Archie had to really focus on his self restraint at the redhead’s answer, the relief in her voice and her words so obvious. He was used to his students reacting like this sometimes, which surprised him, since he thought philosophy should be a subject where you might have to work hard and use critical thinking, but where there couldn’t really be any wrong answers as long as you did. “It did. I think when we dare to ponder on life’s big questions and land on the answers that come to us without judging them, we can always find bits of wisdom we didn’t know we posses.” Archie replied, his eyes going from her to scour the rest of the class, making sure they were all listening to him, or at least pretending to do so. He considered her question for a while, similar ones had popped into his mind more than once. “I do think that humans, by nature, tend to ponder on the reflection they perceive of themselves and how this is perceived in the world. We define ourselves by comparison to others and other things, and we are, at heart, social animals, we need society. Some more than others. So I don’t think we necessarily need to let go of our ego, per se, since it’s no a bad thing, it’s just something we need to take into consecration when trying to make enlightened decisions.”
“If I understand correctly– what you’re basically saying is that we should be curious, ask questions, and try not to box ourselves in on whether the answers we come up with are right or wrong?” She bit her lip in thought for a moment and quickly scribbled something down in her notebook, she liked the sound of the last part. “And if the wisdom I find in myself does not make sense, I’ll probably just come bother you.” Ari offered with a little smile, resting her chin on the palms of her hands as she listened to what the man had to say. She was glad to hear it wasn’t a matter of getting rid of an ego or some parts of yourself, more than it was adjusting them to what could be considered a more “objective” reality. “Does that mean that the idea of defining ourselves really comes from the need to either relate or alienate ourselves from others and not actually self-assessment?” Ariel chuckled. “I’ll first have to work on making any decision before hoping to catch any sort of light to make it make sense.”

Ariel knocked on the door a couple of times and decided to make the wait a bit more entertaining by balancing herself on the balls of her feet. It had been a couple of days since she last had seen Raphi and, in best friend terms, that was unacceptable. Leaving aside the fact that they hadn’t settled on a plan for the day, she was holding a container with pretzel chocolate bark she couldn’t wait to share. "See! I promised I would be here on time.” Ari brightened up once the door opened.

“Dancing?” Adella suggested with a smile. “To be fair, I’m willing to run for almost anything but not for anyone, so you have a point there.” She replied with a giggle. “Yes! I remember Alana would get so savage if any of us even considered getting the same color as hers.” A chuckle escaped her lips, followed by a pout at the new memory. “Yeah, that wasn’t the best experience… We should’ve looked for a better place.” She patted her purse with a smile. “On my wallet, so I always have it with me. You?”
“Oh I don’t want to subject the world to that again.” She laughed, giving Adella a warm look as she remembered the show she’d just finished. “The only person I'd run through an airport for is you.” Ariel covered her mouth with her hands in an attempt to hold her giggles back. “I made that mistake once and my... whatever it was, disappeared; who got me out of her path? Was it Andie?” She took a deep breath to steady herself, her hand pinching at a small bump on the top of her right ear. “I think it would’ve gone better if someone had gotten on board with my idea of using the Parent Trap method.” The girl smiled before getting carried away in her thoughts. “Uh... shadow box! I haven’t finished it yet but I’m certain I tied it to a string and taped it so it’ll dangle from the top.”

viv-flieger:.
Viv had been forcing herself to go out more and try and “connect with nature” more, since it was supposed to be very beneficial for fairies. It really wasn’t her thing, but even so, the brunette was learning to enjoy it. If she could also bring her phone or a book with her, obviously. She’d been staring at some convoluted TMZ story on her phone so the other’s voice startled her a little. She turned to grin at the redhead.”You have the prettiest eyes ever, so I forgive you.” A wink followed and then her eyes went back to her phone. “What the fuck is up with these celebrities, really? Why is everyone sleeping with everyone and then acting surprised about it? It’s ridiculous and addictive. Like, just own it.”
“You’re one to talk.” She grinned at her new companion and craned her neck up. “Oh, who is it this time?” Ari patted the empty spot next to her, hoping to continue the conversation. “Maybe they want to avoid people having their hopes up for them as an item? We’re still not at a point in society where everyone is chill about one-night stands, so that’s probably another thing for their image and whatnot.”

tulio-dorante:.
Tulio had been worriedly walking down the street, mumbling all the things he wanted to do before the weekend was over, when he felt something hit his chest softly. He stopped, for a moment wondering if he was finally having a heart attack, before realizing how stupid that sounded. “Qu… Oh, uh, that’s okay. I’m fine.” He quickly replied with a smile. “That’s heavy, though. Are you moving?” He joked.
“Good! I’m sorry I didn’t see you there.” She smiled back at him as she felt her shame wash away, relieved the bump was light and hadn’t caused an accident. “More like moving the local economy.” Ariel chuckled through a small grimace, taking a second look at her bag before resuming. “Just picking up some things...” Another stomach grumble. “Just in case! No collection is too small and you never know when you might need a gift.” She shook her head and laughed. “Oh dear, I went off; sorry about that.”

Angel wasn’t much of a hugger, but she was in a good mood, so she didn’t protest. In fact, she hugged Ariel back and smiled. “It’s as good as it can be without all my friends, ya know. I’m certainly happy to be back and…uh…’M not sure about that last question.”
“That’s the best response I could’ve asked for.” She grinned. “Did you do anything fun, though?” Ariel sighed and put her phone away with a little shrug. “Guess I’ll find out later tonight. Anyway– where were you headed?” She perked up on her heels.

“You know, when I said I’d help you paint your room as a way to distract myself from my shitty last relationship, I thought you’d be better at the whole painting thing.” She held the paintbrush at her side, studying the wall of uneven color layers. After a moment, she cracked a small smile and looked at Ariel. “Well, at least you’ve got the distraction part of it down.”
“Why? Distractions don’t have to be beautiful, they have to be loud and in your face... just like this!” Ariel made a quick move to try and swipe her brush over Andrina’s cheek, well aware the thing was still very much covered in paint. “See? It’s working. Now it’s your time to shine and leave your mark up there.” Ari signaled to the wall before starting to sway along to the song playing on the laptop speakers.

“Ariel,” Aurora repeated, her soft lips curling up in delight. She hummed in thought, a long, delicate finger tapping the point of her chin. “Tell you what. If tonight goes well, we’ll have to meet again, and I’ll tell you anything you want to know then. For now, let’s keep it a secret.” She laughed, nodding, “I know the feeling. My bed is calling my name.” Aurora raised a brow. “What do you mean?”
Ari smiled at this. “Count me in.” She then offered one of her pinky fingers out to Aurora. “You can’t break one of these. I already know we’ll have a blast.” She chuckled as she settled on her seat, allowing her legs to lightly dangle over the floor. “They’ll miss us as much as we’ll miss them... might as well give them something we can tell them about.” Ariel’s eyes sparked up as she rested her chin on her hand, ready for her idea to bubble up to the surface. “See that colorful board over there? They’re all new drinks and you can vote on which one you think should make the regular venue. Are you up to the challenge of casting a vote between four contenders?” She squinted her eyes at Rory and tried to play it like a serious broadcaster– she wasn’t able to hold her chuckle in for long.

“Oh, okay… got it,” she replied, pulling the knife out of the bag. She was grateful for the warning, otherwise it was likely she might’ve cut herself on accident. Ris took the knife and cut a slice of the cake, her smile growing as she saw the candy spill out. “You do not mess around when it comes to cake, do you?” She chuckled, shaking her head gently. “Hey, as long as I’m spending time with you, I’m sure it’ll be a great day.”
“Baking is my gift and I will not hesitate to abuse it when it comes to you.” Ariel clasped her hands together at the sight, joy washing over her as the candy did what it was supposed to do. “You’re the sweetest.” She replied warmly before stuffing one of the loose pieces of the cake in her mouth. “Well... if you’re in for a spa day, I’m sure I could pull some strings.” Ari wiggled her eyebrows.

Ris laughed, shaking her head. “Hey, you’ve got a lot more than collecting thingamabobs. Maybe you can find a way to make one of those a career.” She winked at her sister before nodding. “Yeah, yeah. I think he can deal for a little bit.” She waved at Ariel as she took off toward another store. She took only a few minutes to find what she thought were the perfect shoes before heading to their assigned meeting place. She stood for a while, scrolling on her phone while she waited, and broke out into laughter as she saw all the bags Ariel was holding. She handed over the bag she was holding as she took the one her sister extended. “Ooh, I did the same thing. Here ya go.” Her grin grew as she pulled out the shoes Ariel had picked out for her. “Oh, these are awesome! I love them!”
“You think the guys over at American Pickers would choose me to tag along buying treasures?” Though her tone was teasing, deep down Ariel knew she would jump at the chance to spend even one evening with Frank and Mike. “Maybe we should pay him a holiday visit?” She chewed on her lip for a moment, the realization of a two-week old text that hadn’t been responded yet– on her end, of course; hitting her all of a sudden. “Ris! These are absolutely fantastic, I have a shirt in the same shade– I love it when an outfit comes together.” Ari giggled before her face broke into a proud smile. "Now would be the time where a little mission accomplished sound effect could come in handy.”

“Why? What’s inside?” Arista laughed as her sister’s arms came around her. If anyone understood, it was Ariel ( or another of her sisters ) and she was glad the girl was next to her today. A genuine smile came upon her face at her sister’s declaration. “I’m thinking we just chill, but I’ll let you know if that changes.” As she spoke, she opened the gift box and her smile grew as she saw the gifts. “Aw, Ariel! This is great, I love it. Thank you!” At that, she wrapped her arms around her sister in a hug. “My personal genie.”
“Happiness.” She smirked. Happiness came in the way of a ton of assorted candy and some gummies. “I... oh dear, I think I let the cake knife slide into the gift bag so maybe keep an eye out for any weird objects while you’re at it.” Ariel admitted with a sheepish laugh, her eyes brightening at Arista’s response. “Awesome! I will abide on any food, game, show, or anything you wish to do today... it’ll be like you’re hanging out with a completely different sister.” After squeezing Arista for a second time, she laughed. “I would’ve gone with a Bewitched angle but my nose twitching skills are nonexistent.

Arista pulled her head back at her sister’s gesture. “Noooo,” she whined, shaking her head. She smiled at Ariel’s words though. “Well, thank you. I do love it.” She doubted there would ever be a day when she didn’t enjoy performing. “Well, I’ll let you know after I watch it. Maybe I’ll like it enough to send it.” She knew their dad would love to hear it either way, but she was always particular about who she let hear her music. “Oh, really? That is awful.” She burst out laughing right along with her sister. “Meet back by the wind-chimes. That way we don’t feel influenced by each other.”
“’tis a first warning!” She giggled, her face breaking into a warm smile at Arista’s response. “You were literally made to be up there– I hope some day something calls out to me as much as performing does to you.” Ari mused out loud with a little shrug, unable to stop her chuckle. “At least something other than being awesome at collecting thingamabobs.” The girl nodded along; though their father could be strict, he was also a big softie when it came to those things. “I hope you do, you know how pouty he gets when he doesn’t get any updates.” Ariel grinned, her attention automatically drawn to the one store she never failed to visit; she already was on her way as she called out to Ris. “Alright! See you in a bit, sweetheart!” Of course she’d lose track of time. Ariel, three bags heavier than what she was supposed to return with, raced to the stand with what she knew in her heart was a five minute delay. She reached Arista and grinned through her heavy breathing, handing her one of the bags. “Okay! I went with something cute enough to wear with a flowy dress but comfortable enough to walk around in.”

“Cut into this and you’ll find out you’ll always be 18 at heart.” Ariel carefully placed the cake on the table in front of them and, after leaving the gift box right by it, practically bounced to wrap Ris into a tight hug. She only had to take a longer look at Arista’s face to understand the conflicting, yet subtle, emotions on her face. She understood it; if anything would happen that day, she wanted to show Arista how much she loved her and how every day spent with her was special. “Happy birthday, sweetheart!” She cheered whole-heartedly, taking one of her sister’s hands into her own. “This is your day so... if after this you just want us to chill or go rent a bouncy castle or whatever your little big heart desires, I shall be your personal genie!”
“I am officially 26,” Arista began. An uneasy smile was on her face. Birthdays were some of her harder days - days when she wished her mother was there to celebrate with her, too. “And I don’t know how to feel about being one year closer to 30.” She hoped that would be enough to keep anyone from asking why she wasn’t more excited. But then, she would always cheer right up and it would never seem like anything had been wrong in the first place.

Ris was glad her sister wasn’t fighting her, but she couldn’t help the small groan at the thought of being recorded. “I mean, as long as I don’t screw up, I’ll love that.” Hearing her own voice on recordings never seemed to give the same effect as when others heard it, but maybe that was just her. “Oh man, is he really that bad?” A brow rose, hearing Ariel’s words. Her attention piqued at the proposal. “You’ve got yourself a deal.”
Ari sighed and raised a hand, pretending to cover up Arista’s mouth with a finger. “Another comment like that and I’ll be forced to bring a t-shirt to match the banner. You’re bringing it on yourself.” She shook her head dramatically before laughing. “You’ll do great. It’s not only that your voice is absolutely lovely, but you always look like you’re enjoying yourself up there. It’s nice.” She paired her words with a warm smile. “I won’t send it to dad if you don’t want me to, though.” She clicked her lips before finally eating the rest of the cone. “You’ve ever heard someone try to rhyme fragrance with your ass?” Ariel had to calm herself down after her snort turned into a full laugh. “Oh dear. Anyway...” She grinned at Ris as they began to pass the first stores. “You want to go into the same store or should we meet back by the wind-chime stand in about twenty?”

“Oh, shush,” Arista laughed, shaking her head. “That is a complete secret, but I promise you’ll love it. And thank you.” She certainly hadn’t always thought the same thing, but she’d worked hard and was finally proud of where she was. “Well, maybe you’ll find out he’s gone and became some big star.” She was savoring the last few bites of ice cream because when would she get free ice cream again? The thought made her chuckle as she shook her head. “Red. But then, I always want red shoes.”
“Fine.” She dragged out the word with a smug little smile. “Only because I know you always deliver– just saying the truth! And of course I’ll record it so you can watch your amazingness later on.” Ariel’s face turned into a conflicted grimace, chewing on an edge of the waffle cone as she thought it over. “Oh dear. I mean, that would be absolutely lovely for him and I hope he does make it! But if he’s to become famous... it’ll probably be because he found out he’s an incredible dancer or something.” Even a ventriloquy routine would work better than any of his songs. “True. Let’s make it interesting.” She gave Ris a look. “I’ll choose your red ones and you choose a blue one for me?”

Aurora couldn’t help the rush of warm embarrassment that filled her cheeks as she ducked back so as not to run into the other girl. She held a soft hand up to hide her shy grin at the pet name, which she found strangely agreeable. Nodding, Aurora finally placed the familiarity she felt. “That’s me! And if you have an A name, I assume you’re one of the Triton sisters? Adella is a good friend of mine,” she offered to connect the dots. “Nope, just trying to blow off the steam from a long shift.” Aurora noticed Ariel’s wet hair, the corners of her mouth curling into an amused grin. “What about you? Looks like you’ve spent the day enjoying the beach.” She lead the way into the bar, scoping out a couple of stools in the back corner of the room. She wasn’t normally so forward, but something about Ariel helped her feel more comfortable than she was around most almost-strangers. “Can I buy you a drink?”
“The last of the pack! Ariel.” The girl stated proudly, feeling her smile warm up even more at the mention of her sister. “Well, you’re about to find out that if you’re a friend of any of us, you’re a friend to all of us.” That was true in about 6 out of 7 cases, Rory gave the vibe of being a lovely person and Ari was determined to prove it herself. Her mouth did a little o at the explanation. “Well, then we definitely have to make it a great night. Can I ask what is it that you do or should we just forget all about our lives outside of this place?” Ari asked, though she loved to talk, work was seldom a topic she could go on about for long. Rory probably had a cooler job than hers, though. “Oh, I wish.” Speaking of topics she couldn’t go on for long– she didn’t linger on the thought and followed up with a chuckle. “I wanted to take the world’s quickest shower so I could go out before anything tried to keep me home... like a fuzzy robe.” Ariel admitted sheepishly, hoping the other girl wouldn’t find her explanation too dorky. She followed Rory along, merrily sitting beside her. “Only if I can get the second round! Actually...” She bit on her lip and looked up at the day’s menu, turning back to grin at Aurora. “How adventurous are you feeling today?”

@tulio-dorante
There was few things she loved more than walking down the Saturday market, purchasing things she most certainly didn’t need but knew would either make great gifts or fill a space (probably repeat) in any of her collections. Though her stroll was proving to be more fruitful than she had anticipated, her stomach had other plans. Following the growl and a smell she couldn’t quite place, Ariel quickly turned on her heel to follow it... the spin made her tote bag slightly hit someone walking just behind her. “Oh! Sorry, darling!” She chuckled with a bit of guilt, trying to hide her collection of thingamabobs behind her back. “I think this thing has a mind of its own– which I know believe is a better explanation.” Ari smiled brightly at the man. “Are you alright?”
