I have said for a long time that Lightning Bolt and Counterspell will never appear in any future Standard sets. Players don't believe me. Time will tell.
If standard's power level is being pushed again, what are the odds of seeing powerful reprints come to standard? Specifically I have Lightning Bolt in mind.
Pushing certain areas of Stsndard is not the same as pushing all areas of Standard.
Also, us accidentally alllowing a broken card in the environment because we misjudged its power level is not an invitation to bring back broken cards of the past.

Fetchlands let you get dual lands come in untapped, for the lower price of one life. A lot of formats want that.
Hey Mark, I'm a pretty invested player and very passionately collect, but I'm having difficulty seeing what the fervor is over the (lack of) fetchlands. Obviously you folks at WotC see it though since every product announcement comes with a disclaimer of whether or not it has fetches. Can you explain some of this fervor from your perspective?
It’s just a wanted cycle of cards. A lot of older formats use them and they’re hard to get. Us reprintkbgcthem would make them easier to get.

I personally think white borders should NOT be reprinted. One of the first things I did when I learnt the game was start purchasing white bordered cards, because I admired those in my friends collection. If you started playing with them, and still are, you have earned the right to have them in your decks.
When or if: the return of white border for meaningful reprints
I would not hold my breath for the return of white border.

Hello. One of the first cards I ever got excited about was Goblin Kaboomist in M15. It was in the first prerelease that I ever went to. I loved the art and how it relates to the mechanics on the card. I was intrigued but what I could do with the card (playing Stormrider Rig before it hit the field), and hoped to pull a copy (my friend did, and swapped it for Yisan, the Wanderer Bard - for his bloody Slivers deck). When I next went to PAX in Australia, Aaron Forsythe was playing Magic with people. He was the lead developer of M15. I got him to sign a copy of Kaboomist, and get excited every time I play it! It was going to PAX that first introduced me to Magic. Any chance that it will ever come back to PAX Australia?

God I love Vehicles. Loved them from the moment I saw them.
Hey Maro, I read your article yesterday. In it, you mention that Ikoria is an "experiment" with complexity. Sometimes when Wizards does new things, they stick around immediately (Vehicles, Equipment, Prowess). Is that likely here, or should we expect to wait a few years (Sagas)?
This is something we’re waiting on to see the reaction.

Hi there! I'm one of the people who buys a LOT of premium product, but also doesn't want to see poorer players priced out of the game. Players like me love two things - bling and older cards. I think it would be worth polling us. I personally wouldn't give a toss if some reserve list cards were reprinted. Duals, in particular. I have my white bordered ones, which is enough to make them feel special for me. I would however, love for my poorer friends to be able to also get their hands on them. I remember how GREAT it was for my friends to all get their hands on fetchlands in Khans. I don't think it would matter much for fetches to be available in an affordable expansion. Just keep making bling for people like me. Full arts, foils, alternate art - we will buy that shit! And we SHOULD get access to that shit exclusively, if we are willing to pay for it. Others can still get those cards, but only one or two copies for their birthday, or what have you. Those are my thoughts. Otherwise, duals will eventually disappear into collections, and not be played. I mean, who will want to actually play with their copy of a playset of $40 000 cards?

Hey Marc, I know that you probably won't answer this, but I really wanted you to pass this along if possible. Double masters while being a cool set (I am assuming), is priced out of my range. While you don't control pricing, I just wanted you to know that 300 dollars a box (before gouging) is going to really spoil a lot of the communities good will towards your company. I know that company line is "it's not for everyone", but Mr. Rosewater it's a bridge to far for this 15 year invested player.
I want to have a honest discussion with all of you. While making Magic the best game it can be is important to us, we are also a business. Part of our job as a business is to recognize all the various audiences and create products to serve them. That’s how we make money - finding player desires and filling them with products.
One of our audiences are invested players with a higher price threshold. That is, there are players who are willing to spend a lot of money for highly desired cards, be it reprints or alternate versions. It’s in our interest to make products for those players (things like Double Masters and collector boosters). Note that we take great care to make those products something that group is happy to buy.
The issue is those desirable cards are also desired by players who that product is not aimed for. Desirable cards are desirable cards. So when we make these products, that group gets upset because the prices seem so high. It feels like an insult. We made something they’d like, but we priced them out of being able to purchase it.
I get the ill will, but I also feel like not making products for that audience is unfair for both that audience and us. So I’m turning to all of you that feel upset. How can we make these products in a way that allows that audience to get what they want without all of you feeling like we’re doing harm to you?

I found this on the ground, near my car. Where did it come from? Has it dropped out of someone's pocket, who has time-travelled back from the 80s? #RingPull #80s #1980s #TimeTravel
