I think being constantly scared of being genuine also hurts the general quality of the games, right? If you concentrate to much on protecting yourself, I imagine work would suffer like the quality of life of a shut-in.

Absolutely. They may not always be able to put it into words, but players can subconsciously tell when a video game temporarily steps outside of its boundaries as a product made to make money and becomes a writer, an artist, a designer, and a programmer baring a piece of their soul.

Why else do you think Miyazaki keeps including a swamp despite everyone on Earth but him hating poison swamps? He truly loves them, and you can feel that in every agonizing step you take inside one of those fucking things.

I don’t think you’re ready to have an adult conversation about politics until you’re able to admit that there are things you love and enjoy that would not and should not exist in a just world. $8 billion dollar budget movies every other month don’t exist in a just world. New 900 GB AAA video games every year don’t exist in a just world. Next day delivery doesn’t exist in a just world. 80 different soda brands don’t exist in a just world. 

All of those things come from exploitation on some level, and if you wouldn’t trade those for a world where everyone can eat and have a home no matter who they are or what they do, I don’t know what to tell you.

how must the Dick -> Jason Robin switch have looked to the Gotham Rogues. it's not as if they did a formal 'attention, Robin has quit his job and will now be operating as Nightwing' announcement. like after a certain point it must have become like a Known Thing that periodically Batman gets new sidekicks. but that first changeover must have messed w people's heads right??

like. you are a B-list Gotham Rogue. You haven't seen Robin in months. You've asked around and no-one else in the circles you move in has seen him either. You're starting to get worried but you aren't sure if you have the kind of relationship with the Batman where it would be appropriate to ask after his sidekick's wellbeing. Every time he shows up Robin-less you get progressively more stressed out.
