Inner voice of a newly married girl of Newa society:
Life changes after marriage for men. But for the women; environment, world as well as the whole universe changes including life.  She is not perfect but tries to be a perfect wife and perfect daughter in law. Yet her rotis are not circle and amount of salt in lentils is not right.  She tries very hard to please everyone. Even if there is a wound in her hand, she washes the utensils. Even if her legs are aching, she stands for hours to prepare meal for the family. Even if she is starving, she waits until every member of the family have resided in a dining table. Even if she wants to visit to her parents, she timidly asks for the permission. Sometimes, she feels that it is very unfair. This whole culture is not fair. But she cannot fight for her inner voice. Because she is selfless. She thinks about others happiness before hers. Because she is dependent. She is obsessed for her husbands love, care and support. Because she is dominated. From birth, she has seen and accepted the male dominated society.  She wants to change the society yet accepts the rules laid for the women by the society. She wants equality for men and women yet accepts to bow down to the pressures she put on herself to please others. She has a self respect yet she agrees to the order of bowing down to each and every relative even though some of them do not deserve her respect. She pressurizes herself to be active, obedient, energetic, loving, caring, selfless and perfect. Because this is what her mother taught her from birth. Because this is what the society expected her to be.
