CW: none (let me know if I missed any)
Chapter 1 | Chapter List
Chapter 2: Could We Be More?
August 20, 2024
Rhea woke up, her head pounding. Her phone was ringing and Damian was knocking on her door. She groaned as she dragged herself out of bed. She unlocked the door and held it open just wide enough for him to push. She plopped back on the bed while he came in.
“We’re alone, right?” Damian asked, looking around.
“Yeah Jey wouldn’t come in,” she said. She put her hand on her forehead. Why did she say that?
“Jey?” Damian asked, holding out her smoothie.
She took it and sipped, avoiding his eyes. “Um yeah. We chatted, he walked me to my room. That’s it.”
He took a small bottle of Aleve out of his pocket and handed it to her. “Mmm, that’s it, huh?”
She took the bottle. “That’s it.”
She put the pill in her mouth and swallowed it with some of her smoothie.
Damian watched her curiously.
“Nothing happened, Priest. Geez.” Rhea stood up and grabbed some workout clothes from her bag.
“I didn’t say anything,” he said, sipping his smoothie.
“Yeah, but you’re watching me,” Rhea said, as she headed to the bathroom to change.
“I’m just trying to imagine drunk you approaching Jey cuz something is telling me you approached him.”
Rhea glared at him before closing the door. Damian laughed.
“I knew it!” he yelled excitedly.
Rhea smiled, shaking her head. She wasn’t drunk enough to forget what she said to him or his response. She brushed her teeth and washed her face, wondering if there could be more than a fling between them. To answer that question, she realized she would have to get to know him. And the thought of that didn’t unnerve her.
She put on her clothes and pulled her hair into a short ponytail. She studied her reflection. She looked tired. Rhea sighed as she turned to leave the bathroom.
Rhea walked back over to the bed and checked her phone. She frowned, slightly disappointed there was no text from Jey.
“What? Your man didn’t text you?” Damian asked.
Rhea scowled at him. “Are we going to the gym or are you gonna wait for that smoothie to settle first?”
“Let’s go,” Damian said.
They put their smoothies in the fridge. As they headed out the door, Damian said, “Don’t worry. I’m sure he’ll text you later.”
Rhea elbowed him and Damian laughed, gently pushing her.
They got to the gym and, of course, Jey was there. Rhea froze at the door and Damian pushed her, grinning like an idiot. Jey was working out with dumbbells with headphones on, his shirt off. His back was to them. They walked over to the treadmills and sat in front of them to stretch. Rhea’s eyes drifted over to Jey every so often, studying the tattoo on his back. When Rhea stood up to step on the treadmill, she glanced at Jey again and their eyes met. Jey smiled and Rhea smiled back.
“Sup Damian,” Jey said, taking his eyes off Rhea.
“What’s up, Jey?” Damian said. He stepped on the treadmill. “Thanks for keeping an eye on Rhea.”
Jey smiled. Rhea rolled her eyes and focused intensely on the treadmill dashboard.
“No problem,” Jey said.
Rhea set her warm up pace and looked up. Her eyes met Jey’s. He smiled at her before turning away. Rhea didn’t realize she was smiling until she looked at her phone. She played Motionless in White’s album Reincarnate and tried not to think about her and Jey together.
***
Freshly showered and dressed, Rhea headed downstairs with her bag. She checked out and waited for Damian. She spotted Dom and Liv outside waiting for an Uber. They were grinning, talking to each other. Dom leaned in to kiss her and Rhea gagged.
“Yeah they’re a bit much,” Jey said.
Rhea jumped and turned, looking at him. She covered her face as her cheeks turned red.
“My bad. I didn’t mean to scare you,” Jey said. He tried to suppress his chuckle, but failed.
“It’s okay,” Rhea said.
She glanced around for Damian, wondering where the hell he was. Her eyes met Jey’s again. Nerves fluttered in her stomach. She spit out her thoughts before she changed her mind.
“You didn’t text me,” she said, matter-of-factly.
“Oh you were expecting a text?” Jey asked, smiling.
Rhea shrugged. “I mean…not really expecting…I just figured…”
“Well I wanted to see if you were interested in more than just a fling.”
Rhea looked away, biting her lip. She gripped the handle on her suitcase tighter.
“I wouldn’t mind getting to know you,” she said, meeting his eyes after she finished talking.
He smiled. “Cool. Be on the lookout for a text then.”
She smiled. “Can I ask you a question?”
“Shoot.”
“Why are you even interested in me?”
“Oh that’s easy. You’re beautiful. Fearless. Strong. Loyal, probably to a fault. But I can relate. You seem to have a good sense of humor. I feel like I’m always hearing you laugh backstage. You have a beautiful laugh by the way.”
Rhea blushed and looked down, studying her beat-up platform Converse.
“As we get to know each other better,” he started. She looked at him. “I hope you’ll find some things you like about me.”
“I can name something already,” Rhea said, gently bumping into him.
“What’s that?”
“You’re a gentleman,” Rhea said.
They stared into each other’s eyes for a second, both smiling. Rhea’s eyes shifted to his lips. She licked her lips. Surprised she was actually thinking about what kissing him would be like.
“Oh look who we have here,” Damian said. Rhea rolled her eyes and was surprised to hear Kayden giggle. That’s why he was taking forever. She turned around and gave him a grimace. She smiled sweetly at Kayden.
“Hi Kayden,” Rhea said.
“Hi Rhea,” Kayden said. “Don’t be too hard on him. I told him not to tease you.”
“I will be nice only for you, Kayden. Will you also need a ride to the airport?”
“If you don’t mind, I’d really appreciate it,” Kayden said.
“Yeah no problem,” Rhea said.
“Wait, how are you getting home?” Jey asked.
“I’m driving,” Rhea said. “I’m in Orlando.”
“That’s right,” Jey said. “I’m in Orlando too.”
Jey and Rhea talked about where in Orlando they were going and realized they didn’t live too far from each other.
“Maybe we can hang out sometime,” Jey said.
“Yeah, maybe,” Rhea said, smiling.
“Sorry to break this up, but we have a plane to catch,” Damian said.
“Oh, are you also going to New York, Kayden?” Rhea asked.
Kayden smiled and looked away shyly. “Yep.”
“Oooooo,” Jey said.
Kayden hit him playfully. Jey and Rhea laughed. Damian shook his head.
“Well let’s get going,” Rhea said.
She glanced at Jey, unsure of what she was feeling. Was it sadness? Disappointment? All she knew was that she wasn’t happy leaving him. His eyes met hers, a small smile on his face. She wondered if he felt the same way.
“See ya, Jey,” Rhea said.
“Hey, if you want some company on the road, give me a call,” Jey said.
“Umm, I actually think it’s your turn to call me,” Rhea said, with a wink. “But I’ll keep that in mind.”
Jey chuckled, nodding his head. “I got you. Drive safe.”
“You too,” Rhea said.
Jey said goodbye to Damian and Kayden and then the three of them headed outside.
“So…are you and Jey becoming a thing?” Kayden asked.
Rhea shrugged. “I don’t know, but I think I’m starting to like him.”
“Girl talk on your own time, please,” Damian said.
“Why? Worried about what I’ll say about you?” Kayden asked.
Damian’s mouth dropped and Kayden and Rhea burst out laughing.
***
Rhea had been driving for about an hour when the phone rang. Jey’s name popped on the caller ID. She smiled. She had been thinking about him off and on.
“Hey,” Rhea answered.
“What’s up?” he replied. “How’s your drive going?”
“Pretty good. I can’t complain. How’s your drive?”
“It’s been pretty good too,” he said. “So since you wanted me to call you, what you wanna talk about?”
Rhea laughed. “Is that what I said?”
“That’s what I heard,” Jey said, chuckling.
“Umm I don’t know,” Rhea said. “Why don't you tell me about the movies you like to watch?”
They talked about scary movies and action movies. They went on to talk about their pets, Rhea’s two dogs and Jey’s one dog, and all types of music.
Before she knew it, an hour and a half passed. She was almost home.
“Wow, we've been talking for almost two hours,” Rhea said. “That’s wild.”
“Yeah that time flew,” Jey said. “You’re fun to talk to.”
Rhea blushed, relieved they weren’t on FaceTime.  “You’re fun to talk to too.”
Silence settled between them. Rhea gently tapped her fingers on the steering wheel, happy she was feeling something other than sad. The past couple of weeks had been rough. Damian had been there, checking on her and cheering her up. But it was nice that she had another…friend.
“I have some running around to do this week, but we can grab some Waffle House Friday morning if you’re free,” Jey said.
“I can do Friday morning,” Rhea said.
“I can pick you up.”
“I’ll meet you there. Between the gym and figuring out what to wear, don’t be surprised if I’m late,” Rhea said.
“Okay,” Jey said with a chuckle. “For the record, you’ll look amazing in anything.”
“Thanks Jey,” Rhea said, blushing again.
“I’ll talk to you later. I’m about to be home,” Jey said.
“Same. Talk to you later.”
Jey hung up the phone. Rhea sighed, turning down the volume as her metal music resumed. She pulled into her driveway, trying not to think about how much she was looking forward to breakfast Friday morning.

fanfic writers are so fucking awesome man. they write novel length fics that are sometimes even better than some published bestselling books written by professional writers. like fanfic writers are professional writers to me and they gift us their masterpieces for free. they give us something we can look forward to after a long day. something from which we can seek comfort when life is hard. something that can be our own little getaway. in a world of capitalism, despite everything, they give us all of these for free. like holy fuck. shout out to every fanfic writer. I wish all fanfic writers a very ‘I love you with all my heart and soul. I thank you from the bottom of my heart’

This Will Be Our Year - A Jey Uso x Rhea Ripley FanFic
CW: suggestive, drinking, drinking alcohol
Chapter 1: Tequila Blues
August 19, 2024
Rhea downed her third tequila, neat. Her chest burned and she welcomed the heat. It helped sear away the image of Dom and Liv rubbing noses on another episode of Raw. This had become her new Monday night ritual since SummerSlam. Since Dom not only chose Liv, but betrayed her.
Rhea looked at her phone, thinking about texting Damian. He had told her to stay in his room. He offered to watch a movie or play Uno, but Rhea had really just wanted to drink. He said he was worried about her and she reminded him she was fine. Heartbroken, but fine. He usually went with her to play bodyguard, but he was tired. And probably also tired of this song and dance, but he didn’t say that. She closed her messages.
Someone sat at the bar a few chairs down. She looked. It was Jey Uso. She smirked. Jey always appeared at the bar when she was there. He usually had one drink or beer that he nursed through the night. She had talked to Damian about it last week.
“He’s always here when I’m here,” Rhea said, stealing glances at Jey.
“Oh how odd that he would be at the bar in the hotel we’re all staying at,” Damian said sarcastically.
Rhea laughed before she could stop herself. “But sometimes he stares at me.”
“Hasn’t he admitted a few times on national TV that he has some sort of feelings for you?” Damian asked. “You’re surprised he’s checking you out?”
“No. I’m surprised he hasn’t approached me,” Rhea said, stealing another glance.
“Cuz he knows I’ll stop him,” Damian said.
“I’m not even that drunk today,” Rhea said, shrugging. She picked up her glass, considering another drink.
“Not yet,” he said.
With her bodyguard upstairs, she wondered if he would approach. But she felt her liquid courage fueling her curiosity. The bartender handed Jey a Corona and Jey thanked him. Rhea kept her eyes on him. Jey was attractive for sure. And he was funny. Who didn’t love to laugh? But how serious were those feelings of his? Could she drown her sorrows in Jey for the night? Would he be okay with that?
Jey turned his head and their eyes met. Rhea smiled and Jey smiled back.
“Are you finally gonna come talk to me or are you gonna keep staring at me from far away like you’ve been doing?” Rhea asked.
Jey froze for a second. He chuckled and took a sip of his beer. He got up and walked over to her. He sat in the chair right next to her.
“I can talk to you if you’d like,” he said.
She looked him up and down. “Yeah, I’d like that.”
Jey bit his lip. He was trying to play it cool. It was cute.
“So how’s your night been?” he asked.
Rhea shrugged. “Pretty boring actually.”
“I’m sorry to hear that.”
“You can make it more interesting though,” Rhea said, a grin slowly appearing on her face.
“Oh? How so?” he asked, eyebrows raised.
Rhea put her hand on his chest, the prospect of feeling something other than sad and drunk surprisingly giving her butterflies. “How about we go back to my room?”
Jey smiled and took her hand, keeping it on his chest. “How about I walk you to your room so you can get some rest?”
Rhea’s brow furrowed and she pouted at the rejection. The heat of embarrassment threatened to take over the heat from the tequila.
“I thought you liked me,” Rhea said quietly, squeezing his hand.
“I do,” Jey replied, his voice quiet as well. “I don’t want this to be a one time thing.”
“What if that’s what I want?” Rhea asked, her eyes searching his.
Jey looked away from her for a second, the grip on her hand relaxed a little. Her heart sank. It wasn’t a complete lie. She did want him for tonight. She just never thought about him and her being more than coworkers, let alone friends. She was with Dom when his advances started so she never entertained the thought. But maybe in the morning, she would.
“Well Miss Ripley,” he said, looking into her eyes, holding her hand firmly, “if that’s how you really feel, you can tell me again when you’re sober.”
“Okay,” Rhea said, her liquid courage fading. She felt small. She dropped her head and let go of his hand. A wave of sleepiness washed over her.
He lifted her chin up and her heart pounded in her chest.
“It’s okay,” he said gently. “Let’s get you upstairs.”
Rhea nodded. Jey made sure both their tabs were closed. He held out his arm and she held onto it as they walked over to the elevator.
The elevator ride and the walk to her room was silent, but not uncomfortable. She leaned against her door and looked at him. He smiled.
“Where’s your key?” he asked.
“Let me see your phone,” Rhea said.
He narrowed his eyes at her, confusion on his face. “You sure?”
She nodded. He handed it to her. She put in her number and called her phone. She handed his phone back to him and took the key out of her pocket.
“Goodnight Jey,” Rhea said. She looked him in his eyes before turning around.
“Goodnight, Rhea,” he replied.
She tapped the key on her door and pushed it open. She looked at him one more time, leaning against the doorframe.
Jey smirked. “Go lie down.”
Rhea bit her lip, holding back the words ‘Make me.’ She smiled and waved before closing the door. He gave her a head nod. She heard his footsteps fade away after she locked the door. She grabbed her phone and saved his number. She sighed as she stripped off her sweatsuit, down to her bra and panties.
Of course he was a gentleman, she thought, rolling her eyes.
She took her bra off and rummaged around in her bag for her big tee. She found it and slipped it on. She climbed into bed, her eyes closed before her head hit the pillow. Jey was the last thing on her mind for once. Not Dom, not Liv, not how Damian would come waking her up early with her hangover cure. Just Jey. And the way her hand felt in his. The way he said Miss Ripley. The way he looked sincere and not judgmental. She drifted off to sleep with a small smile on her lips.

🚨 Please, do not ignore this danger‼️
⏹️ Hi friend, I hope you are well..
🔹My name is Siraj, a journalist from Gaza - Palestine.
🔹I tell you that I returned with my family to northern Gaza after a year and a half of oppression and displacement. It is a joy mixed with pain, the joy of returning to the neighborhood in which we grew up, and the pain at the scene of destruction and the loss of loved ones.
🔹We now live in a tent next to our destroyed house. The situation is catastrophic and very dangerous. The infrastructure is completely destroyed.
🔹The urgent need now is to provide tanks to create a toilet.
📍Please donate and reblog as much as possible.
🔗 The campaign is documented by Nabulsi No. 219 in Hussein's documents.

This Will Be Our Year
A Jey Uso x Rhea Ripley FanFic
This fanfic will be going back in time to August 2024 where Rhea is dealing with her break up from Dom and her developing feelings for Jey. I honestly Googled songs about the beginnings of relationships for this title and I think it fits perfectly. Also the band name is appropriate because I will never let Jhea die.
Chapter 1: Tequila Blues will be out Tuesday, February 18th.
