Honestly those two were the true bad guys of the movie (in my opinion)

spoilers for the movie

Yes I know that Walters aka Olive Garden guy did try to save Maria and Shadow from getting shot, but 1. He still decided to put Shadow in stasis and 2. He lied to Sonic and the others about what happened 50 years ago and didn’t tell them the whole truth, plus don’t forget that he tried to have Sonic and Tails locked up in the 2nd movie, so unless something happens that makes me change my mind about him, this guy is on my bad guy list

as for Gerald, OH BOY WHERE DO I EVEN START

he manipulates Shadow and Robotnik to try and destroy the world (though Ivo didn’t actually know that was what he had planned)

and that one line he says in the movie “it’s not about what Maria wanted, it’s about what they deserve” MAN THAT LINE

Sonic movie 3 spoilers

Those were the two scenes that made me cry

Ok real talk I feel that the way they handled grief in the movie was quite mature and the way the compared it to stars was pretty cool

Something I realised about the situation with Maria in Sonic 3.

Yes, she isn't said to be terminally ill, or Shadow being born to cure her, which is a huge departure from the games. But I'd say it still maintains nearly the same level of tragedy.

She was able to walk around, interact with people. Be silly, be active, tie a rope to Shadow and get him to pull her around on her own roller skates.

She was able to go outside, and see Earth in all its beauty. The stars, the sky, the moon. She was able to lie down in the grass with her brother and comfort him about his own insecurities.

Maria Robotnik was a child full of life, with a life to look forward to.

And that was taken from her.

Sonic 3, all it does, is change the tragedy from 'she was never going to live long' to 'she was able to have a long life and it was stolen from her in cruelty and unfairly'.

That's the injustice that drives Shadow in Sonic 3.

Maria Robotnik should have lived a long and good life. Gone to school, got a career, changed the world with Shadow at her side.

Instead, because of the cruelty of the military, she lost it all and will never be able to have that life.
