2 weeks in Italy and Switzerland
2 weeks in Italy and Switzerland
Here is our 2-week itinerary of a self-planned trip to Italy and Switzerland. We undertook this vacation in the last week of April and the first week of May. Before I planned the trip I assumed the time frame was perfect for our 3 years old to avoid the hot weather of Italy and I wasn’t wrong. Italy was still cooler and we saw snowfall on the first day in Swiss, while we still avoided the extreme…

The Jungle Trail of MacRitchie Reservoir Park
The Jungle Trail of MacRitchie Reservoir Park
It is surprising when I talk to people who have been living in Singapore for few years and have never been to MacRitchie Reservoir. Spread across 12 hectares, the lush green nature reserve is great for nature lovers and sports enthusiasts. Take a morning or evening walk and stroll along the water’s edge to admire the beauty and serenity of the reservoir. You will return with some views you cannot…

Top 7 Best Spots For Tokyo Street Photography
Top 7 Best Spots For Tokyo Street Photography
If you like strolling around busy streets with your camera, Tokyo is THEplace to be. After spending years in Singapore I am not new to crowded urban cities. Tokyo is no different but it is an exciting place to explore. It is an amalgamation of history, culture, traffic, neon lights, urban people, and tourists. I fell in love instantly with this beautiful city. I spent a total of 3 days in Tokyo…

Two Week New Zealand South Island Road Trip Itinerary
Two Week New Zealand South Island Road Trip Itinerary
New Zealand had been on our mind for the longest time. There was a lot of unanswered questions when we started planning.
How to manage Vegetarian Food?
North Island Vs South Island?
Self-drive Vs public transport?
Best time to travel?
After a lot of deliberation, talks with previous travelers and some local contacts and reading various blogs, I could conclude that between North Vs South Island,…

Lightning Capital of the World - Singapore
Lightning Capital of the World – Singapore
Singapore has one of the highest rates of lightning activity in the world. It sees anywhere between 171 and 186 lightning days on average a year. Each square kilometer of land in Singapore can be struck up to 16 times annually. April, May, and November are the most lightning-prone months as a result of the intense inter-monsoon conditions.
I have been trying to capture lightning shots for a few…

Pure New Zealand (Photo series) – Roadtrip
Pure New Zealand (Photo series) – Roadtrip
Where else? New Zealand… This is what you do in NZ. You drive, you stop, you admire landscapes, you drive again. There is no destination to reach, no public attractions to tick, no tourists to compete
Pure New Zealand is a photo series of our 2 weeks self-drive family vacation in the southern island of Middle Earth. We crunched nearly 4000 km in 14 days, saw countless sheep, dipped in glacial…

Timeless in London - My Top 13 Photographs
Timeless in London – My Top 13 Photographs
I visited London in October of 2017 for a couple of weeks. Here are my top 13 photos from the short visit. I was cold and the onset of winters. Days were relatively short as sunset was around 4:30 PM. For that matter, I saw Sun for few days only. Most of the days were cloudy and grey.
Weather may be grey but the spirit of London was enthralling. I would love to revisit London some day but in a…

Pure New Zealand (Photo series) – Lupin Fields
** Lupin Fields ** Nov-Dec is the season of Lupins in New Zealand. We were lucky to see these “weeds” in full bloom. For a few hundred kilometers these amazing flowers gave us a multi-color carpet welcome. Lupins are a stark contrast to all green landscape of NZ.
All Lupins around Lake Tekapo were “infested” with tourists (from China) so we did not get the opportunity to click clean shots. This…

Why is Lake Pukaki so Blue?
Lake Pukaki is one of the largest glacial lakes in South Island. The lake is fed by the Tasman River, which has its source in the Tasman and Hooker Glaciers. As water melts below glaciers, it grinds stones and minerals from the mountains to a very fine flour. This glacial flour gives the lake its distinct blue-green color. You need to see it in real to believe it. Till then check out this…

Every Landscape Photographer Needs These Filters
Filter usage for landscapes is not yet dead and it won’t ever be. There is no post-processing technique to replace what filters can achieve. No amount of editing in Photoshop can produce results what polarising and neutral density filters can, still being close to “reality”.
In this post, I have shared my filter usage and sample picture which would have never been possible without my filter kit.…

Street Photography Trails in Singapore - Part 1
Street Photography Trails in Singapore – Part 1
Street Photography is a very subject genre of art. It can’t be described in words but can be only be described through visuals. In my quest to hone my street photography skills I have decided to do some “no agenda” photo-walks in heritage areas of Singapore whenever I can.
As you know I have not been shooting much off lately due to family commitments. But I want to get back to my usual shooting…
