Please, God, guide my horse, make sure I'm not too late. Silent prayers slipped through his lips, his eyes narrowed as he snapped the reins on his horse, which let out a high-pitched squeal. The air whipped around his helmet, and the landscape gave way around him, turning into a blur of colors and wasted time. His grip tightened on smooth leather and his knuckles grew white as his teeth clenched. He doubted that God would even be listening to his prayers, he had probably already been cast down into the bellows of hell. Lucifer with his claws tightly wrapped around Henry's soul, tainting his heart as the thunderous sound of hoofs clashing down against the cobblestone did nothing to distract him from the thought of who was awaiting him, Hans. It may be time to start praying to the Devil to help me arrive at my deliverance. My temptress. My sinful love.

I love you too, Hans Capon of Rattay. And I shall be the one to bring you home, Henry's thoughts faltered as his horse came up the side of a mountain and could see the fortress beneath the mountainside swarming with Prague soldiers, or be buried by your side.

as already mentioned in this post by @spectreshepard, let's talk Hansry's legs choreography, shall we?

first of all, when Henry makes up his mind, he crosses the room in just a few long strides. he doesn't normally walk like this, but here he rushes back, determined, as he has promised so many times already that he won't run away anymore

then, Henry is on his tiptoes. not only because he's actively reaching for Hans while already hugging him close, but also because he is just a tad shorter

then again, long resolute strides to the bed, Henry's legs surrounding and guiding Hans'. decision was made, and Henry is not backing out

this part is, unfortunately, mostly hidden from us due to the camera angle, but it's animated nonetheless as Henry kneels, gently lowering Hans on the bed (all while still supporting Hans' neck and back! Henry, you...)

and then there comes the most touching detail very quickly, Henry climbs over and scoots to the back of the bed, never stopping to cage Hans in with his body. meanwhile, his hands support his weight, as he's careful not crush Hans with it, not after the tiny prison cell, not after Nebakov, not after Hans shared his fear of tight spaces with Henry

and even after losing their closes, Henry continues to do this, his right hand under Hans' back and his left one either lightly placed on Hans' side or set firmly on the mattress (and we, of course, can't forget about Hans' strategically placed knee hiding PEGI 18+)

When did this come to pass? When did these feelings, the ones that he pushed down deep into his gut, bubble up and start to fester at the surface? When did the thought of taking another to warm his bed, cause such a strife in his heart? This wasn’t meant to happen…this was sinful and devilish, thoughts of hellfire and brimstone should have kept the temptations away. And yet, there he was, about to throw it all away, the chance at a warm night with company, the chance of a future partner, the chance at a normal life. And for what? A mere thought of sin?

All of these thoughts swirled in Henry’s mind as he made his way up to where Hans was staying. This could be the very last time that they saw each other, Henry might not have been a knight from birth, but he knew the odds.

so heres a thing my mother always said to me growing up when i broke something on accident that i think is really important

and i know, from watching my friends and seeing their panic and terror when something broke, that not only were not nearly enough children told this thing, many children were punished in place of being reassured

and thats heartbreaking

so heres the words from my mom that i was always told, and theyre the same words that anyone who never got to hear them should hear now, courtesy of my mom, who has repeated those same words to many a friend of mine and now to you

if i ever broke anything, the first words out of her mouth would always be and have always been, “are you hurt?” 

i would say no

she would say, “thats okay, then”

and i would ask why

and she would say “because it was just a thing- even if its a nice thing, or an old thing, or an expensive thing, its still just a thing. it can be replaced, or we can live without it. there is only one you. there will only ever be one you. you will always be more important than just some thing.”
