Echo chambers...a farce or the way our social media sphere operates?

I'll be the first to admit that I think echo chambers are real. And I'm sure I'm a part of a few, just as we all are. Not only do I believe that they exist, but they are not a net positive for our social media sphere. Interestingly enough, this article argues that the opposite is true. Writers at the University of Oxford argue that although echo chambers exist, they are not the threat we perceive them to be, specifically in regard to politics. In my time on social media, I have definitely encountered the political echo chambers; people who only believe their side of the spectrum is "right". I find over time that these are negative considering they cause us to be close-minded and reinforce our own beliefs. Regardless, I think reading this article is the perfect way to understand an opposing argument and fight the very idea it covers!
