"I'm a natural progression of the species. Evolution is a part of nature, and nature kills. Simple, right?"Sylar's innate ABILITY is intuitive aptitude, the power to determine exactly how things work. He uses this ability to take abilities from others that have them. With this ability comes a hunger for more knowledge and power. Sylar believes that it is this hunger that drives him to murder others and steal their powers.

It warmed Gabriel's heart to see someone appreciate a time piece like that. So many people were so engulfed in the newest technology and other material desires that things like watches were left in the past, forgotten. When he was shown the back, he leaned closer to look at the engraving with a soft smile on his face.
"It's alright, I promise you there is nothing to worry about." Gabriel had never had the opportunity to get drunk with someone that might be considered a friend, so he was actually pretty excited about it, even if the idea of drinking was a little frightening. He had no idea what it would feel like, but he was willing to find out. "And I'll join you for those drinks too, I could use a friend too."
He looked over the watch and hugged it to his chest. He couldn’t believe he had a piece of his family back. He flipped out and showed Gabriel the back, engraved with ’ Duval’.
“I’m sorry your maman couldn’t have it… If you’re sure. Company is always nice. But I’m serious about drinks tonight. I… I’m only a few months in this city. Need friends. Not that I stay long probably.”

"We get plenty of business and we're not in any monetary trouble, I wouldnt have offered if I couldn't afford to do this for you. You see, this is priceless to me." This was him trying to tell the man how important this was to him. He had done this because it made him feel good, and he greatly approved of the cause. If any watch in town was deserving of his magic touch, it was this one. "Unlike any of the other time pieces I've had my hands on, this one is special. That means something to me. And my lunch.. it's just lunch. I packed extra because I thought my mom would be here with me today, but she was called out to take care of other business. So I have two people's worth of food just sitting there."
He placed a reassuring hand on the other man's shoulder, looking him in the eye with kindness and genuine honesty. "If you insist on sharing whatever you have to offer, I won't deny you the peace, but I can assure you that it isn't necessary.
“This is how you make money. It’s an honest living. You’re a good man, doing this for me,” he said softly. He knew he didn’t have much money But he wanted to do something nice in return. That’s what he was taught after all.
“That’s your lunch. I can’t take that from you too,” He squeaked. The offer was enough to make him want to cry. “I… Do you drink? I… You can come to my place for drinks after work. I know that’s probably weird but…”
What was he doing? His apartment was falling apart. He didn’t know this man. But what else could he offer?

“The other person is dead.”  Gabriel said standing up cracking his neck a bit.  “People do not fuck over my family or anyone important to me for that matter”  He sighed as he watched Sylar.
Tumblr media
"Good," he replied simply, then cautioned to take a few steps closer. As someone with as much power (and the kill count) he had, Sylar wasn't easily spooked. "Now are you going to let me help you clean up so that you can relax?"

"Someone sure is grumpy tonight," Sylar replied, teasing the other man with a nonchalant shrug. "Be nice; now come on, let's get you cleaned up. I hope the other guy is worse off than you look, otherwise I've got a few lessons to teach you."

“What do you want?  Its been a long night”  Gabriel sighed.  “No its not my blood and no i’m not telling you whose it is”  Gabriel had been in yet another fight.  Someone said something rather offensive about his brother now someone was in the Hudson floating down stream

"It's really not a problem," he mused in return, quite taken by this man's compliments. Before this, he'd felt so invisible. So many things were so much better today, and all of those things were because of Armand. He felt like he was worth so much more so suddenly; it felt incredibly good to fix something so valuable and so special.
"If you insist, though I did pack myself quite a big lunch-- it's just in the fridge in the back, if you'd rather share that." He remembered the man saying he didn't have much money, he wanted to at least offer him a way to show his appreciation that would make time the only thing the other man spent on him. "Really, it's the company that would make it such a treat."
“You’re a wonderful man, M'sieur Gray. I’m going to let everyone know how great you are… Not that I really know anyone. But y'know, when I do talk to people,” he said cheerfully.
“Please, let me take you to lunch. You deserve some appreciation. You’ve given me back My family. The least I can do is make sure you’ve had something to eat. You work hard.”

A rare talent; Gabriel enjoyed hearing those words. He'd always wanted to be special, to have something good that other people did not. He hadn't ever thought that this skill made him special, but he was well aware of his talents.
"It's no problem, really. You said this was special to you, so it's special to me now too." A few more moments and a little more tinkering (with both hands and multiple tools) and there was a simple CLICK! followed by the gentle tik tik tik tik of a functioning watch. "Now to just...." This was more for himself, speaking out loud as he finished making sure everything was working right inside of the watch. Next, he looked at the Sylar watch on his wrist and fixed the hands on Armand's pocket watch so that it told the right time. All that was left was to close the watch face and make sure it was firmly put back together before blinking as he held it out to the other man. "Here, this should do it. A watch this beautiful and this meaningful should always function. I truly glad to have been able to help you with this." And he was; he hated feeling like his life was worth nothing, it was hard to accept the idea that all he would ever be was the son of a watchmaker. But right now? It felt pretty damned good to be who he was.
Armand watched him, intrigued by the man’s talent for fixing such tiny mechanisms. He was good with his hands but he could never fix a watch. The gears were easy, but the rest was hard.
“Born to do? Oui, probably. If you can fix such an old watch not even made here, you have a rare talent,” he smiled. “The most expensive shop said they couldn’t fix it.”
“I… Any time? M'sieur, I can’t have you fix it for free. I move around a lot. I do my best to keep it safe but I’m sure it’ll be out of time again in like a month. At least let me take you out to lunch or something. I… Words can’t thank you enough. Not in any language I know… If my papa was still alive, I would send him to your shop all the time…”

“By all means…. go right ahead…” Wrath said, inviting Sylar in as much as he could without actually being able to move. He raised a brow, waiting for the next move, delighted when it came in the form of a harsh pain between his brows. He didn’t scream, nor squirm, though he did let out what could almost have been mistaken as a moan, though clearly not one of pleasure. “Is that all you’re going to do to me?” Talking was getting harder but he refused to  show that at this point, wanting to hold a conversation as best he could, opting for a strained breath after his sentence instead of a bunch in the middle. “Please… try a little harder, love.” He couldn’t move his neck much, considering the choking, but he did manage to lift up part of his shirt with his left hand, showing off the absolute mess of scars that riddled his entire torso.
"You're a twisted one, aren't you?" Sylar commented, almost as if he wasn't just as twisted. He let his telekinetic grip slack just a little bit, not wanting to choke the breath out of the man. Now he was intrigued, beyond intrigued, and he did not want the man to pass out due to lack of oxygen. He didn't let go though, not wanting to lose his latest victim. "Did you do that to yourself?" He asked of the scars.
His next move was to pick up the object closest to him and throw it at the nearest and biggest glass surface. It shattered as expected, and then he brought that free hand up to hover beside him. At this point, he probably looked rather silly with one hand raised with his fingers curled as if he were gripping the man by the throat with his other hand hovering beside him. But the shards of glass rose as if magnetized towards that hovering hand. He already had a bit of an idea as to how this immortality thing worked, but he'd been a little distracted by that moan and wanted to be sure he had all of the answers. So he extended his fingers in one quick motion and the glass acted obediently, flying at the pinned man. Shards of various sizes were embedded into his flesh, some of which buried themselves into his torso so far that they couldn't be seen any longer while the bigger pieces jutted out of the man as if he were a pincushion. One even nicked his throat, slicing a major artery. The blood elicited no response from Sylar; unlike his companion, he was incredibly stoic.

Gabriel listened as the other man explained himself, happily taking a seat at his work bench and slouching over to direct his attention to the broken time piece. At this point in his life, he was a gentle and almost timid man, a man with high morals and a desire to do good. This felt right; what could be more right than using his extraordinary ability as a watchmaker to help this man regain the use of such a precious heirloom?
The sight of his excitement was proof enough that he had done the right thing and Gabriel felt his heart swell and his belly heat with the warmth of a job well done. Sighing contently, he pulled out a tool and began fiddling with the watch, easily popping the face off so that he could get at the gears behind it. Tinkering, he flipped the extra pieces of magnifying lenses on his working glasses so that he could see everything better. These glasses made him look like a mad scientist, but he didn't mind.
"This is what I love to do- what I was born to do," he replied. Honestly, he'd always wanted to be SPECIAL, to be something more than the son of a watchmaker, but... in moments like this, he was content with his station. "I'll get this working in no time, and I want you to come back if anything ever happens to it. I will fix this time piece every time. It's too important to be broken.”
“I sold everything I could get money for. I was kinda hoping it would be worthless. Then nobody would take it from me. And I wouldn’t sell it for d- anything. Kinda desperate right now,” he shrugged, watching the man examine his precious watch.
When Gabriel said he’d do it free of charge, tears welled in his eyes and his scarred bottom lip quivered. “Oh M'sieur! You’re sent by God,” he squeaked. Maybe God was real after all. He’d stopped believing years ago, but just maybe… “I won’t tell your father. I don’t wanna get you in trouble.”

tieflingsweetheart:
It was wrong how much Wrath was enjoying this. He wasn’t so much about the choking, and the blurred vision that came with it, but he loved a good challenge… a good bit of torture. It was something that fuelled him, made him only want to push his anger out at someone even more, he adored it. “Well… mostly…. because… you can’t kill me…” He gasped and choked, still smiling as he went. “But, please, try… your…. best…”
Can't kill him? Now that was an interesting little plot twist. An eyebrow arched with an obvious curiosity and he cautioned to take a step closer. He was still well out of reach, he wasn't stupid, but it was another sign of his intrigue.
"Now that would be most interesting," he replied finally, tilting his head as he raised his other hand. "I have to see how that works."
Finding out how things worked simply by watching them in action was Sylar's original super power, his evolved human ability. That was how he had stolen the power of telekinesis, which he was currently using to hold the other man up against that wall. With this ability to learn anything came a thirst to do just that, and there was no way he could pass up the opportunity to learn how to not die.
That raised hand curled into a gentle first with just his index finger unfurled, pointed in the other man's direction. Experimentally, he drew a line in the air, splitting the skin across the other man's forehead parallel to his hairline, perfectly in between his hair and his eyebrows. This wasn't enough to kill a normal person, not just yet, but if he continued to slice the top of the man's head off, it should be enough to kill anyone. For now, he wanted to see how the man dealt with pain and what his tolerance to it was; and how he managed to handle it physically without passing out or dying. Or was the man lying? He would soon find out.

"Then it is anything but worthless," Gabriel replied simply. If anyone understood the importance of a watch, it was him. Gently, he took the watch in hand and brought it to his ear so that he could listen. Even if a watch wasn't making the trademark ticking to show that gears were moving, it might still have functioning parts that moved inside. After a few seconds of concentration, he opened the watch like a locket would open, looking at the face to admire it for a moment.
"It's beautiful," he commented, then gestured for Armand to follow him back towards the work bench he'd been sitting at before. "Don't tell my father, but I won't be putting this in the books." Again, his glasses were swapped, this time he removed the normal glasses for the pair with all of the different lenses that allowed him to look at much smaller parts. "I'll do this for free, for the nostalgia."
He fumbled in his pocket for the old watch. He was nervous, though he didn’t know why. He was angry with himself for trekking all around town just to find his last stop was the cheapest. He should’ve stopped here first.
“I ain’t got much money. But this was my father’s… His father’s before him. His father’s too. Passed down. It’s old and probably worthless but… It means everything to me. My father died last year. I ain’t got much left of him,” He said, holding out the old French pocket watch.

Armand wasn’t quite so sure he could truly afford to have his pocket watch fixed, but it was his father’s and it meant the world to him. He had to at least ask about prices of local watch repairmen. When he came across this place, it was the last and he hoped he could spare the cash to fix it.
“I… Um… I was wondering how much you charge to fix pocket watches. Its kind of old. Not from this country. But it means a lot to me.”
Watching the other man enter the Gray family watch shop, Gabriel moved from his spot behind the counter, trading his watch maker's glasses for a pair of normal ones he'd had sitting beside him. As he settled them on the bridge of his nose, his posture and expression were warm and welcoming. In this shop, he was in his element. He was a master when it came to fixing things, especially watched. That left him feeling confident.
"Well, I'd have to take a look at it first; I can't quote the price for a problem I am unaware of. Our prices are the lowest in town though. Is there a specific budget you need me to work within?"

“ but for now i can stay ?? and you won’t leave either ?? ” parker asked, a grin on his lips as he looked up at gabriel with excitement. all he wanted was to BELONG and he felt that with gabriel. it wouldn’t bethe first time he’d put his life in harms way, and it probably wouldn’t be the LAST.
Tumblr media
"I won't leave either," Gabriel repeated to assure Parker, the lopsided and partially awkward smile betraying how good it felt that the other man hadn't wanted to let him disappear. "I don't know what I did to deserve you... but I'm glad for it." Heaven help him if he ever hurt this beautiful and innocent man.
