The 24th Monthly Bloodsport Brawl!
Celebrating two years of violence!
- Saturday the 25th -
- 7pm -
The Collective welcomes all to come and partake in a night of violent indulgences. Leave all concepts of honor, chivalry, and fairness at home and join the city’s best fighters as they vie for the crowd’s affections and the blood of their foes. In the pits, there is no place for weakness.
Fights are single combat ladder advancement. The only victory condition is to make your foe bleed, in any way that you are able. No weapons are permitted within the pits, and armor must be only from the waist down. Waist up, cloth is the only permissible covering. Leave the fancy swordplay and shells of steel to the nobility’s honor guard. Down here, we know that the only true test of a fighter is their own grit.
If you think you have what it takes to survive, or if you enjoy a little mayhem and violence like we do, then come and join us down at the Stormwind Docks (see attached image) on Saturday the 25th at 7 bells. Fighters are encouraged to show fifteen minutes early to ensure a spot. Prizes are on offer to the first and second place fighters.
OOC:
This month, to celebrate two years, we are putting up our biggest prize pool to date!
The first place champion will walk away with a Jeweled Onyx Panther mount as well as the biggest gold purse we have ever put on offer! The total combined value of the prize stretching over 200k. The second place runner up will walk away with a gold purse as well which itself is more than offered in past prize pools.
Combat is single elimination ladder, and fights are handled with base d20 rolls. Each fight will be moderated, assuring fairness and keeping things smooth, as well as answering any questions for new fighters/players. Several fights take place at the same time throughout the event, so spectators are welcome to amble around and choose the fight they most wish to watch at any given time.
To sign up, speak to or whisper Nayleen (in game toon name) on the night of the event. If you wish to reserve a spot, message @enigmatic-elegance on tumblr, but be certain that if you can’t make it to let them know as soon as possible so we can predict accurate fighter numbers.
All scores will be updated in real time, and a full ladder will be available to all on the day of the fight to follow the winners as they move up the rankings.
Any questions can be directed to @enigmatic-elegance on tumblr or Masnira in game.
Hosted by @coldwall-collective.
We hope to see you there!

Draecember #2 Tattoo
“It’s the midwinter festival, Gervas! I’m getting drunk and doing something stupid like you’re supposed to.” Zarenn grabbed his friend around the shoulders and tried pulling him out of his chair. His hooves left the ground a second later, and he found himself levitating a few feet above the ground. “Come oooooon, that’s not fair!”
“I have to go to work, Zarenn.” Gervas gently ended the spell, setting Zarenn down onto his hooves. “And I don’t drink, either. Besides, I told you a month ago that this was my year to be on duty at the clinic tonight. You know how much of a demand for healers exists on festival days.”
Zarenn sighed and sat down next to the desk, looking up at Gervas. “I know, but I was hoping… it’s not going to be the same without you.”
“Next year.” Gervas smiled and closed the book he’d been reading, setting it down on top of the stack. They were still living in Mac’Aree, with an apartment that was close to the clinic where Gervas worked, and to the peacekeeper’s barracks for Zarenn.
“But what if I have to be on duty next year?”
“Then I’ll volunteer to work in exchange for the year after, and we’ll be on the same schedule after that.” Gervas got up and hugged Zarenn. “Come on, brother. You know it’s just a couple of short years, and who knows? Maybe by year three I’ll feel comfortable having a drink or two.”
“Maybe. It’s up to you,” Zarenn said reluctantly. He wanted Gervas to stay safe, but half the fun of a festival was drinking entirely too much and doing something inadvisable. Last year, the mages had frozen the river’s surface over for sled races, which had turned into drunken mage-powered sled races, with the predictable end of more patients for the clinic.
Gervas grinned, knowing exactly what Zarenn was thinking about. “Don’t do that again,” he advised, knowing that his friend wouldn’t listen.
A shout from outside announced the arrival of their friends, and Gervas leaned out the window to yell his greetings…. along with a few warnings that he didn’t want to see any of them in the clinic tonight. After he’d seen them off, he ate dinner with Zarenn’s parents and left for the clinic, accepting the traditional gifts of treats and cakes from others along the way. Most of the city was more than generous with gifting to the clinic, especially for this festival.
Not that they had much of a chance to actually eat the treats, Gervas reflected a few hours later. He washed his hands and turned to the next patient. “How can I- Zarenn?”
There was Zarenn, grinning like he’d just been promoted to guard captain. He swayed a bit on his hooves, the grin turning into a laugh. “Gervas! Look at this!”
He whipped off his shirt, turning around so Gervas could see the brand new tattoo on his right shoulder. “Isn’t it magnificent?”
“Oh no,” Gervas blurted out. The tattoo featured two crossed swords over what he suspected was supposed to be the peacekeeper’s sigil. And would have been, if the tattoo artist had been sober when they’d done the work. The swords met at a very odd angle, and the sigil looked like it had been drawn by a talbuk. “I… Zarenn, yes, that’s a very nice tattoo.”
“It’s perfect!” With a whoop, Zarenn spun around and put his shirt back on. “And now, I go! But don’t worry! Next year, we’ll get you a tattoo to match.”
Gervas shook his head, beckoning the next patient in. “No,” he said softly, as he turned to get clean bandages from the shelf. “Next year, we will not be getting me a tattoo.”

It’s that time of the year! The best time of the year.
It’s that time of the year again! Last year’s challenge was a huge success and a lot of you were asking if there’s going to be another one this year, so here we go!
What is Draecember?
Draecember is an event for all draenei fans out there, created with the intention of celebrating our favorite WoW race in a creative way and enjoying each other’s work! The event starts on December 1st and ends on the 31st.
Rules:
Draw your draenei or write a short story about them.
You can follow the prompt lists, but if you don’t feel like following them, you can also come up with original ideas!
As said before, you don’t need to keep up with the lists. If you can’t keep up for whatever reason, that’s fine! Create as much as you like, even just one drawing/short story is already amazing!
Please try to keep it SFW! I know sometimes it’s tempting to make NSFW pieces, but I want to keep the challenge safe for younger folks. Thank you!
If you post your piece on social media, please tag it as #Draecember2018 so we can find each other’s works more easily!
We also have a Discord!
Happy Draecember, everyone!

Boosting this as well! I’m taking a year off from NaNoWriMo, but still want to do some fun writing in honor of the month.
Mac’s Writing Challenge: Origin Story
Hello, my darlings, and Welcome to Mac’s November Tumblr Challenge. This month, I want to try something different. I know many have wrapped up Inktober for writing and art, and to be honest, I just didn’t want to stop there.
I did some writing prompts back in July and really enjoyed how each shared the deeper thoughts and backstory to their character. So, with that thought in mind, I am going to be posting a writing prompt every day, or close to it (I’m not perfect), to challenge you to create/share a story of your muse.
Now, not every challenge will require a story that competes with Tolkien. There will be prompts that only require only a paragraph or two and others that require a little more meat to really do the tale justice. If you want to answer them with a story, go for it! If you prefer to just answer with something short and sweet, that is perfectly fine as well.
As always, these prompts are entirely optional. The important part is to have fun while you share your wonderful creation with us! I look forward to reading them all.
-Mac
What better place to start this challenge than at the beginning? It’s time for some origin stories!
If you are a supernatural being (i.e. worgen), tell the story of how you became what you are or and how it changed you from your old human self.
If you are just a normal human, tell a story of any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today.
Reblog or Tag your friends and fun characters, my loves. Challenge them to share their stories.

Reblogging my own stuff because I want to keep writing about Gerv and Z when they were littles.
Draecember 28- Getting into trouble
Mac’Aree, Argus
“Don’t forget, if you see anyone come running out of the gate, we run. I won’t be watching, so you have to.” Gervas grabbed Zarenn by the shoulder when it became apparent his friend was not listening.
“What?”
“Did you hear anything that I just-”
“Yes! Yes, you’ve gone over how to anchor for you a hundred times and I get it. We’ve practiced. You screw with the mages and I watch for their guards. When you get caught, we both run.” Zarenn bounced a bit on his hooves, eager to be started. Playing pranks ranked among his favorite things to do, and pranking the arcane students was better than just about anything.
“What do you mean, when I get caught?” Gervas retorted, with a glare that would have done Zarenn’s grandmother proud.
Zarenn grinned and ducked well out of swinging range before replying. Gervas certainly wasn’t much of a brawler and nobody in their right mind would let him near a Jed’hin ring, but he could occasionally get lucky with a punch. “You always get caught!”
“I’m working on it.” Gervas’ shoulders drooped and he turned away. He saw Zarenn move out of the corner of his eye with a concerned look on his face, and swung. Zarenn caught the punch and twisted Gervas into an armlock, laughing.
“I gotta teach you how to fight.”
Gervas snorted and pulled free. “You keep saying that. I go running with you, isn’t that enough?”
“It’s a start,” Zarenn said doubtfully, leading the way towards the arcane conservatory. “At least you don’t spend all your time holed up in some room, studying.”
“I like being around others too much to isolate myself that way. Besides, I’ll never get better at this if all I do is sit around studying. I need practical experience.”
“Which is why you roped me into going to mess with some of the arcanists.”
“You volunteered!” Gervas grinned and thumped Zarenn on the shoulder. “This should be close enough.”
Zarenn nodded and took up a casual position, leaning against the side of a building. Across the street, the walls of the Conservatory glowed with arcane lights that swirled around the intricate designs etched on the stone. Yells and shouts from some sort of game reached their ears, and he grinned. He tried not to jump when he felt Gervas’ thoughts invade his own. Sorry, he heard. I forgot to warn you.
“It’s okay. Just remember…”
Don’t tell your parents anything I hear you thinking about. Gervas grinned at him, as comfortable now holding a conversation mentally as he was with speaking out loud. I won’t. I keep secrets, and I’d never betray your trust.
Zarenn grinned, idly watching the patrols as they circled around the walls. When there was a break, he gave Gervas a nod and waited. He sensed Gervas focusing his attention on the group of students playing handball, moving from mind to mind until he noticed someone with weaker mental shields. A thud, a crash, and yelling erupted from behind the courtyard’s wall. Oops.
“What do you mean, oops?!” Zarenn grabbed Gervas under the arm and lifted him to his hooves, ready to tow him along if he had to, but his friend broke the connection and focused on him instead.
“We’d better run.”
“Do you think!” A ball of ice sailed over the wall, crashing harmlessly into the sidewalk beside them. The next two did not miss.
Gervas raced away, laughing. A flurry of ice and snowballs chased the pair down the street, several hitting their mark with uncanny accuracy. They reached the safety of an alleyway and ducked down it, running until they were safely out of spell range.
“You never…” Zarenn said in between gasps for breath. “… said what oops meant.”
“I got caught. And I startled my target, who lost control of the ball, and it shattered one of those stone planter things.”
Zarenn’s jaw dropped. “Just what kind of ball are they playing in there?”
“Some sort of arcane thing.” Gervas dug a handful of snow out from under his collar and licked it. “Next time, let’s wait until they’re done their match.”
“Next time, let’s hope they don’t throw any of that arcane at…” Zarenn trailed off, mid-sentence, looking over Gervas’ shoulder. “Oh, damn.”
Gervas turned around to see what had his friend’s attention, his gaze falling on a pair of peacekeepers. They returned the look with a mix of sternness and amusement for a minute, before beckoning the two of them over.
“Oh damn, indeed.”

Not what Gervas might think, but I do have a certain vindicator who likes this quite a bit.
If they stand behind you, give them protection.
If they stand beside you, give them respect.
If they stand if front of you, watch their back. And if they stand against you, show them no mercy.

One minute I’m merrily killing random witches and wildlife, and the next I’m having genuine feels over the inscription on this Lost Sailor’s Memorial that I stumbled across.
Kudos to whomever wrote that. It’s haunting and poignant enough to have come from a real-life book, but the references to Azeroth’s moons make it feel like absolutely belongs in Kul Tiras.

Why don't I feel like I'm a good person?
because you’ve got the inside view.
see, you see all your nasty thoughts as they pass by. you feel all those mean impulses; you catch every terrible thing you think about a friend, you have to watch yourself procrastinate on important stuff and be lazy when you feel like you should be working. you get front-row seats to all the awfulness that comes with being a person. and you only get that view of yourself, not of anyone else. so naturally, since you can’t see all the internal flaws in everyone else, it seems like they don’t have them–but you do.
the secret is that everyone has those flaws.
if being a good person is something you strive for–if you keep those nasty thoughts inside your head instead of directing them at other people, if you support your friends instead of pushing them down, if you try your best at what you do–then i promise you, you’re a good person. and even if you fail at that stuff sometimes, all it takes to be a good person is to keep trying.
there’s nothing any more bad about you than there is about loads of other people.
ask your friends if you’re a good person–when it comes to things like this, they probably see you more clearly than you do yourself. trust them. if they say ‘yes, of course’ then you’ll know you don’t have to worry. if they say no, you can ask them why, and then strive to change those things about yourself.
just remember that if it seems like everyone else is a better person than you, it’s only because you can’t see what’s happening inside them. trust me–everyone struggles to do the right thing sometimes. even steve.
you’re a good person. even if you don’t feel like it.
