I really thought I could get this done in like four posts but, no. It's gonna be more like fifteen, and it's gonna take long cause I'm super busy right now, so have patience. I love doing this!
Let's cut to the chase:
Tumblr media
Have you ever heard someone say "the eyes are the mirror to one's soul"? Well, they were right.
Brian here looks like he's joking, but he's actually worried. Probably because he recognizes himself in Dexter's behaviours.
Tumblr media
Here Dexter was busy washing the dinner plates, so you could argue that him giving his back to Brian wasn't a deliberate choice.
Still, I feel like had it been Deb or Rita, he would've turned around.
Brian, once again, chooses to turn his full attention to Dexter, trying to break him a little at a time (with the talk about how it's possible that Harry lied to Dexter about his family).
Tumblr media
This may be the only moment in the show where we can see Brian sincerely looking pissed at Dexter.
And it's because Dexter is a little bit too smart and figured out exactly how Brian killed Joe without even needing proof of it.
Man is gritting his teeth here.
See how Brian looks defeated over here?
It's almost as if he's resigned rather than sad and defeated. What I've always interpreted here was Brian perceiving Dexter's explaination of Joe's murder as Dexter looking at him — undirectly, obviously, since Dexter doesn't know it was him —like a puzzle to solve rather than a person.
His slouched posture also suggests he could be holding back, possibly due to his realization that Dexter seems to care about Joe Driscoll, their father, more than Brian expected him to. It looks like Brian's half-regretting what he did, afraid that if Dexter were to find out it was him who killed Joe, he wouldn't be accepted anymore.
Tumblr media
This little frame here:
It comes a short time after Deb's outburst at Dexter for the "He wasn't even you real family! Mom and dad were. I am!"
Deb is implying her, Doris and Harry as the "real" family, completely attacking Brian's emotional anchor to Dexter and pushing him out of the picture as if trying to tell Dexter that even if he were to find other family outside of Joe, her and the Morgans would come first as the real family.
She's undirectly erasing the bond Brian's trying desperately to reclaim, and that doesn't sit right with him.
His arms being crossed over his chest is what's called a self-hug that people usually make to emotionally regulate, protect, and comfort themselves.
Brian is actively shielding himself against the emotional hit he just received and he's trying to keep his composure.
Tumblr media
With Brian the eyes are always the main focus. You need to look at those to know what he's really thinking.
Here Dexter was surprised that Rudy would be willing to cover for him with Deb by telling her that he (Dexter) went out for a walk.
It's amost as if Brian is trying to convince him that "yes, I would lie to m girlfriend for you."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here the two main emotions: shock/slight disgust and relief one after the other.
In the first picture he looks at Dexter with shock/disgust because it's clear he didn't expect Dexter to outright steal their father's ashes from the crematory.
And in the second picture, it's full relief when he finds out Joe has been cremated before Dexter could analyse the body and find out exactly how he died.
Tumblr media
This scene has two different main points
Brian trying to bond with Dexter over their father's death.
Especially due to the fact that he's leaning slightly forward, he's using a softer voice and a slower speech. These are all ways one says "I'm here with you. Feel what I feel".
2. Brian trying to subtly sway Dexter away from the Morgans. Especially with his talk about "No matter what Harry said. No matter what Deb thinks. This is your father."
Here, he's trying to use his facial expressions to break through to Dexter.
His eyes look bigger than usual, which is a sign that he's more open and receptive. This alongside his seemingly relaxed jaw muscles — which removes the defensive tension from the person — mean that he's actively letting down his guard now that he's with Dexter alone.
Both of these points together signal his want for connection. And, if you add the steady eyecontact and head tilt — which you can clearly see from the picture — it can signal romantic or intimate feelings too.
Tumblr media
You can clearly see just how much Brian is pissed internally at Deb for having interrupted his second bonding moment with Dexter.
He's not really pursing his lips inward as much as he did in other scenes, but he's very close to doing it.
Tumblr media
LOOK AT THE EYES OF JEALOUSY!
I don't really need to say anything else, right?

Is it daddy issues? Probably. Has that man turned 100 times finer than he was in 2006 now that he has some grey here and there and his expression lines are more pronounced? ABSOLUTELY!
This man ages like fine wine: the more time passes the better he "tastes".
Sylvia is such a lucky woman!
Also, his hands!! Goddammit those hands!! Im in love! 💚
what if i say that current christian camargo is hotter than 2006 christian camargo..

I haven't abandoned the analysis eh! It just takes a lot of time, especially now that those two are present in every scene together 😅
I'll do my best to complete them by the end of the month — up to Nebraska — and then we'll see the new scenes in Resurrection, hoping Christian and Michael maintained the og chemistry between these two freaks!

Once again, I'm curious, since some killers had their own songs:
Brian Moser – Born Free by Andy Williams
Oliver Saxon/Daniel Vogel – Make Your Own Kind Of Music by Mama Cass
Kurt Caldwell – Runaway by Del Shannon
Arthur Mitchell – Venus by Frankie Avalon
what do you think would be the theme songs of the other killers? Others like:
Miguel Prado
Isaac Sirko
Travis Marshall
Gareth (Gemini)
Mia Lapierre (Lady Vengeance)
Al (Rapunzel)
Lowell (the Tattoo Collector)

Im reposting this because HOW DID I NOT NOTICE???
Add it to the analysis!
there's this really small moment you can't see unless you pause on the exact frame but after brian gets overexcited and hugs dex instead of shaking his hand he has this really bashful borderline embarrassed expression on his face looking at dex afterwards and it's hilarious. he turns into a little child after he realizes what he did

I dont really want to bitch of the situation but they gave Deb AN ENTIRE SEASON of her (at least what Dexter’s brain projected as her) being a pain in the ass to Dexter because he was guilty for her death and you mean to tell me I actively have to wait probably the LAST FUCKING EPISODE to have five minutes, if I'm lucky, of Biney?????
Edit: Also, NINE FUCKING SEASONS OF HARRY (considering Resurrection).
COME ON!!
I wasn't so excited for Christian's return to be fed a single breadcrumb.
Why did they make Deb a recurring character for a whole season but all we got of Brian was FOURTEEN years ago in Nebraska????
How hard is it to see that the fans love this man and want more of him??

I *love* that scene where Brian hugs Dexter. When you first watch it you go "Man, that guy's being overly friendly." but when you rewatch you go "Oh." It's such a perfect scene. His smile, everything. I don't even blame him for going in for the hug. Debs face in that scene always gets me too. She looks ecstatic X). That scene where he makes the "I'm armed" joke also always gets a smile out of me because he looks so ":|" when he says it. Like he's following a script of how to be funny instead of anything genuine.
I really enjoy how thorough you're being. This has been a pleasure to read so far.
I'm glad we view those scenes the same way 💚 (also, why didn't I think of describing Brian's face like :| ? It's the prefect way to do it 😂)
Thank you. I have been waiting a long time to get a chance to hyper-analyse every scene with these two to point out each detail people missed, like the expression change Brian did as Rudy.
There's a lot of scenes where if you don't pay attention closely it's a matter of seconds if not fractions of seconds.

Sorry of this took a while but my PC decided to do that fun thing where the WiFi icon disappears altogether from everywhere — yes, even the settings — and I had to power flush it and reboot it like seven times before it decided to come back to me.
ANYWAY, here's the continuation of the episode 9 analysis (P.S. I really wish Tumblr allowed more than ten pics per post because I'm going crazy over here).
Tumblr media
He's very comfortable around Rita. Maybe because he doesn't view her as a threat or because he genuinely likes her (like in the books).
Her hands look strange because I have to take the pictures as the video is playing so it's a matter of camera exposure.
Anyway, his kissing her cheeks as a greeting could also be related to his — supposed — time in France at the university Paris-Sorbonne, since this form of greeting is particularly diffused in Europe (and I would know, as an Italian, since everyone greets you like this here).
In extra, you can notice how she wasn't expecting it in the slightest and, much like Dexter, she keeps her hands in front to keep the distance due to discomfort.
Tumblr media
This I want to point out only to reinforce my previous statement:
Physical touch is Brian's main love language — and also self-soothing mechanism.
In this case, the body's directioning is affected by the seating choices and so it isn't truly indicative of their actual thoughts and preferences regarding the people around them.
Their heads though still communicate to us.
While Deb turned towards Rita as she had just spoken up, Brian's remains focused on Dexter, not breaking the eye contact for a second.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here it's their eyes that are important.
Brian is putting him on the spot by asking him to decide what they're going to do, and Dexter is taken aback as his eyes clearly read "I didn't expect that!", and his holding that look for more than a few seconds cements his disbelief in place.
Tumblr media
See how both Brian and Deb are smiling after Dexter decides they can all sleep in Joe's house?
They're not smiling much because of Dexter's decision in itself but rather because it came from Dexter.
And while Deb's smile is more of a "good choice, brother!", Brian's is more of a pleased look that inherently tells us he's proud of his own achievement with Dexter — that being having gotten to chat a little more with him, solidifying their relationship a bit at a time.
This entire scene is pretty important for both of their analysis.
Dexter actively believes he's the only one to get up so early because he's not normal, which Brian proves wrong since he's had the time to get dressed, comb his hair — and with curls like his that can take a while — and also brew some coffee all before Dexter walked in.
This little detail may seem insignificant at first, but to Dexter it's subtly hinting at Brian's similarity to him.
The scene that follows — where Dexter thanks him — has a split moment where it looks like Dexter is surprised but, differently from before, in a positive way. He's appreciating the offer and also subconsciously recognizing that there's more to Rudy that meets the eye.
At Dexter's refusal, Brian's smile drops. He didn't expect to be shut off so quickly and it shows.
He still asks if Dexter wants company, to which you can see Dexter's discomfort and almost a hint of disgust. Dexter's eyes flicker side to side for a moment, while he ties his shoelaces, signaling his discomfort and bewilderment at the question. Then, just like his brother, he resets his facial expression to fit the social norm and smiles, kindly thanking Rudy for the offer but dismissing him once again.
When he sat down, Brian's entire body was turned towards Dexter and open to him, in a way to show Dexter he could also be open and free with him. By the time Dexter refuses him again we can see Brian choosing to cross one leg over the other rather than keeping them apart like they were when he sat down. This can be interpreted as a way of Brian's to create a partial physical barrier, which can indicate both emotional self-protection and mild defensiveness. He's now disinterested and trying to distance himself from the situation.
I'm sorry for the people following this analysis so far that simply like Brian, but this was intended as a Mosercest-focused analysis (I was the one who turned it into a mostly-Brian's-body-language-analysis).
So, from here on, every scene I will analyse with them together could have an explaination regarding the more romantical rather than platonical interpretation of the body language.
I am obviously here to stick to the facts and not to make up things, so that's what I'm going to do. If you're not comfortable with Mosercest, this is your sign to stop reading. Thank you.
Back to us, let's continue the analysis of this scene with the last point:
Look at Brian's face when Dexter looks up at him. He's happy, and what appears to be enamoured. Christian — the actor playing Brian, for anyone who may not know — has a way of smiling that actively makes his ears shoot up and his face pull back slightly when it's genuine. Here you can only see a little upturn of his lips and that full-on focused-only-on-Dexter stare. Brian's calm and relaxed but, most importantly, he's looking at somehing he loves. Sadly the pupil dialation thing — the human pupil can dialate up to 40 percent when looking at something we love — can't really be faked, nor do we have the time in this scene to witness it happening.
Tumblr media
The next scenes are filled to the brim with shots aimed at Brian and Dexter's hands holding rope, filling plastic bags, tying knots, and using blades (cutters).
This is not much a body language analysis as it is me wanting to point out how much the writers tried to push their similarities to us and we never noticed (at least I never did before now).

To continue the analysis, on to episode 9!
Has anyone ever pointed out that little smirk Brian pulls unconsiously before correcting it with a worried expression asking "Really?" as if he wasn't the one who killed Joe and set this whole other part of the plan in motion?
My man looked overly proud of his own doing, for a moment, before realizing that "hey, maybe I shouldn't look proud regarding Dexter's biological father's death".
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This man should get some sort of prize for "Master at switching the conversation's topic to my brother".
Also notice just how relaxed his face looks since Deb cannot see it from her position on his stomach? That's, once again, the real Brian showing through. He takes any chance he gets to drop the mask even for just a second, telling us just how much of pain it is to have to keep it up 24/7, even if he's better than Dexter at it.
Also, he actively stops, thinks about how to convince her to go on the weekend at Joe Driscoll's house with Dex and Rita and, in that moment, it almost looks like he's thinking about what would convince him rather than his brother.
Brian doesn't know how to ask for help when he's in a shit of a situation, because nobody ever truly helped him — and the ones who did endeed up betraying him in the long run, like Raul. He's suggesting what would work with him — showing up and being there, even when not having been asked before — because he's sure it would work with his baby brother too.
Tumblr media
FINALLY THEIR MEETING LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!!!
Look at pookie!! That's another true smile right there! The light reaching both is eyes even when half of his face is in the shadows! And the lips being both upturned all through, and downturned at the corners, as if he's figuring out how to look for Dexter.
Tumblr media
Especially because this is the face Dexter pulls when greeting him.
He's wary. He didn't expect them and Brian most likely miscalcuated his move. What would have worked with him is actually a pain to deal with for Dexter who, even though he needed the help, would have never asked and would have never wanted people to show up out of the blue.
Tumblr media
Brian here is partially ignoring that.
If we look at the actual body language in this scene, you'll notice something pretty clear:
Brian's body is turned towards Dexter and, in part, the door.
Dexter's body is mostly turned towards Debra.
This because our body talks more than we do, even when we don't. Since in this scene we cannot see their feet — which would actually give a much more accurate analysis — we can only focus on head and torso.
Dexter's torso angled towards Deb, while his head is angled towards Brian. This means Dexter feels socially obligated to face "Rudy" but would much rather prefer being with Deb alone.
While Brian, on the other hand, has both torso and head angled towards Dexter. This means that, in his eyes, Dexter is his preferred conversational partner whome he's comfortable with and interesed in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here, as one could see by the previous scene, Brian was originally going to comply to social norms — meaning he was going for a handshake as that's what you'd expect your sister's boyfriend to introduce himself with. In fact, Dexter himself was offering his hand, very clearly aware of this unwritten rule of humanity.
Dexter isn't very appreciative of the unwanted physical contact. He's now even more wary of Rudy and is also slightly pissed at Rudy's actions, his hand seemingly staying between their stomachs as if to have some sort of control on the distance between their bodies. All of Dexter's actions point toward discomfort, disinterest, and suspicion.
Brian, though, decides to go for the hug because he wants it. He'd been waiting for that moment for something close to 32 years at that point, and no one was going to stop him from the body-to-body contact he so much craved.
Little thought here to end this part of the episode's analysis, I'm pretty sure that if we'd seen more of Brian we would have noticed how his main love languages are physical touch and acts of service. He actively craves physical contact with Dexter and is willing to not only go through extenuating chores (killing the call girls and setting up the scenes, to not talk about the time spent in a walk in freezer) but also take care of Dexter when he knows Dexter wouldn't have done it by himself (cooking for him later in the episode).
