How to lose a guy
http://ow.ly/DOUiQ
By: Amy Yew
We’ve all made silly mistakes in relationships that lost a guy at one point or another. Most of us look back and wonder why we ever let our irrational selves out to play and vow to never be “that girl” again in a relationship. Relationship fears are a real thing and we all have certain things that trigger us to run for the door. Here are a few common ones to not do if you want a guy to stick around:

Local boutique Rebecca Bree has caught onto the demand to have their items available for a growing online customer base. “Even though my store is in Kitsilano, some people find it’s a little out of their way to come in and would rather shop in the comfort of their own home”, says Rebecca Rawlinson who is the owner of the boutique. Rawlinson has worked with luxury designers such as Oscar de la Renta, Dolce and Gabbana and luxury retailer Holt Renfrew. When it comes to fashion, there’s no doubt that Rawlinson has a critical eye for style.

Bragging about your relationship on Facebook is linked to insecurity
http://ow.ly/DtC5X
By: Amy Yew
Declaring your love for someone on Facebook is a pretty big deal these days. It’s really a version of cyber PDA (public displays of affection). We all have at least one person on Facebook or twitter that’s all about their relationship. You have an inside look into all aspects of their relationship (the highs and the lows), every memorable trip and every romantic gesture their partner enacts is carefully documented into a public album of thoughts and photos.
As a person who has always been sensitive to the eek factor when it comes to over sharing and cheesy romantic attempts, one can’t help but wonder what is someone trying to prove by obsessively posting about their reltaionship? Is that person bragging? Are they trying to drive home a point about their relationship?

Are you using your social media contacts to keep the back burner warm?
http://ow.ly/DeONr
By: Amy Yew
Who’s on your social media list? Why do you follow these people and how many of them have you had a romantic encounter with? There are many reasons to keep an ex on your friend list but it also seems masochistic that we sometimes keep exes that jilted us at one point or another on social media. However, study shows that 9 out of 10 people keep their exes on social media to spy on them. Even after partners have moved on, 74% still continue to keep their ex on social media. Researchers say that most people keep their ex to scrutinize their ex’s current mate. It’s not all bad news that you still follow your ex on social media. In fact, those who un-friended their ex report feeling higher levels of distressed and higher feelings of rejection also increased social media spying behavior.

Only 1 in 5 women accurately detect someone flirting with them
http://ow.ly/COw8b
By: Amy Yew
Knowing someone is interested in you isn’t always as easy as it seems. Daters often misread signals from interactions as someone showing signs of romantic interest rather than simply being friendly. It can be even more complicated when you’re trying to figure out whether you’re securely in the “friend zone” or if there’s a potential to cross over to a romantic relationship with that person. Getting it wrong can often be a source of embarrassment or a source of hurt when it comes to self worth. Getting it wrong a lot can also leave you feeling jilted and pessimistic about approaching anyone.
With the advent of online relationships, daters often feel a sense of anonymity and will often rate rejection from a love interest as less hurtful. Even though most daters are aware that possible rejection is just part of the dating experience, how are we getting and wrong and what can we do about it?

A how to guide on Parisian style
http://ow.ly/CzJ3d
By: Amy Yew
Paris Fashion Week came to a close a week ago but we’re still inspired by the incredible street style and runway collections from this season. Parisian style has been something that people from all around the world attempt to emulate while some argue that unless you’re from Paris, you’ll never truly embody the essence of it.
Parisian style is alluring for several reasons: it’s effortless, timeless and elegant. Paris women just seem to get it. There are some basic elements to achieving a Parisian chic look:
-Don’t believe in false absolutes like slim fit is for skinny people, black makes you look slimmer and you shouldn’t wear white after labour day.
-Believe in the power of accessories. This can really elevate an outfit.
-Don’t over think what to wear. Parisian style is a pulled together effortless look.
-Class it up: Don’t be afraid to class up something simple like jeans or a plain dress shirt. You can even pair a dress with a denim jacket for contrast.
