rating: this took me completely by surprise. i expected some generic fantasy and instead i was thrown into a melancholic world where humanity can no longer use fire. it’s a wonderful thought experiment and beautifully quiet for sci-fi.

rating: this anime feels like the makers were like: “ok we need an anime that appeals to girls and boys equally. how about we make the first half of the episode a slice of life cute girl-friends growing up together, and add in the second half we add random action scenes about aliens?” and then forgot to make it cohesive.
