In general, I want someone to share my tastes with. My sensibilities. I'm curious about what I'm capable of, and I would like someone to be curious alongside me...with the same gentleness that they [should] give themselves. And it need not be a prison. It need not be a promise that can't be kept. I wish we could share freedom with each other. The question I want to ask you is: do you know how to go home? Are you skilled at returning to yourself with your dignity intact?

a word on so called “thanksgiving” …
New York Times Op-Ed feature:
“To me, Thanksgiving is about food sovereignty. Food sovereignty means more than ending hunger. It also means building community, ensuring that the people who grow our food are paid a fair wage and protecting the land our food comes from for future generations.”

Well. This feels like, not the end of a chapter, but the end of an entire story. I miss how we used to be, and we will never get it back. Life requires that I do something else now.

You are not obligated to heal the way they think you should. You are not obligated to be the person they think you should be after trauma.
It’s okay to just be you. It’s okay to heal the way you need. And honestly, it should be about you. It’s more than okay to take care of yourself how you need to.

Y’all, I worked at the Whitney museum for sometime & got to experience this piece on a daily basis… it is so phenomenal (!!!).
Jay DeFeo is best known for this monumental painting, entitled The Rose, which she started in 1958 and completed over the course of eight years. The piece consists of white and gray paints layered so thickly onto the canvas that, in some ares, the paints are almost eight inches thick. She used so much oil paint that she called it “a marriage between painting and sculpture.“
The Rose measures 7.5 x 11 feet and weighs 2,300 pounds,
