Everyone has their own concept of monstrosities, of evil and darkness. Not all things are seen the same, some look evil and bad but are scared or sweet, misunderstood by those around them, branded as something they are not until they are.
More times than not, however, I have a found ugly things hide behind beautiful masks.
More times than not I have found humans to be the ugliest of them all.
In all my years as a monster hunter I have never felt fully at peace when a human is near. Lots are harmless, ugliness guarded behind rules and morals. Monstrosities hidden away like yokes in an egg shell. Fortified and hidden but only the smallest of pressure in the rights spots can cause a crack.
It is with this that I learned that humans should be watched out for as most of the things they have called dangerous or monstrous was of their own fiction to support their actions against the creature.
That is why I find my self yet again standing in front of one of these villains as they stared at me with a gaping jaw. The poor creature behind them cowering slightly before sprinting off to get away from the monster that had been whipping it. The crowd that was around stared in horror and froze to their spot as I removed my blade from the man’s chests and allowed for him to drop to the ground.
Humans were the easiest to kill, fragile beings with so little to protect themselves with.
“What the hell we hired you to kill the monsters running around not our neighbors!” I man stepped forward holding an axe, his brows drawn together as he snarled.
“Oh? But I did indeed kill the monster as you requested.” I flicked the blood off my blade before sheathing it once again, tilting my hat into place.
“No you killed Frank! You let the beast go!” More rallied behind him weapons brandished as some took cover elsewhere, smart.
“No I let a harmless, scared, creature go, I killed a monster.” I tilt my hat back allowing my eyes to come into sight. “You seem to forget that I am a monster hunter, not… a supernatural hunter, I only hunt that which is truly monstrous.”
I step forward, the humans braced in fear before I slip through space to return to my home. I did not have time to deal with the musings of monsters. I did not have time to deal with their fragile little shells breaking, but should they give me reason… I shall hunt them like all the rest.
“Why did you kill the human instead of the monster?” “Umm… I DID kill the monster?” “NO YOU DIDN’T! YOU LET IT GO!” “Listen, I let an innocent, scared creature go, helping him by killing the person cornering him. I’m a MONSTER hunter, not a SUPERNATURAL hunter.”

Theory Time
So this has been bugging me for awhile, and I know some people have pointed it out or must of thought about it, but I haven’t seen much directly behind this.
Sans knows about you specifically. How do I deduce this if you don’t know, well I got two major point for this for sure.
First off is the very first time you met Sans and Papyrus comes in. Sans turns to the screen after making the pun instead of the human and at no other time and with no other character do we see this. He breaks the fourth wall by doing this because he’s addressing an adeance that's he shouldn’t know is there.
Secondly, is the hacker ending. You don’t know what that is? Well if you hack the game at one point Sans will ask “you’re just a dirty hacker, aren’t you?” He knows and as such he knows that this is a game of some sort, or at least something that can be tampered with.
That and the headcannon that you are Chara and have just possessed Frisk to do what ever you want, I mean you get to name Chara, they are just you as a character.

This would all make sense considering of the fact that people irl voices change too be it more horse when sad or yelling, or deeper when serious or sleepy. I get like that people I know people who get like that, and then theirs the fact that people will change their voice for fun such as the first example.
Why does Papyrus not do this? Perhaps it’s because he is always speaking at a loud volume no mater what the emotion so the tone doesn’t really come through.
As for the others if I remember correctly Undyne’s dialogue has also been full caps when yelling and Alphys’s has been smaller, but my memory could be incorrect on that.
Either way this story partly one of visual storytelling as we don’t get voices so what better way to show how the characters are feeling besides what they say as to how they say it with this subtitle changes that the brain will notice even subconsciously.
Maybe I’m just being my way through this thought too, but eh.
You've mentioned multiple times now Sans canonically switching fonts if I'm not mistaken? What/when are the instances of those?
To be precise, he switches from comic sans to the standard Determined font, so you could also technically call it "turning off his typeface".
there's four notable examples that come to mind
When we first meet him:
he even spaces the letters apart sightly, which implies he's talking slowly and deliberately. this fits two explanations, one doylistic: we don't know him yet, nor do we know the connection between skeletons and fonts so suddenly seeing dialogue in comic sans would break the tension in the scene; and one watsonian: he's trying to scare the crap out of you, so he uses the most terrifying voice he can make.
At the MTT Resort date
Yup. This one pretty much cements the interpretation that he switches fonts to sound scarier. He even does the creepy "music cuts out, speaks slowly and spaces the letters apart for maximum effect" he did in Snowdin Forest. But moving on,
In the Final Hallway
While it's definitely meant to mirror our first meeting, what with the foreground elements hiding his appearance/disappearance, our being backlit throughout the whole scene, and the complete lack of music... there's no way that the player doesn't recognize his silhouette, and knowing the whole speaking in fonts shtick, seeing comic sans shouldn't break the scene anymore.
he's not spacing the letters apart like the previous occasions and he's speaking at normal speed, so I'd rule out that he's trying to sound scary, but he still drops his font in favor of the standard one, right until the moment his actual judgement begins (ie when he checks your EXP and LV). while you could still make a compelling doylistic argument re: comic sans just looks stupid in this scene, i think the font switch makes perfect sense if you read it as sans just being solemn for once. his judgement will inevitably get lighter-hearted*, and he'll go back to his font and soudfont, but it really feels like he wants to open the matter setting a serious tone. this is the end now. enough messing around.
*speaking of the tone of the judgement getting lighter. know what font he uses when it doesn't?
....yeah.
The Lost Soul fight
now THIS. this is an interesting one. because not only does it happen in battle, but there are three VERY big differences when compared to the occasions i listed above:
he's not capitalizing his sentences
he's not silent when he speaks. on the contrary, he's actually using a different soundfont: the standart one you hear with the narrator and secondary NPCs.
his text moves like a wave, much in the same way as napstablook, the heavily depressed ghost who's constantly crying, and the amalgamates (all bar endogeny, who doesn't speak at all) who are... well. you can assume what emotional state they are in.**
honestly I could talk about this detail alone for HOURS, especially when you consider that as soon as his memories are returned, he immediately goes back to his usual font AND soundfont
our friends during the lost souls fight are supposed to be at their lowest, confronting their character flaws and their demons. and considering the nature of what sans says, well... i think it's fair to assume he's either straight up crying or in otherwise extreme emotional distress.
aaaaand that's it! that's all the occasions that come to mind. from what we're shown, we can gather that sans switches off his font for occasions where the mood is far from light, either because it's serious, solemm, scary, or just plain sad.
there's a couple notable occasions that fit these criteria but still use comic sans, such as the "do you wanna have a bad time", threat the "heya. you've been busy, uh?" monologue before the genocide fight, and the genocide fight itself, though all of them can be explained with the fact that the pacing of the dialogue was far too fast for it to be effective.
but yeah. the lost soul segment is the one that makes me tear my hair out. hope this answered your question!

I am trying to get back into drawing so I will be dining some diys and character studies possibly, but if you want to see a character drawn or have a request let me know, I need practice badly right now! Or if you could even tag me in some draw in your styles I’d be much appreciated!

I just had to do another sketch of him and I also realize I forgot his intro.
Papyrus or rather Quake is a soft but strong soul. He’s constantly worrying over his brothers and is always there when they need him as a sturdy protector. Though sometimes he gets burnt when he gets to close to the fire and he has paid heavily for it.
He is also apart of the royal gaurd as an official member and he has a medal that he never takes off. His one eyes is also supposed to be bigger.

Meet the lovely couple Bud and Roe. There apart of a diffrent area of the Underground in Tremortale that I’m going to call “the jungle” until I figure out an Asgore fitting name for it, maybe Tall trees? Vineyard?
Fact these two were based of a broken pen I once had and I sadly can’t find anymore and Roe is actually smaller than Bud.
Okay discription time.
Bud looks quite sharp and cold, and acts just the same, but believe me when I say he’s just the same on the inside. Though even with that he loves his wife quite dearly and will stand for nothing if she is hurt.
Roe is a sweetheart and is the very escence of bubbly and kind. Though don’t be mistaken, she is quite hotheaded and many steer clear of making her mad because of it.

Ok now that I’m starting to get more followers I decided I’ll post this for anyone intrested.
So I’m opening up questions for my tremortale characters (not that they weren’t open before) since I’m a bit to busy to work on drawing the comic. My ask box is open for anyone who wants to ask absolutely anything about any of the characters or even just the story itself and if I have some time I might even draw a picture to go with it.
Feel free to ask, anymonous asking is on too.
