jill tuck is so wonderful because she’s introduced in saw iii as a beautiful/loving/mysteriously absent wife of an antagonist and you’re like oh I get who she is. by all cinematic conventions she should be dead so her husband can seem a little bit more human. & then she shows up, physically unharmed and sort of inhuman herself. I mean she’s so rooted in the fridged wife characterization that she doesn’t really have any inner world. from her job we’re supposed to think that she’s incredibly empathetic & from her marriage with john we’re meant to think that she’s loving & from her loneliness we’re meant to think that she’s grieving. but she also has no internal world because she is still fundamentally a Fridged Woman. her empathy & love & grief seem so synonymous with What Jill Is that the writers don’t even care to truly establish them. so what we’re left with is a character who hints at such deep emotion, but is, in her actual mannerisms, cold & sort of sardonic. you don’t even need to establish what she represents in the story so the only thing that we actually know is what appears on the surface. she’s 2 dimensional and hollow at the same time. my beautiful unfridged just a second too late girl my melted jello girl. my hackneyed girl

Scott Tibbs is such a peculiar character. Imagine starting your fifteen-minute home movie like “Hey, I’m a singer, and I’m investigating the death of my photographer friend because we fell out a while ago and I want him to know I still care” and ending it with “Hello mister jigsawrs, you killed my buddy and i love u for it. My name is Scotty T and I’m auditioning for the role of Your Son! Now watch me die on tape.”

Anybody else thinking about how Adam was deemed unworthy of redemption? He tried so hard to live, literally pleaded that very sentiment, and brutally killed a man whilst injured with a bullet wound; ferver to survive driving him to animalistic violence,,, and yet he was condemned, even when exhibiting the very traits that by jigsaws logic should have saved him (by an unknowable powerful god-like figure nonetheless). This outcome reflects the very same sentiment Adam held towards himself prior to the bathroom trap, considering himself unworthy of a better life.

Conversely, Lawrence, who was always driven to display the illusion of the put together doctor with a pure content life, desperately clinging to (believing) his own facade, was saved! Even after the time ran out, even after he failed jigsaws game, he was deemed worthy of new life because of his "usefulness". And the only way that could happen was if Adam died for his sins. After he did, Lawrence was blessed by that very same god/savior figure to live (ofc in return for Lawrence's service and reverence).

For the very same reason Lawrence was deemed useful in life (being a wealthy doctor), he was deemed useful as an apprentice, thus he was afforded safety. Adam was deemed nothing in life, and so he was rendered nothing in death.

not as good as the original, but the burger has returned. i love saw X amanda, and i love her pepper spray. i didn’t think everybody would like the burger as much as you did so i gave her another, thank you guys so much for the likes and love! <3
