Preconception about Meredith and Enrais. They absolutely suck at bowling, or any other sport/activity based on precision.

Like they go minigolfing, of play with a dartboard, and make a new record on worst players ever.

Let's see if I'm right

i'll say 4/10 for Meredith, 9/10 for Enrais

Hae can't play the same sorts of precision sports humans can, given their physiology, so she would most definitely not be good at minigolf or darts - though with bowling, she could just use one of those slides for human children, and be pretty accurate. Hae-specific precision sports mostly involve hunting game, which she would be decent at if she had the stomach for it. There is also one interspecies precision sport (basically a form of polo) she does great in, though she's not really the one hitting the ball there lol.

Enrais's got sort of poor sight and therefore sort of poor perception, so he's probably not gonna win at bowling, darts, or minigolf except by chance. That's not to say he'd be any better if he could see well. Slap some glasses on him and watch him bowl five gutter balls in a row... he's a good sport, but yeah, he sucks.

ok. so. canon pronunciation reveal I guess! which is funnier when considering poll results and the comments/reblogs

Enrais is supposed to be pronounced En-rye /ɛn.'raɪ/, silent S and all. though, to be honest, since i'm a fan of phonetic spellings, i also read it as En-rise /ɛn.'raɪz/ sometimes myself - this can also be how you pronounce the possessive (Enrais's).

i enjoyed reading the pronunciations you all shared, thanks if you offered one! :) but yeah funnily enough, the current correct/canon pronunciation is the one that got the least votes lol.

What is your favourite creature design (animal, sophont, monster, whatever) you've done?

I know it's hard to choose one so pick a couple if you want.

honestly. i don't really have a favorite, i tend to be very picky about details and often find myself dissatisfied with my designs, especially if i see something i could've done better.

however as i'm working through different mythological beasts to turn into fauna for the elf planet, i've found enjoyment in working on the birds. pegasus especially has been neat to make. the design hasn't changed all that much from the first conception because the idea is pretty simple - a big, horselike bird :) and i think it's one i've communicated decently enough lol.

how come the hae mostly have one pair of eyes closed?

In the case of terrestrial Hae, the two sets - primary and secondary - are mostly used at different times and in different areas.

Nomadic groups and societies outside of the major cities will see the most use of their secondary set, the one you most often see closed in illustrations. Use is typically in the evenings and at night, as they are extremely light sensitive, to the point of being blinded in daylight. The primaries will be used in the day instead.

Cities also tend to be brighter at night. Efforts to limit light pollution have been very successful, but not entirely so. Hae living in these environments may not often feel a need to use the secondaries because of this ambient brightness - and also because of the potential to be briefly blinded by a wayward LED...

In the case of semi-aquatic Haen and fully aquatic Ivhae, secondaries are used underwater for a wider field of view. Ivhae almost never close the secondary set like their terrestrial cousins, and they think it is odd to do so, though this is because all four of their eyes have roughly the same sensitivity to light, and are adapted to oceanic conditions.
