Paddington DnD

It came to me that the Paddington's story would work as a DnD group.

Paddington- Now his class and subclass was easy, Moon Druid. He was raised in nature and has an innocent wisdom to him. Race was the hard part, isn't always. I thought of something cute and fluffy, eastern kobold, a little tabaxi, a little leonin, a fluffy goblin, a short bugbear, or a very hairy dwarf. I looked it up and stout halfling was a good choice for a moon druid and the devil's luck would fit Paddington perfectly. However we can't have the little bear be so human-like so he'd be from a clan of werebears. Finally a sailor for a background.

For the Browns am going to add a little of my world building. I don't like too many of a party to be of the same race or class, two if each at most. So I like the idea of half-elves coming together and make clans where what elf half someone has is random kinda like how in some dragonborn clans what breath weapons are random. So the Browns will be different half-elves. Minus Mrs.Bird she'll be full elf.

Mrs.Bird- Am feeling wood elf her and Tempest cleric. Tempest cause of the feeling of the rain thing and husband in the navy. Also chose cleric so she spiritual weapon can be a hoover.

Mr.Brown/Henry- Half-High Elf with the Quandrix college background to go with his job and abjuration wizard for his over protectiveness in the first movie. Also have that in the past he was an Eldritch Knight but after becoming a father he changed to wizard. He does gain some levels of fighter back from the movies.

Mrs.Brown/Mary- I feel half-moon elf for her. Now for class I am feeling Creation Bard because of her being an artist and she likes cheering people on. Now I would change the subclass feat where it's the number of per class profanity.

Judy- Inquisitive rogue and half-drow. For the class it's for her language skills and Inquisitive seems very journalistic to me. Drow for the whole feminist thing she has going on.

Jonathan-Battle Smith Artificer and half pallid elf. Now artificer was easy him crafting all those gizmos and battle Smith am imagining a little steam train that acts like a dog or snake. I just chose pallid to parallel his sister.

Knuckles- human Soulknife/Shadow monk

The villains

Mr. Curry- Crown Paladin, not a real villain but a pain

Millicent Clyde- Albino-Drow Hunter Ranger with favored enemy being whatever were-creatures are. Also I'd give her a charm or something that gives her necromancy so she can make the stuffed creatures come to unlife for a fight.

Phoenix Buchanan- starts as a changeling glamour Bard, then doppelganger, and finally a oblex to so all his characters can be a part of the fight.

Good Stuff: Belfort & Lupin

So get this. Sunday this week there's a clip on Twitter of a nice looking cartoon nobody's heard of. Some digging gets dug and it turns out to be a French series in the works... with some episodes that have leaked before release. So yeah, consider this my first review, an overview if you will, where it exists before the show even aired properly. I mean Twitter is fawning over this toon and within reason. It looks gorgeous, sounds comforting enough, and it's about talking dogs. Talking dogs who are lovers- I mean gay lov- I mean close bro homos- I mean buddies with benef- I mean they're knot buddies- FUCK

They're French, enough said. Let's get into it.

It takes place in the 17th Century at the Château de Versailles, home to King Louis XIV and his wide array of animals at what I guess is the earlier period of his reign (I'm not good with history, sorry). Belfort is a pampered royal spaniel and Lupin is an orphan wolf who are the closest of friends.... "Friends." The series essentially is about the two solving problems around the palace in regards to the other animals that live there. Belfort has his wits and authority of the royal culture while Lupin has the wild animal instincts and capabilities Belfort unfortunately lacks. It's basically Sagwa, The Chinese Siamese Cat but replace China with France which means it smells worse.

This isn't really a joke either, the king bathed less than the dogs. Versailles undoubtedly stunk to hell.

The titular characters really are the highlights. This has a good supporting cast, but the protags' chemistry is sincere, phrenetic, and kinda infectious. To each other, they're everything desired and the best they bring to the table. Belfort is the dramatic yet headstrong character that Lupin finds the most comfort in and Lupin is the rebellious light of Belfort's life. Shoot, Belfort might be my favorite of the show with how visibly enamored he is to Lupin, whether the wolf's doing what's right or is just being himself around him. Nobody online is kidding when they say these two are gay; I can't tell you how many ships these two have been compared to. Their eyes basically beam when together and on the same page, tied to the hip they might as well be.

Consider them a highlight of the year the way it's been so far

It is insane to believe that out of the blue, the internet would prop a random French cartoon before a single promotion of it was out, no less an IMDB page. "It's cuz the fans are furries and yaoi lovers." That is true, heck I expect Saberspark to tackle this, but I don't think it would've got as much the attention if it didn't look amazing and be compelling either. Belfort & Lupin I say is next to Ernest and Celestine where it's a simple cozy kids show with a really strong main duo. One that I hope can see in both French with English subs and official English where the audio isn't underwater like with the episodes I saw. It's overall a cartoon that is worth the intrigue and hype made from the spontaneous discovery, and I'm glad many are into it.

This series came out of nowhere, but I’m glad a surprise like this exists.

Agree 100% on the puppy dog eyes and the perfumes? It does make a lot more sense then "dog instincts" being trained out.

it's official, we're doing this. so, here's some random belfort headcanons my brain has decided to latch onto. not too many, i’m waiting till the show releases, but these are just some that I’ve thrown together with the limited knowledge we have at the time of posting.

-he can handle a lot of things, due to all the adventures that he gets dragged into with lupin and the rest of the animals at the palace. he's gotten his coat dirty, knocked over valuables and more. but there's one thing this cocker spaniel cannot handle, and that's blood. the slightest drop and he'll faint like a dramatic high school girl.

-belfort has a snort laugh, prove me wrong. most of the time, he masks it by only laughing subtly or purposefully trying to cover it up, blame being raised in a rich and proper environment. he doesn't want to embarass himself in front of others. but if you get him to genuinely laugh? he's got one of these laughs. he's so incredibly embarrassed by it.

-has a floral scent because of the perfumes used on him by the palace staff in order to make him presentable. it’s been mentioned by multiple sources that belfort’s sense of smell either doesn’t exist, or is at least very underdeveloped. this is because one, his natural ‘dog instincts’ have been trained out of him by his caretakers. the floral perfumes used on him may have also dulled his sense of smell even more, overwhelming his senses.

-his love language is words of affirmation. he's always calling those closest to him 'dearest', as shown here. if he likes you, belfort will be praising and lifting you up every opportunity he can.

-absolutely abuses his puppy dog eyes whenever he can. he was likely raised under the impression that being cute was a way to get what you wanted, especially as a puppy before he was trained to act more proper. but even today, he still uses it every opportunity he can get to try and rope his friends into doing things for him.

okay maybe this is only being talked about on twitter but apparently there's a new french children's show called belfort and lupin coming out and the english dub clip is constantly being shared on my feed. yeah yeah theyre gay dogs but i absolutely cannot stand the voice of belfort it's horrible 😭

well and he's just very handsome
