Introducing Váli: Our Beloved Hedgehog 🩵
Váli is our hedgehog, belonging to both my boyfriend and me. He is the tiny and adorable creature that makes us laugh and love him more each day with his little antics.
In this blog, I'll provide information about hedgehogs.
Hedgehogs are small mammals that have captured the curiosity and affection of many people. With their bodies covered in quills and their adorable faces, it’s hard not to adore them.
Hedgehogs are native to Europe, Asia, and Africa. They inhabit a variety of environments, from forests and grasslands to urban gardens. They thrive in warm climates, with a preferred temperature range between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius. If it gets too cold, it’s important to monitor them to maintain their temperature. They love to hide in dark spaces like little caves and spend most of the day sleeping.
They can eat insects such as mealworms, superworms, crickets, grasshoppers, snails, and small mammals, whether alive, canned, or dehydrated. In captivity, they are often fed specialized hedgehog food, along with fruits and vegetables, and even cat kibble, but not just any brand.
Hedgehogs are known for their self-anointing behavior, where they lick and nibble on new objects and then spread their saliva over their quills. This behavior, called "anointing," is believed to help them camouflage or neutralize toxins.
They are born blind and with soft quills that harden as they grow. The quills serve as a defense mechanism against predators. When threatened, hedgehogs curl into a tight ball, exposing only their sharp quills.
Hedgehogs have a highly developed sense of smell, which they use to find food and detect dangers.
In the wild, hedgehogs typically live 2 to 5 years, but in captivity, they can live up to 7 years or more, thanks to proper care and the absence of predators. However, they require specific care, such as a suitable diet and a safe, clean environment.
They are nocturnal creatures that prefer the quiet of the night to search for food and explore their surroundings, so be prepared for sleepless nights as you’ll hear them climbing their cage in the middle of the night. They love to explore and are always curious to sniff around.

Hello, today I want to talk to you about how important a stuffed animal can be in life. Personally, I love stuffed animals, from the lovely little pink star my dad gave me years ago to the teddy bear with the blue sweater that my boyfriend recently gave me.
Stuffed animals are not just objects, they are much more. They are like those little friends you can always hug when you need it, who are there when you have an anxiety attack, or when you're super happy, or when you can't sleep at night.
Here is a photo of my stuffed animals that I have here in León.
I could spend hours telling you the beautiful story and origin of each one of them, and among so many stuffed animals, there's always one that wears the crown. It's hard to say this because each one of them holds a big piece of my heart. Of course, it greatly depends on who gives them to you, because not all of them have to be special, you don't just give a stuffed animal to anyone.
Years ago, my favorite stuffed animal was the little pink star because my dad gave it to me when I was 8 years old. I love that stuffed animal so much because it always accompanied me in my joys and my most painful moments, like the death of my dad. I clung to it so much that I needed it to sleep. Nowadays, I have learned to let go, and now it's not necessary anymore.
Most of the stuffed animals in the photo are gifts from my boyfriend, and yes, my favorite stuffed animal currently is the teddy bear that my boyfriend gave me. If my boyfriend were a stuffed animal, without a doubt, he would be that beautiful bear. That's the bear I sleep hugging, the one I hug when I'm happy, sad, super excited, in love hehe. And yes, I know it might sound like a replacement, but it's not. Just the most important and wise person in my life told me, "Let go of what is no longer there and let me in."
