period dramas to watch if you liked My Lady Jane (or period dramas in general)

1. The Artful Dodger

Jack and Belle are basically Jane and Guildford if they were Australian and..blonde?

it's set in 1850s Australia and heavily features medicine in the plotline as Jack is a surgeon and Belle aspires to be one. Its central plotline and romance are top-tier.

2. The Great

Catherine and Peter had the same love x hate that Jane and Guildford did.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, The Great is a WONDERFUL show and more people need to be introduced to the hope and anguish. The Great is set in 18th-century Russia and follows the rise of Catherine the Great and the show is kind of a dark comedy.

3. Dickinson

like MLJ this is a rewriting of history, specifically the character of Emily Dickinson, and the main couple is so easy to root for!

Dickinson follows Emily's life and her relationship with Sue in 19th-century society. it incorporates modern language, music, and references within the universe, to explore the constraints of gender and sexuality at the time.

Dickinson was a great show and I was randomly reminded of the crazy adventure that was Emily x Sue

I was literally obsessed with Emily Dickinson and the quirkiness of this show with Snoop Dogg, the rewriting/retelling of history, the queer rep and whatnot

we were lucky to get three whole seasons of a period drama in the day and age where shows get canceled after one season (I’m looking at you Prime re: Lady Jane) (I think My Lady Jane fans will enjoy this)
