Why concrete sealing is a part of your floor maintenance routine
Polished concrete floors are very popular, they not only look fantastic, they’re extremely durable because of densification during polishing. By following some simple steps to look after them and having the guys at concrete sealing in Burleigh Heads periodically seal them for you, they’re beautiful shine will be maintained for years.
Routine floor Maintenance
All floors need to be cleaned regularly to keep them looking their best. If your polished concrete floor has been sealed it makes the daily sweeping easier and helps when removing fine particles.
Concrete is porous by nature and in areas that are likely to become wet or have things spilt on them, sealing can protect them and make wet mopping easier.
Although in many instances just clean water can be used, it’s often better and more successful to use the correct type of floor cleaner. This is because floor cleaners help to detach, lift and suspend particles from your floor, making them much easier to remove.
When your polished concrete floor is protected by sealing it as part of your floor maintenance routine, it is less likely to be damaged by the use of floor cleaners. Always chose a pH neutral cleaner for best results
To get the best results soft floor pads are recommended for cleaning to ensure there is no scratching or etching effects on your floor.
The cleaning and maintenance regime you use for your floor will depend on the amount and type of traffic it’s subject to.
You’re Check List for Floor Maintenance Routine
To maintain your floors in pristine condition taking the proactive approach by protecting them with a penetrating sealer and topical guard first makes looking after them so much easier.
·  A daily sweeping makes your floor look its best and prevents abrasion from dust
·  Having your floor sealed means spills will not penetrate the surface and are easy to mop away without leaving marks or stains
·   When wet mopping, always use a clean mop and clean water, this great for small areas. If you’re cleaning a large area, use an automatic floor scrubbing machine fitted with a nonabrasive microfiber pad
·   In high traffic areas it’s advantageous to mop more frequently using a cleaning agent designed to lift all particles without compromising the floor surface. A sealer will help keep your floor’s appearance for many years
·  Allow the cleaner you apply to the floor enough time to break down and dissolve any grease, grime or dried on dirt. It will then be easier to remove the suspended particles. If you remove the cleaner too soon it won’t have time to work properly
·  Clean small areas at a time, so the cleaner doesn’t dry before you vacuum or mop it away
·   All spills and stains need to be cleaned up as soon as possible. Havethe guys at concrete sealing companies in Burleigh Heads seal your floor regularly to keep it looking its best
All floors need to be cleaned regularly to look their best. A polished concrete floor is very easy to maintain and if you have is sealed periodically it will be more resilient to stains and spills as well as being easier to clean on a day to day basis.

Tips to hire concrete resurfacing service in Gold Coast
When you want a concrete resurfacing in Gold Coast it pays to ask around to find a good, experienced concrete professional, there are plenty of cowboys who will give a cheap quote, but for good, lasting job, it pays to look around.
These tips will help you find a good trades person to do your resurfacing job:
· Talk to a few contractors before making a decision, most of the good contractors are very busy and booked up well in advance, so you may have to wait for a while. Normally they will know all the contractors in the district and will be able to tell you about those who do a good job and those you should be weary of. Ask them if they could advise you of someone who can do a good resurfacing job for you with a realistic price and guarantee
· Check on the internet, it’s a great place to start your search. Most reputable concrete companies will be there. Lots of companies now specialize in different types of concrete applications and concrete resurfacing is one of these specialties. Often you can see videos and photos of their work as well as read reviews by their satisfied customers
·  Always check references, professional trades-people often have a number of references from clients you can talk with or even go and see. This way you can get a firsthand idea of their work. If they do not have any references, then keep looking
· Read all offered contracts and warranties carefully. It is important that a contract includes details on the job, states the type of or formula of concrete used, whether it uses river sand or crushed rock as an aggregate
·  It is important to get several quotes and compare quantities and time frames.
·  Ensure the finish you require is stipulated in the contract, some surfaces need to be slip proof, especially outdoors or in wet areas like bathrooms, kitchens and around swimming pools
· There are many new concrete applications and preparation now coming onto the market, but be sure you know what these are and have actually seen a finished example before you sign a contract
·  Some of the old school contractors have been around for many years and many have diversified into doing concrete resurfacing as opposed to new installations. This does not always make them better or worse than other contractors, but those that will not learn new and modern methods may not be providing the best service to their customers
· Always demand a fixed price for the whole job, you can pay in installments, but never pay the full amount in advance. The only exception is if you demand extra work that was not in the contract. Using a credit card for payment is often a good idea as if you end up with an unsatisfactory job you can reverse a card payment.
Now concrete work is very popular and finding a good trades person to do your concrete resurfacing on The Gold Coast can be difficult. Start looking by doing a Google search and then talk with local contractors who can advise you on some good contractors. Always ask for references and a fixed price.

Inspect the steps carefully and ensure that any cracks do not go completely through the concrete step. If they do then it is advisable to remove that step and pour a new one.

How To Fix Concrete Driveway Cracks
Concrete driveways are very hard to construct without having some cracks appear, this is quite normal especially if the foundation under them settles. Roots from nearby bushes or trees can grow under driveways lifting areas, causing them to crack and heavy vehicles also place concentrated weight on small areas creating more cracks. Driveway resurfacing companies on the Gold Coast can restore your old driveway, adding value to your property.

Once cracks appear they should be repaired as soon as possible by filling the cracks to prevent the problem getting worse. Soon dirt and dust will enter the crack and vegetation will start growing, causing damage to the concrete surrounding the crack. If not fixed the problem will quickly get worse, but it can be contained using concrete sealing methods.
Concrete Crack Fillers
It is far better to use a quality product and spend the time necessary to prepare the crack for filling rather than using cheaper filler’s such as caulking compounds as they’re unlikely to last.
Quality crack repair products that are made with a special cement mix and concrete glues are available in different sizes to suit the job from small packs to 30kg bags for large jobs.
Prepare the Crack for Best Results
The crack must be cleaned and all loose material removed, often the best way to do this is with a pressure washer. Wash out the crack and until its clean then, inspect it. Most cracks should be filled to about ¼” below the surface with clean, damp sand to provide a good base for the filler to sit on. Push it down until firm, if you leave air spaces, then the filler will not be supported and is liable to crack.
Repairing the Cracks
Temporary fix using a caulking mix
If you are using caulking filler it is usually applied with a gun. Once the area is clean squeeze the filler into the crack just a little proud or slightly about the concrete surface, then using a wet trowel, smooth it off so it’s level with the surfaces
Permanent Repairs with a Cement Bases Product
Cement based crack repair products need to be mixed with water and most of them dry or go off in 15 to 20 minutes, so it’s best to only mix small quantities at a time, about half a litre until you’re used to working the mixture. It’s also necessary to wash the tools and containers between batches so you don’t get lumps of dry cement in the mixture.
Normally the mixture should be about the same as toothpaste so you can easily press it into the cracks using a small trowel or spoon. It’s not enough to just spread it on, it needs to be well worked and forced into all areas of the cracks.
Work on about a foot of the crack at a time, pressing the mix into it, then smoothing it off with a wet trowel.
Concrete driveway cracks are very common and can be fixed by most home handymen. For the best results call in the expert driveway resurfacing companies on the Gold Coast. They can do the whole job or resurface your drive after you’re fixed the cracks to add street appeal and value to your property.
