First impression? A simple and cozy Korean BBQ restaurant with a dozen tables and a couple private rooms suitable for a quick, easy and yummy choice. A definite ‘no fuss’ type of place.

How’s the service? Seokchon staff were friendly, attentive yet not too ‘in-your-face’. I tried this restaurant first time with my sister after work one day. I’ve gone back other times with my hubby as well. I feel it had very good value for money and was easy going and private – a good setting if you want to feel relaxed and have some good food and be able to have a chilled out conversation with your friends too. I noticed, every time I went back the service has always been consistent and we were always greeted by the Korean owners and the same faces of staff.
What we got complimentary?
Small servings of fresh tasting vegetables and kim chi side dishes and a bowl of soup to go with your mains.
VERDICT – :) These made your BBQ experience more wholesome, where you are not too stuffed with just the meat and rice dishes, and the side vegetable salads were all fresh tasting. The soup is a little bland, but I like pouring it over my rice so I’m not having such a dry meal.
What we ordered?
Marinated Pork Slices
VERDICT – :) This costs 230THB, and we order 1 plate. The meat was not dry at all and had a mix of sweet and salty flavour. The meat was very tender.
Marinated Pork Spareribs
VERDICT – :) This too costs 230THB, and we order 1 plate. Again the meat was juicy with a well balanced flavour of sweet and savoury. The meat was very tender as well.
What’s the damage? 300THB per person
Overall experience? Between the two of us, with the two plates of pork we ordered and a bowl of rice each, plus the free side dishes of veges and soups, this has always been filling enough for two. After the meal, we also felt it was a satisfying meal without us over eating or even over paying. It is a regular ‘no fuss’ spot I would always consider for me and a friend, or small group of people.
How to get there?  Time Square Building, just before Sukhumvit Soi 12, Floor where the BTS sky walk leads in from Asok BTS. It is located right at the corner where you enter the building from the sky walk. Building does have parking, or you can park at Terminal 21 Mall and walk over.

Servings? 4-6 people  (9 inch diameter) Cooking Time? 60 mins
What you need?
Pie Crust
4 large eggs
1/4 cup Milk
Butter (for frying)
1 bunch asparagus
100 g Shitake mushroom (or any other mushroom)
1 head Broccoli
Cubed Feta Cheese
Ground Parmesan cheese
100 g quartered Smoked Salmon
Salt/Pepper
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
#gallery-0-4-slideshow .slideshow-slide img { max-height: 410px; /* Emulate max-height in IE 6 */ _height: expression(this.scrollHeight >= 410 ? '410px' : 'auto'); }
How to cook it?
Preheat your medium sized oven to 250 degrees, with rack in lowest position.
In a medium pot, boil chunks of broccoli and chopped asparagus in simmering hot water for 1-2 mins to soften and drain.
In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add chopped broccoli, asaparagus and mushroom.
Season with salt and pepper and stir occasionally while cooking for approx. 5 minutes and then remove from heat, setting aside to cool.
Take the pie crust out of the fridge and roll it onto the pie dish.
In another medium sized bowl, whisk egg yolks and milk seasoning with a bit of salt and pepper.
Now, add to piece dish, the cooked vegetables scattering them evenly throughout the dish.
Pour in the egg mix and add cubes of feta cheese, sprinkle Parmesan cheese, and sprinkle cubed Smoked salmon.
Cook in the oven for about 30 mins. But check regularly as you may need to drop heat down to 175 degrees.
Tips? The quiche making principle will always be the same, however you can replace the filling with any vegetables, meat, or cheese that you like. This dish is a good way to use up produce and vegetables you have left in your fridge. Another one I’ll be making tomorrow is bacon, caramelized onion, and blue cheese quiche. Just have fun with this dish!

Servings? 9-inch pie crust Cooking Time? 60 mins
What you need?
1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, and some more for rolling the dough
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
8 tbsp cold unsalted butter, cut into pieces
2 tbsp cold water (prepare 2 more, if needed)
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
#gallery-0-5-slideshow .slideshow-slide img { max-height: 410px; /* Emulate max-height in IE 6 */ _height: expression(this.scrollHeight >= 410 ? '410px' : 'auto'); }
How to cook it?
In a medium mixing bowl, add flour, salt, and sugar and stir several times to combine.
Add butter pieces and stir until mixture almost smooth, with only few pea-size pieces left.
Sprinkle the cold water and mix until dough is crumbly but holds together when squeezed with fingers (if needed, add up to 2 tablespoons more ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time).
Turn dough out onto a work surface and form dough into a 3/4-inch-thick disk.
Wrap tightly in plastic, and refrigerate until firm, at least 40 mins to an hour.
Before baking, unwrap dough and place on a large piece of floured waxed paper.
Roll dough to a 12 to 14-inch round. Using the wax paper, lift and wrap dough around the rolling pin (discarding paper).
Carefully unroll over a 9-inch pie plate. Gently fit into bottom and up sides of plate by using your thumb and fore finger to press them into the plate mould. (Don’t let there be overhang. Fold overhang under itself. Pinch between thumb and forefinger to make a uniform edge around the rim.) Refrigerate again to keep chilled, while your prepare filling. At least 10 mins to an hour.
Tips? The pie crust is easy and quick to make and can be used for both savoury and sweet pies and quiches of your liking. It will keep for between 3-5 days in the fridge. A great way to use up left over vegetables and meat in your fridge too.

Servings? 2 people  (12-14 three-inch fritters) Cooking Time? 30 mins
What you need?
2 ears corn (2 cups kernels)
2 eggs (separate yolk and whites)
1 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
4 tbsp Olive oil (for frying)
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
#gallery-0-5-slideshow .slideshow-slide img { max-height: 410px; /* Emulate max-height in IE 6 */ _height: expression(this.scrollHeight >= 410 ? '410px' : 'auto'); }
How to cook it?
In large pot of boiling water, add the corn and boil for 10 mins.
Drain out the water and run through cold water for a minute, and using a knife shave the kernels from the corn into a medium bowl.
Add egg yolks, flour, sugar, salt, and a dab of pepper and stir to combine
In another bowl, whisk egg whites until stiff, then fold into the corn mix.
In a medium pan on medium-high heat, add some oil.
Using a small ice-cream scoop, add the mix into the heated pan and spread to flatten. Add 3-4 scoops slightly spread apart within pan.
Cook for about 1-2 mins on each side, and flip when it gets golden brown.
When both sides are well cooked, scoop into an oil sieve/drain and let it sit for a minute before serving.
Tips? The fritters work really well as a light afternoon snack, but also can be had on the side of your breakfast, instead of bread. It goes well with sausages or bacon or anything else savoury as the fritters are starchy and on the sweet side. If you want some added excitement, you can even add crab meat or some shell fish to the mix.
These are great for entertaining guests. It tastes great on its own, but also is yummy when served with a sweet/sour tasting sauce e.g. sweet chilli sauce, plum sauce, or even light vinaigrette salad dressing.

Servings? 2 people   Cooking Time? 30 mins
What you need?
1/2 cup unsalted butter
2 cloves sliced garlic
1 sliced small onion
1 canned tuna in oil
1/4 cup or 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
4 tsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
2 cups penne pasta
7-8 chopped holy basil leaves
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
#gallery-0-5-slideshow .slideshow-slide img { max-height: 410px; /* Emulate max-height in IE 6 */ _height: expression(this.scrollHeight >= 410 ? '410px' : 'auto'); }
How to cook it?
Boil water with some rock salt in a large pot until simmering, and add penne to cook for about 10-12 mins.
Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, add sesame seeds on high heat and toast for 2-3 mins, stirring occasionally until golden brown then set aside in small bowl.
In the saucepan, now add butter on medium high heat.
When well heated, add garlic and onions, stirring occasionally until slightly aromatic.
Stir in drained canned tuna and add 1/4 cup of penne boiling water to the saucepan and cook for another 2-3 mins.
Drop in 2/3 of the total grated Parmesan cheese into the saucepan and 1/3 of the toasted sesame seeds, season with some salt and turn off the heat.
Drain the pasta and add a knob of butter to it before pouring into the serving bowl.
Pour the sauce into the serving bowl, drizzle some Parmesan, chopped holy basil, and toasted sesame before serving.
Tips? If you want the pasta not to get dry quickly after serving, drizzle a little Extra Virgin Olive Oil over it. Add more or less sesame or holy basil depending on your preference. This pasta dish has a fresh fusion-y taste to it and is not too heavy but is filling.
Homemade Tuna Penne Pasta in Butter Sauce topped with Toasted Sesame and Holy Basil Servings? 2 people   Cooking Time? 30 mins  What you need?  1/2 cup unsalted butter 2 cloves sliced garlic…
