Rolling her eyes, Kate propped herself up with a pillow. "No, I just woke up, actually," she retorted, sighing. Three o'clock. Great. She tucked her hair behind her ear while she pressed the small device harder unto her cheek. Tommy's arrogant breathing, if possible to do, was strangely comforting at this time of day. And, given the circumstances, she'd gladly take anything.
"What's up? Wanna come over?"
What They Don't Know | Open
Tommy walked down the streets of the city, hands shoved deep in the front pocket of his dark grey hoodie. It was still early in the day - 2:35 PM according to his watch. Today dragged so long that he was fairly certain he would die of boredom.
This would be so much easier if he had a place to stay.
Well, technically he did. He’d taken to Kate’s family’s old warehouse where she had stored their costumes in. It was so big and he came in and out so fast, nobody really ever noticed. But it wasn’t much a home - no TV, no games, no entertainment, no fun. But he had no money, so it had to do until someone caught him. With his luck, it’d be Billy or Teddy, and they’d lecture him to death.
2:45 PM. Woo, making waves there.
Even his thoughts were laced with heavy sarcasm. But his boredom temporarily took a back seat as need arose. Hunger. And his pockets were as empty as the mansion he was squatting.
And this time, like many times, there wasn’t a Kate to annoy until she caved. No Billy to guilt into or Teddy to… well, Teddy never bought him food. Cheapskate. The point was he was alone, broke, and hungry.
And then his answer came. He mused a little at what his pseudo-brother’s reaction would have been if he could see him now - the look he’d give him, seeing the speedster dash through the alleyway, cross the busy street and dip back into another. What would he say when Tommy stopped abruptly, a newly acquired hot dog and soda in his hands, leaving a very confused and lunch-less business man out in the sidewalk.
Tommy shrugged off the thoughts and began to walk and eat. It wasn’t like this gig had a big pay-out or anything and everybody else on the team was too self-absorbed or concerned with their stupid teeny-bopper romances to care.
So, sure, he stole here and there. He had to take some food and clothes to live because, hell, it’s better than going back to live with one of his parents. And the team really shouldn’t have excepted any better of him after they picked him up.
Yeah, sure, Eli was maybe right. Maybe they hadn’t saved a terrorist. But that didn’t mean they didn’t pick up a delinquent.

Too early to wake up, too late to be awake- That's what it was at two in the morning; half dead, half hungry. Kate rubbed her eyes as she turned to her side, mattress groaning, while the blue of her eyes adjusted to the still-dark room.
God, this sucks.
Then again, everything at 2:50, according to her phone, sucked. Yawning, she sat up slightly, pulling the covers of her bed with her to ward off the cold breeze. Just beside her bed was her worn out quiver- currently full- and she briefly wondered if her body was up for some shots.
No, Kate, go away, sleep.
Sighing in resignation, she stared at the shadows of her room. There were many, she supposed but, the all melted unto each other. Overlapping and contaminating one another, at some point Kate had to turn away. It was consuming, literally, the blankness of it all. Such depressing thoughts to start the day.
Maybe she should go back to sleep.
Ah, screw it. There was only one person she knew who would possibly be up at this unholy hour. And, if he wasn't, he had to deal with it. That person had silver hair and, probably, ADHD. Which, she might add, was sort of cute. She dialed his number slowly, her grin wavering as she put the phone to her ear. "Hey, Tommy?"

"Yeah but, Fury isn't exactly... Nevermind. I don't like him much."
I missed it.
You don’t? -Jeremiah cocks his side to the side looking in Kate’s direction, but not directly at her- But he’s the boss. We’re supposed to listen to the boss.

"Well.." Kate started, tutting as she shrugged, "It's complicated. I'm not very good at following orders."
I missed it.
No, you can do what you want. I’m not the boss of you, Mr. Fury is.

She stared off into the spaced machines and weapons, her eyes wide in the sheer, strange feeling of, well, alive-ness. And, with the possibility that the whole thing could explode and control the world and lethal- gah. Woah.
She was about to touch the silver, sharp edge of a bow but, thought better, head turning to face the Vali, blue eyes practically sparkling, when she saw him near the weird, high-tech system thing. "You have any idea how to work these?"
Unfamiliar Territories [Open RP] || SHIELD Initiative
Kate looked up at the male, rolling her eyes, hiding a small smile that was spreading across her face. She stood from her kneeling position and pushed the door open, gently, her eyes lighting up at the marvel of the Training Room.
If there was a time to lose words, this would be it.
SHIELD was definitely not overstating their technology because, goddamn, the place had everything. “Whoa.”

"Well... I'm a pretty good shot," she replied with a small smirk. "Uh, I play the cello. I have a date with a hyper active green dude. And, uh, I practice judo."

"Sure," Kate said, standing, brushing nonexistent lint off her thighs. "I'll see you then, Clint," she told him, reaching to shake his hand quickly and dashing away, purple sneakers squeaking at the polished floor.
Birds of a Feather? [all-we-do-is-fight]
Kate thought his response over, rubbing her arms. Well. “I know where you’re coming from. And, I sorta understand,” meaning she did, and felt sorry for Clint but, did not wholly agree. The Initiative was still as unstable as Tommy Shepherd’s ego and would probably explode in their faces- like, Tommy Shepherd’s ego. “But- Okay, I get it. I do wanna help so I’ll cut the questions. So. Training. How?”

"Well, I'm sure you'd have no trouble with that," she assured him, crossing her arms. "I could tell you about the others, though. Assuming you haven't already learned everything from their profiles. I've been here for a fair amount of time," she smiled, shrugging. It's the least I could do."

Kate laughed bashfully, a smile invading her face. "Huh, thanks. That coming from Captain America- wow. Thanks," she told him, shaking her head. God. She'd heard stories about the infamous Captain for years. Meeting him in person was... Well, damn. "I'm sure I have much to learn, Cap. Have you met the others?"

Kate shook his hand, a beam of pride running through her spine. "I- you have?" she blushed, chuckling nervously. "Well, it's not much," she said, scratching her head. "The others are way... Y'know."

"Captain America- Wow. I... It's an honor. My name is Kate Bishop... Hi." In the minute, Kate stood there with wide eyes, smiling in awe.

Kate fought the urge to step back from his gaze, tracing the lines of Tommy's face with her eyes. The sharp edge of his jaw. The arrogant curl of his lip. It would drive anyone crazy.
Unfortunately, Kate Bishop refused to be anyone. So, when they locked eyes- His were green but, not quite. The color was lost to Kate, seemingly shifting from silver to emerald- occasionally straying to something in between. Something beautiful and raw. But, not lethal. It didn't seem possible. Nothing seemed possible while she inhaled his breath, fluttering eyelashes and a missed smile. It was too good.
"Well, you have to know something about me, sir," Kate said, placing a snarky hand on her hip. "I don't back down- Especially when it includes egotistical testosterone," she coughed, feigning bashfulness. The habit of stabbing male genitalia with this particular utensil was getting worse. Twirling the used fork in her nimble fingers, she continued with a smile. "I guess you won't be getting laid. Not that you had a chance- I just hope you're not commando today."
And, goddammit, was she actually hoping?
Of Speed and Sandwiches // [Tommy & Kate]
Oh my God, he did not just go there. Kate was going to lose it with this guy’s ego. God. Honestly? Her face turned indignant, a glare forming on her face, crossing her arms. It was one thing to tease but, oh my God. Just- gah. She raised an imperious eyebrow, smirking. “I’ll give you five seconds to wise up and take that jackass comment back, Thomas Shepherd. If you like seeing your balls whole,” she retorted, unfazed. She placed her hands on her hips, stopping abruptly, smirking serenely.

"It's fine, really," Kate assured her as her eyes swept over the book. Usually, before the Initiative, Kate passed the time with her sister. The occasional book was welcomed but, in all honesty, Kate believed books were a hard thing to hit, especially when it was fiction. It was sort of disappointing to find a happy ending in a good angsty, tragedy. Especially when it wasn't that good in plot. Sorry, sis but, what's so interesting about werewolves and really really really needy girls.
"Looks interesting," Kate said, looking up at Mina, "I'll take a look sometime. You know. To pass the day. It gets real boring here. 'Specially when there's no training. Just... waiting around. Have you met the other students?"
Observational Skills || Kate|Mina
Kate raised her eyebrows, shrugging Mina off. “It’s fine. If not, it’s my fault. I’m the family pessimst, apparently,” she smiled, rubbing the bare soles of her feet. “So… To lighten the mood- God, I’m bad at this normal teenage stuff,” Kate sighed, huffing a strand of hair off her face. “Uh… What are you reading?” Kate asked, giving up on finding other topics that were mildly interesting. “Is it nice?”

Kate was about to agree (with a handshake and enthusiasm intended) but, her words feel short as she rubbed her wrists quietly. "Um- I would but, uh... I sorta got plans. Which," she added, defensively, "I would ditch but, my dad would kill me. So, yeah. Three?"
