In case this helps anyone feel better, the critics rating of the Lego Ninjago Movie may be low, but look at the general audience ratings! 4/5 stars with almost 15,000 votes, and 75% of people gave it a high rating (of at least 3.5/5 or 7/10 stars) It's currently pretty similar to the Lego Batman Movie's ratings! So even if the movie didn't impress critics, it was still good enough to appeal to most other people!

The purposes of The Lego Ninjago Movie
I think the Ninjago Movie has three main intentions: - To entertain already-existing Ninjago fans with a new perspective that thoroughly explores Lloyd and Garmadon's relationship - To attract new fans by introducing them to the tone and characters of the TV series, and capturing their attention enough to leave them wanting more so that they will check out the show. - To convey deep familial messages including forgiveness, not taking family for granted, the importance of being there for family, and doing what's best for those you love. I think the creators of the movie really cared and wanted to get these messages out to viewers.
And in all three goals it succeeds, in my opinion. Even if critics don't think it's as clever or as well-written as the previous Lego Movies, I loved it even more than the other two and it accomplished what it was aiming for. I am a huge Ninjago fan and although a 1 hour 40 minute film couldn't top everything I've experienced with the show, it's still a great movie with a whole lot of heart and talent poured into it, that provides plenty of raw emotion, silly humor, and dazzling action along the way.

What NOT to expect from the Lego Ninjago Movie
Having seen the movie, here are a few things some people might be expecting that don’t actually happen so they don’t feel let down afterwards. There’s no major plot spoilers here, I guess they kinda are smaller spoilers though...
There's only a couple very subtle hints at Jay's crush on Nya.
Ed and Edna don't appear in the movie even though they appeared in one of the sets.
There's no 'Dance of Doom' scene; Garmadon mentions it but it's mostly just an ending credits song.
The scene from the trailer of the bride abandoning her groom doesn't happen.
Furthermore, the trailer scene where Lloyd asks his mom about if his dad was always an evil warlord doesn't happen.
There's no extra high school scenes aside from what we saw in the trailers and clips.
The N-Pop Girl appears in the background a few times but doesn’t really have any significance.
Because the movie focuses on Lloyd and Garmadon’s relationship, there’s not much interaction or development among the other ninjas.
The Weekend Whip only appears for a few seconds as Lloyd’s ringtone.
EDIT: Forgot to add, although they do mention Spinjitzu they don’t actually do it.
But don’t let all this put you off, the movie is still amazing and much more emotional than I could have imagined!

Honest Spoiler-free Ninjago Movie Review from a Big Fan
a.k.a myself :P
Also I TRIED to keep this as spoiler free as possible, as in no major plot details, but I still vaguely describe scenes of the movie so keep that in mind before reading!
The first thing I want to mention is that yes, there are live action scenes at the beginning and end BUT they do not interfere with the story. My problem with the Lego Movie is that everything ends up being controlled by the humans and that kinda distresses me out and lose connection to the characters feeling real ;; Lego Ninjago Movie did not have this problem, so that's a big plus for me! The next thing is that, like many movies, some scenes from the trailers weren't in the movie at all and a lot of others were altered. But that's fine.
Ok, onto the main points of the review! This movie mainly excels in fight cinematography, the soundtrack, and the emotion. Expect a good amount of fast-paced action, but also some of the most tender, tear-jerking emotion ever. This movie has more feels than the Lego Movie and Lego Batman Movie in my opinion, even though it’s less concerned with humor (it’s still super funny but places action and emotion as priorities). The family and relationship related feels are mega powerful, somehow provoking more emotion than the tragic-toned sad parts of the previous two lego movies. There aren't really many high school scenes (in fact, I think we already saw all of them in the clips and trailers) but we do go through a few cool and unique settings! Another thing to point out is that this is a Lloyd-centric story, focusing on the relationship between Lloyd and his dad. The other ninjas don't get much development, but the movie still does its job of making the characters appealing enough to draw attention to the main Ninjago franchise. So, even though none of the ninjas besides Lloyd get a chance to shine in the movie, I think that was intentional so people can check out the series to learn more about the other characters. From this movie you can tell that Lloyd really cares about his team. I won't go too much into detail because this is intended to be a spoiler free review but there is more than one scene where Lloyd sees his teammates in danger and you can see the DEVASTATION in his eyes. I know I already said this but this movie does even better at tugging at your heartstrings than the other Lego movies in my opinion. There are feel-good scenes of the team working together and Lloyd encouraging them, which I think would really delight Ninjago fans. Most of the interactions in this movie are between Lloyd and Garmadon, and though they’re super touching and important to the film, I think the blooper reel and Behind the Bricks have more satisfying interactions among the team itself. The movie has great themes of forgiveness and appreciation for people in your life. I think it does its job of pleasing already-existing Ninjago fans, intriguing newcomers, and conveying it's family-built messages. The movie really makes you feel. It really makes you care about the characters. It has its share humor, action, adventure, and emotion. So to sum it up, if you like awesome action and family feels, this is the movie for you! As a Ninjago fan I can honestly say I absolutely LOVED it, ranking above the Lego Batman Movie now. I think I can see why a non-Ninjago fan would prefer the Lego Batman Movie due to it being more hilarious and having a more detailed plot, but Ninjago fans? You're in for a real treat that will surely leave you feeling good in the end... especially if you like Lloyd! It has similar tones to the show I think; being about action, featuring a lot of feels, but still having the humor of a comedy.

It’s Garmadon Lyrics

Lyrics below break
What's my name? (Garmadon) Say it again! (Garmadon) Holler out my name, nerds (Garmadon) Ha ha ha ha (Garmadon) Dominate! (Garmadon) (Garmadon) Ha ha ha ha ha (Garmadon) Yeah (Oh yeah) When darkness falls across your town And the big bad monsters come around When skeletons rise up from the ground It's Garmadon (Oh yeah!) You feel the fear creep in your bones (Ooh!) You feel the earth shaking your toes? (Ooh, yeah) You pee your pants and you run back home It's Garmadon! Tell 'em my name, nerds! (Garmadon) The Underworld King (He's Garmadon) I eat lightning! (Oh, Garmadon) Listen to my Skulkins sing (Garmadon, oh yeah!) (Garmadon) Ha ha ha ha! (Oh he's so strong) How strong? (So strong we wrote a song) Fear my name (He's Garmadon, oh yeah!) Can't you see that no one is greater than me? I kill anybody who disagrees (Got bit by a snake and awesome is what he became) And having just two arms was lame So I grew two more and I changed the game Now I got four ways to punch you in the face! It's Garmadon (Garmadon) I sleep on blades! (He's Garmadon) I use fire to shave! (Oh, Garmadon) I'm on an evil crusade! (He's Garmadon) Oh yeah! (Garmadon) Spinjitzu's the prize (Oh, Garmadon) Look into my red eyes (He's Garmadon) You know my name is Garmadon! (Oh yeah!) (Oh yeah!)

Dance of Doom lyrics
Link to song
Lyrics below break
Dance Doom Dance of Doom Dance Dance of Doom Dance of Doom Here we go Put out your arms and shake your head Roll back your eyes just like you're dead One hand hip, other hand hip Take two steps and triple front-flip Take off your legs but keep your pants on Then take off your head and throw it at your mom Now that you're lighter, do a push-up Then out of your neck hole, quack like a duck Lie on the ground and just stay put And wait 'till a human steps on you and hurts their foot Here comes the chorus then I'll show you soon How to do the rest of the dance of doom Dance Doom Dance of Doom Dance Dance of Doom Now bend your arm then bend it back You're doing it wrong if you don't hear a crack Right side down, left side down Just a little lower, now you're underground Remove some ribs so you can kick your own face Roll down some stairs, then take a lunch break Punch punch kick, punch punch kick Spin 45s and land in the splits Now it's time for a corn dog sword fight You're doing it wrong if that feels all right Replace your scalp with snakes Or really any piece that lego makes Juggle with some boulders While you crowd surf on skeleton soldiers Now clap your hands Then squeeze your pituitary gland To grow a little bigger pretty quickly And destroy the dance floor literally Dance Doom Dance of Doom Dance Dance of Doom Plastic ninjas in your room, they're all doing the dance of doom Plastic ninjas in your room, they're all doing the dance of doom Plastic ninjas in your room, they're all doing the dance of doom Plastic ninjas in your room, they're all doing the dance of doom Dance of doom Dance of doom Doom Do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do Dance Doom Dance of Doom Dance Dance of Doom Dance of Doom

To those who have listened to the Lego Ninjago Movie soundtrack, what are your favorite tracks? My favorite song is Heroes because it's super fun and I really love the sound to it! I think it perfectly gives off Ninjago vibes. My favorite BGM is "The Lady Iron Dragon" because it's so emotional and makes me cry every time.

Forgive me if this has already been posted but for those who don’t know, during the Conan interview it was revealed his role in The Lego Ninjago Movie caused Dave Franco to cry! Except some mega feels in the movie then!

Please don't be mean to the LEGO company about the second Ninjago movie trailer not releasing yet! It's normal to be excited! It's ok to be impatient! But it's no good to be angry and bitter. I see people on Twitter getting seriously ANGRY at the official LEGO account, spamming them and swearing at them! Not only will this not make the trailer come any faster, it's making Ninjago fans look bad and undeserving of this amazing movie. I don't think it's up to the LEGO company to decide when it gets released anyway! Isn't that up to Warner Bros or something? Yesterday LEGO said the trailer was coming 'tomorrow' and the day isn't over yet! Plus there are real people behind the LEGO account who might be getting needlessly stressed by this harassment.
Stay cool and stay kind!
