â DONâT YOU DARE! DONâT YOU FUCKING DARE! â (maybe for the rooftop thing ;) im terrible)
âWhy not? Whatâs the point?â Alice yelled back. She was standing on the edge of a store rooftop, ready to step forward. Life wasnât worth living now that Jervis was after her again. How long would it be before she was back under his control? It was a matter of hours, maybe. He could work fast, he could make anyone in this huge city do whatever he wanted. There was no use in trying to get away again, she didnât have the money. Heâd travel to the ends of the earth to find her anyway. It was pure luck that he didnât come after her when she left for Paris. He was distracted with something else.Â
She looked down at the woman, took in the worried look on her face. It was nice that she cared, Alice appreciated that. Not many people would give a damn if she lived or died. Her heart was aching in her chest, and it was all she could feel. Just the horrible, heavy, consuming ache. Things would never get better, sheâd never be safe. It didnât matter what promises anyone made. Nobody could stop her brother, not when she was so disturbingly important to him. If only their parents had lived â if only theyâd been there to guide Jervis. But they were gone, and soon, Alice would be too.
âIâm sorry. I just canât live in a world where he exists. Iâve done it for twenty-six years, and Iâm so tired. I want it all to stop.â

@alitetch continued from hereÂ
It had been a while since heâd seen Alice, of course, he didnât mind that the women took to calling him Chess, even now that sheâd gotten her memories back he wouldnât mind the little nickname that came from her. âAlways a pleasure Alice,â He replied hugging her back gently before chuckling softly âReally now? Yet youâve seen my eyes and the only question you ask is what my real name is? You are quite the girl Alice, my true name is Gadreel, though I hardly mind if you keep calling me Chessâ
Alice smiled when she felt his arms wrap around her too. It was hard to trust people, knowing that Jervis could hypnotise them to follow his command. But Chess had been there when she was living a fantasy, and he had never taken advantage of her fragile state. She looked into his eyes, giving him a gentle smile. One that conveyed that they didnât bother her in the slightest. âI think your eyes are beautiful. Iâve never seen anything like them, and being unique is important. Iâve seen stranger things, too. Iâve lived stranger things, actually. Weâve all got our own thing, havenât we? Yours just happens to be really cool eyes.â Gadreel. It sounded so... regal. âI love your name, but I think Iâm attached to Chess now.âÂ

âI donât have time to play tour guide.â || @poison-thornsâ
âI mean, okay... But I wasnât going to ask for a tour,â Alice replied, feeling a little deterred by the womanâs attitude. Coming to the Botanical Gardens was supposed to be relaxing -- some kind of escape after everything that had happened with Jervis. Sheâd never understood how people could be so prickly towards others. Kindness was important, even if the world had been cruel to you. âI was just wondering if itâs as relaxing working here as it seems. Being surrounded by so many beautiful things... Doesnât it feel like a paradise?â She paused for a moment, then shrugged. âYou donât have to answer that. Iâm sorry.âÂ

â question , youâre not dating anyone , are you? â
âUm, no. Iâve never had a partner,â Alice replied, feeling a little awkward. Jervis had never allowed her to date anyone, and if she did get close to someone, he hurt them. He said that he was the only person she needed and that anybody else was dangerous. She had to beware of the Jabberwocky and the frumious Bandersnatch. âAs you know, my brother is quite possessive of me. I was his one and only, and he wanted the same in return. I was never stable enough to be with someone anyway,â she told Daisy. âI had crushes, but they ended badly. Jervis always knew, even if I hid them from him. I guess Iâve never grown out of feeling like Iâm his, even when Iâm not,â Alice admitted. âItâs like heâs branded me, and maybe itâll always be like that.â She looked down at her hands, not wanting to meet Daisyâs gaze. She knew that she was messed up, and weird. Looking at the other womanâs expression might confirm that and make her feel worse about herself. âWhy do you ask? Are you seeing someone?â

đ for hand kissÂ
Chess kissed the back of her hand, and Alice couldnât help but give him a beaming smile. She could remember how kind he had been to her when she lost her memories. Heâd let her believe that he was a character from Wonderland, and she appreciated that. Chess hadnât been hard on her or told her that she was crazy. He simply accepted her for what she was â lost and vulnerable. âItâs nice to see you too, Chessie,â she said, withdrawing her hand and going in for a quick hug. âJust so you know, I have my memories back now. I know youâre not the Cheshire Cat, so if you donât mind me asking⌠Whatâs your real name?âÂ

âYou need to calm down.â
Cal sighed at the words. âI know, I know.â He said, so softly it was almost under his breath. âIâve always been competitive, I have to work on that.â The man focused on the pins in front of him. He had never gone bowling before, but Cal had always found that he was able to learn very quickly. But bowling. Bowling was kicking his ass. He had just thrown two gutterballs and his pins still stood untouched. He had one more ball. âHow are you so good at this?â He asked Alice, turning to half-glare at her.Â
Alice chuckled, standing behind Cal. âCompetitiveness is good, but you donât need to be like that with me. We can still say you won, even if you donât.â Winning or losing didnât matter to her, she was just happy to spend time with a friend. âOh, well, um,â she said, wringing her hands as she looked him. âJervis used to take me sometimes after our parents died. He did it to cheer me up, I guess.â There had been times that were bearable with him, but they had been so long ago. âAnd itâs all about positioning,â she told Cal. âYou should use the bumpers while youâre learning, they stop the ball going into the gutter. Everyone needs to start somewhere,â she said softly, with a smile.

@daisyljohnsonââ:
Daisy hadnât really known Alice long, but after being in the control of her brother, she felt like she somehow knew her a little better before even meeting her, not because Jervis described her well or anything but because she could understand more of the trauma that came from just knowing him and the fear from thinking he might get a hold of her again. âIâm used to not being safe,â Daisy said quietly almost in defeat. It wasnât herself that she was worried about anyways.
Something instinctively protective in Daisy took over when she saw Alice growing more and more panicked. She took a gentle hold of one of Aliceâs hands, not too tight, so she wouldnât feel like she was somehow trapped. âI will do everything in my power to make sure that doesnât happen.â She assured her. She moved her hands up to Aliceâs face, making sure she could look into her eyes to see just how serious Daisy was. âI have been through things like this far too many times to let it happen to you again. I know you donât really know me, but I get all of the stuff that generally comes with these kinds of things. I donât think I could take it if I knew he got a hold of you again.â Daisy pulled Alice close, wrapping her in a tight hug. She gently brushed the hair out of Aliceâs face and placed a kiss on her head. âI promise Iâll do everything to protect you.â
The woman said she was used to not being safe, and Alice found that such a curious thing to say. Maybe sheâd been running from danger for her whole life, too. But she doubted that. Aliceâs situation was rare -- so rare that she felt like there was nobody else in the world who could understand. How many other people had a hypnotist for a brother, and the Tetch virus running through their veins? Nobody, that was who. It was such a lonely life sheâd been living for the past twenty-six years.
Alice wanted to snatch her hand away from the other at first, but when she saw how gentle she was being, she decided not to. There was a softness to her -- one that she didnât see in most people. Feeling hands on her face, she leaned into the touch, unaware of just how much she needed it. Why did this stranger care so much? It was unusual, but it made Alice feel... noticed. Finally, someone was seeing her, and the horrible things sheâd been through. They were trying to understand and reassure her. It made her heartbeat slow down a little, and she felt like she could breathe steadily again, focusing on the feel of warm hands against her cheeks, and the sound of the womanâs voice. As arms wrapped around her, Alice felt tears streaming down her face. When was the last time somebody had held her and reassured her that theyâd protect her? âYou donât have to do this,â she sobbed out, her bottom lip quivering as she felt the kiss. âHeâll kill you if he canât get to me. I know my brother.â Her fingers gripped the back of the otherâs jacket, keeping her close for a few seconds longer. âI should be the one who dies so that all of this can end. The cycle will be broken. I know what to do now. Thank you.â

ofhattersâ:
For a while he didnât want her to wake, Jervis was content just watching her sleep. Knowing that she was there in front of him. Safe, happy, content. He could hardly see her in the dim lighting of the moon which creeped through the cracks of her blinds, and slowly that content feeling faded away into nothing. It wasnât enough just to watch her dream, he wanted to know all the details of what she was dreaming about. He wanted to know where her lovely mind took her. Maybe she was roaming the deep, dark wood of Wonderland? Looking for him, he imagined? He reached down to her and gave her a little shake before immediately withdrawing his hand. His heart nearly stopped in his chest when she moved. Suddenly awake. When she clicked on the light, a shiver ran down his back and he regretted the choice to wake her.Â
âAlice.â He breathed. He could see her in the light now, and suddenly he wondered how he could have ever believed anyone else could be her. She was so wonderful, so perfect. The only thing he had left from his past. His tie to both reality and fantasy. âDid you really have no faith that I would find you? Iâll always find you.â He said in a soft, soothing voice. Unknowing how horrible it sounded from his own lips. He carefully sat down on the bed next to her and watched as she tried to huddle as far from him as she could. She, of course, wanted him gone. Every protest from her was like a stab in the chest. He let out a sigh. âI canât be bothered to care if the door is right there. My Alice. Iâve only just got here, how is it fair? To leave you so early. So lonely, so without me?â He frowned. âIâve missed you. Surely youâve missed me too.âÂ
Alice felt a shiver run down her spine. He would always find her. The way he said it sounded like he was trying to romanticise it. He wanted it to be something beautiful -- something that would mean they had a happy relationship. That would never happen, though. Even if he did find her every time she escaped, she would never be able to appreciate it or want it. âI knew you would, but I wanted to believe you wouldnât.â Her throat felt like it was closing up, and she had broken out in a cold sweat. She felt like a terrified little girl again, wondering if her brother was going to use his pocket watch on her, or if he was going to be nice that day and leave her alone.Â
He sat down next to her, and she let out a strangled whine. She hadnât meant to, but her body didnât know how to cope with the stress of being near him again, and neither did her mind. âI wasnât lonely,â she told him, lying through her teeth. She craved human affection and attention, but it was just that she didnât want it from him. Anyone but him. âJervis, you know what you did.â Her eyes were squeezed shut, and she didnât dare to look at him. âYou took me, and I died. And you didnât tell me the truth when I came back.â Her hand reached cold steel beneath the pillow, and she wrapped her fingers around it, ready to fire at him if he made one wrong move.

Send đ for a cheek kiss (Jim)
Alice kept her arms wrapped around Jim, allowing him to make her feel safe. After Jervisâs visit the other night, she was constantly scared. The horrible feeling in the pit of her stomach never eased up, and her heart was nearly always pounding. She couldnât focus on anything else â all that mattered was getting away from her brother. âThank you for always trying to protect me,â she mumbled against Jimâs shoulder, her arms squeezing him tighter. He was the only man from Gotham who she could trust. Heâd helped her escape once, and heâd probably help her again. It was what a man like him did. He was a white knight. There was a hint of a smile on her face as loosened her grip on him. âIf my dad wouldâve lived⌠I think Iâd like him to be like you.â While he thought on those words, she turned her head, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
