Rebecca Joy Hughes, ALG project manager and artist.

I work in photography, film, drawing and music. My main subject is light, I am attempting to utilise it as a material. Each time I develop an idea for a light installation I try to push the end result further, ideally getting more ambitious. Right now they are intangible smoke sculptures subject to their environment and intervention of the participants.
I source ideas from music, film, literature and walking around the city - particularly the views at night from the rooftops. If I could organise my messy mind, I’d love to take a venue and create something between cinema and light landscape, compiling my ideas and creating an immersive narrative.

I watch everything around me like a succession of frames. Suddenly when I get up, take my breakfast, or just walk, I have on my mind what I want to create. It can be a drawing, a painting or a story. When I get there, I feel better.

I’m an illustrator from the Netherlands who, after graduating in 2014, decided to travel the world. What followed was an artistic journey that led me through 7 different countries, while I tried to put all of my experiences and impressions on paper (or walls). I am very passionate about art and like to learn as much as possible about every asset of it. In my work I always like to experiment with different techniques and materials. My work is always very detailed and ranges from architectural drawings to tattoo inspired designs. It’s mostly in black and white but i do love to use watercolours once in a while.

My work is currently centred around Mexico. I want to touch on some of the themes I felt most while I lived there over a six month period. Mexico is a very layered country, where, for instance, you can really feel the gap between the rich and the poor, while at the same time you have tropical paradises and beautiful landscapes.
