1. You are responsible for your own media experience. 

2. There is such a thing as a healthy level of avoidance towards topics that make you feel unwell or even (in a real-life clinical definition of the term) trigger you - but you are the one to actively take care of what you view.

3. Avoiding does not mean policing others.

4. You have no right to tell artists to censor themselves - you may criticize what others do, you may dislike it, that’s fine - but actively asking for censorship when you could easily unfollow or block a person just makes you look incompetent in your use of the internet.

5. Do not give people on tumblr or /any/ website the responsibility for your emotional well-being. Because these people do not even know you so no, you have no right to ask them to take care of you.

Hot take: 99% of the time when someone scoffs, "your dog trained you!" they are referring to communication. My dog communicated with me. I heard him. It was a reasonable request and I accepted it, or it was an unreasonable request so I offered an alternative.

Training is communication. Communication should go both ways.

The year is 2020 and Supernatural has just had its series finale. I've logged on to Tumblr for the first time in years to take one last look down memory lane- my supernatural tag. This is the place I first heard of the show... over 10 years ago. Its after 3am and my thoughts aren't entirely coherent.

This show, man. I laughed, I cried, I rewatched it over and over again with every family member and friend I introduced it to. I fell in love with the boys, with the story, with their each new friend they made along the way. I met many fantastic people through this fandom both online and at conventions.

Sometimes it made me mad, sometimes I didn't like a story arc, my own grandmother has spoiled episodes for me 😅 I've read fanfiction, I've drawn fan art, I've cosplayed, my older brother has the anti possession tattoo on his chest.

I started the show when I was at a very low point in my mental health and it really gave me a spark of joy. It really is one of the first shows that I ever entered a "fandom" with, and that gave me a sense of community I really needed at the time. I'll forever be grateful for the journey this show took me on.
