Selfishly, she wanted to know nothing of the Clave trial. Holly had no knowledge, no involvement of them and besides the theatrics she managed to carry on the previous year, she’d never as much as come face to face with them.  She didn’t keep up with what was going on, she had no idea who was testifying, nothing, completely out of the loop and she preferred it that way. She’d managed to keep herself busy in her studio. Her studio. The thought of it still blew her away, though she didn’t dare change the name. Miss Holly’s didn’t have the ring that Miss Anne’s did and so she carried that on. She’d only just finished a class of ten to twelve year olds when a familiar face stopped by, she was surprised to see Alex, but more surprised to see her without her little one, who Holly had been endeared too also. “Oh?” Her question was framed strangely and even if she hadn’t had a minute to chat, she would have said yes to hear what Alex had to say. “Sure, I suppose. What kind of questions?”

Alex felt so uncomfortable, she wasn’t even sure how to begin. I mean she was going to sound like a crazy person and what if she was on a crazy goose chase that Morgan was sending her on just to torment her. “God this is going to sound insane,” Alex said with a heavy sigh. “What do you know about your dad? I mean do you know who he is?” Alex finally said and she realized that she did, in fact, sound completely crazy. “I’m sorry, I know this is... god I don’t even know what to call it.”

“How are you?” Amber asked, slipping into the chair across from Alex at the coffee shop. She had met the other months earlier when she first moved to Hollow Grove but it was rather rare for the two of them to get together to actually speak. With the trials of Clave members having just passed, the human figured that now would be a good time for them to meet up and talk, knowing Alex’s history in that arena. More than that, thinking about someone else’s life would give her the chance to avoid thinking about what was going on in her own. She brought her own mug of coffee to her lips and took a quick sip. “Handling things okay?”

Alex smiled when she saw Amber. “I’m....” Alex hated lying, she’d spent so much of her life on the run not letting people into this part of her life and now it was all out there and the darker parts seemed so close to being put to bed that she was having a hard time processing it all. “I’ve been better.” She finally confessed. “This whole thing just feels like an out of body experience, I’ll be happy when it's over. Although, I got come confusing news out of the whole thing. I’m not even sure how to process it.” Alex said running her fingers through her hair. “Gosh listen to me rambling on, how you doing?”

Alex had done it, she’d gone and she’d testified against Morgan. She’d told them everything that she knew about her father, every terrible thing he’d put her through. About all the things she’d come to learn about her father once she’d left that world behind. He’d asked to see her afterwards and she had hesitated but gone anyways. It was time that she faced him. What he told her next though rocked her whole world. One of her sisters was living right here in Hollow Grove and it was someone Alex knew. Holly Chevalier. She’d fled, trying to process what this all meant but eventually she found herself at the dance studio. Leaning against the door way as a class finished she waited until the students had started to clear out before she entered the space. “Hey Holly,” Alex said hesitantly. “Do you have a minute to chat, I just... I’ve stumbled across somethings and I had some questions for you.” How the hell was she supposed to have this conversation. Alex had no idea, honestly.

She offered Alex a small smile as the blonde began to speak back to her, when she’d heard the news her thoughts had drifted to Alex and what happened at Blood Moon. Madge hadn’t been the only victim, the only person who’d suffered on the night of the Blood Moon. She knew it had to be playing on the other woman’s mind and she was unable to figure a way to find out how the other was coping. “You’ve had other things on your mind,” she supplied with a gentle smile, she found it all too easy to procrastinate, focusing on the smallest of things that would distract her. “That’s true, I really don’t want to have to go too far for it if I can’t get it in town.’

“Yeah there seems to be a lot of that lately, I guess its important to not stop living though right? Halloween is a fun time of year, no reason to not get into the spirit and then before we know it Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here. I feel like the last three months of the year fly by.” She said with a small sigh as she thought about her time in Hollow Grove. “Exactly so the sooner the better, then you get the first pick and you don’t have to worry about fighting some soccer mom for it.”

With news of the trial spreading like wildfire through town, Luna knew there was at least one person she had to see before it all went down. She couldn’t even imagine what Alex must be going through, having heard about the connection between her and one of the men captured. She didn’t know many more details than that, but it was enough to send her over with a basket of desserts for comfort, having sent a text earlier to let her know she was coming. It seemed like one of those times she was gonna need all the people in her corner that she could get. “Alex? It’s me. I think I got everything you asked for, and then some. I wanted to make sure we didn’t run out.” @alex-cunningham

It was weird knowing that Morgan was so close, yet not a threat to her. It terrified her that this all might be part of his plan and then suddenly she wouldn’t be safe anymore. Worse than that though, that Briar wouldn’t be safe. Luna’s text had brought a small ounce of relief. Answering the door she smiled to see the other woman. “You are an absolute angel Luna Shaw, has anyone ever told you that?” Alex said with a wide grin. “Come on in, Briar’s sleeping but she should be up in a bit, I’m sure she’ll be excited to see you.” She stepped aside and let Luna in. “So what did you all bring?”

The news had swept through town like wildfire and when Alex had heard she experienced an odd rush of conflicting emotions that only one person in her life would really understand. It was still pretty early and Brair slept soundly in her room as she saw at the kitchen table sipping her coffee and staring down at the news paper in front of her, the headline glaring back at her, she was only shaken from her thoughts when Adam came trudging into the kitchen and she looked up at him a little caught off guard but managed a smile. “Hey, good morning.” She said quietly taking another sip of her coffee. “They’re uh... finally moving ahead with a trial.” Alex said quietly looking back down at the paper again. She knew this meant that both she and Adam would have to relive some of the far darker years of their lives if they chose to testify.

Emma was trying to distract herself from the news that the Clave members that had been caught would be going to trial, the new having stuck in her mind over and over as she processed the news. Seeing justice served was everything, but there were still people out there, it was still something that they knew would hardly be over. Instead of dwelling on it, she found herself scrolling through Pinterest. “Is September too early to decide on Halloween costumes?”

Alex’s mind continued to wander, these trials meant that Morgan may get the justice that was coming to him after all, that she might be safe now, that she and Briar could finally live in peace. But Alex had been on the run long enough to know not to get her hopes up. Hearing Emma she was shaken from her thoughts though and it was a welcome distraction. “I don’t think so, I mean now that you mention it. I am a little embarrassed I haven’t started to think about it yet, but the sooner you know the better chance you have of getting the costume you want.”

Trying to get used to being a vampire was difficult, but Kinsley was never happier that she’d learned all the shortcuts between crowded streets. While keeping herself alone in her room made sure she didn’t hurt anyone, it was too familiar to how she’d been kept the past three months. Needless to say, she wanted to avoid that feeling as much as possible, so she strolled through the back streets of the town, her ears tuned in to every little sound so no person could ever sneak up on her again. As she turned the corner between buildings, she picked up on the sound of footsteps coming toward her and looked up, ready to run or fight if she had to. She curled her hands into fists and tensed, but then she saw them. “God,” Kinsley said, with a sigh of relief. “Sorry. You scared me, is all.”

Alex slipped down an alleyway as she pushed Brair’s stroller, feeling a bit crowded today in the streets of Hollow Grove, the last thing she expected was to stumble upon someone else and the other woman���s reaction caught her off guard. “I am so sorry I didn’t mean to scare you,” She held up her hand stepping up next Brair’s stroller unsure if she’d need to grab the little girl quick and run for it. “Are you okay?”

Helena looks up from her book as the door opens, ringing the little bell above it. “Hi, welcome to Wicked Good Books. Can I help you find anything?” she says automatically. It had been a quiet morning, and she’d done the paperwork she needed to do. Really, anyone coming in right now, even if they didn’t want to buy something, was a welcome change of pace.

“Okay you have to promise not to laugh,” Alex said with a hesitant smile, looking slightly embarrassed.  “You guys wouldn’t by chance for the parenting book. How to Not f them up by Oliver James would you? I’ve got a headstrong toddler and terrible parental figures so I’m in need of a little guidance.”

“So I opened my front door to go to work today and I found these,” Lachlan started, indicating to the bouquet of flowers in his hands.  “No note, no name.  I have no idea what they are for.  Or if they are for me.  I’m not really sure what to do.” 

Alex looked up at the man who was speaking and she looked down at the flowers. “You just found them?” She asked in surprise. “I mean if they were left at your front door they had to be for you right? I mean unless someone else lives with you, deductive reasoning would indicate that they were left for you. Maybe you have a secret admirer.”

“You’re so cute. I can almost hear the wheels in your brain whirring, trying to figure out what’s going on with me.” he scoffed. “If you must know, I turned it off. And honestly, I have no idea why I didn’t do this before. I feel.. great. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this free before.”

Hearing his explanation caused her heart to drop into her stomach. “Why did you do that?” Alex asked trying to keep an even head about her, knowing right now that freaking out would not help the situation so starting from the beginning was the best place to start.

“You’d be surprised how many idiots treat it like one,” Kassia laughed, shaking her head, brunette waves bouncing around her shoulders. She could remember the day her younger brother had introduced her to Instagram - she’d never been the most tech savvy, or up to date on trends, especially when it came to apps. Since that day, Kassia had been treated to more than a few unwanted DMs from idiot strangers that wanted to get her into bed. Not that she was all that mad at the attention, though. But the witch much preferred meeting her potential lays in person. “Oh, I’d love nothing more than to knock that dickhead flat on his ass,” she said with a smirk, violet eyes narrowing in judgement as she watched the guy muscle man pose in front of the mirror. “But I have a feeling that if I let him have it, he’ll call me a cheater and find a way to get me banned from the gym for violation of conduct or some bullshit like that. He doesn’t strike me as the kind of guy that would be a gracious loser, least of all to a woman.”

“I mean you’re not completely wrong there,” Alex nodded her head, she wasn’t super into social media but she made a small effort to stay up on the happening of the world, even in her late 60s it only seemed right. “Tinder messages or Instagram DM can you really tell the difference?” I mean truth was she didn’t know that much about the dating app culture but she’d heard plenty of stories. Alex crinkled her nose as she watched the man for a moment. “I don’t doubt that for a second. He totally seems like the type that’s ego couldn’t handle something like that. Probably best to avoid that even if it would be really amusing to watch.  I’m Alex by the way.” She said introducing herself. “Sadly I don’t have that dudes ego but I can keep up in the ring.”
