Lacing his hands together he opened his mouth then shut it. Shit, he’d made this awkward with his leering which was... Sadly, this was not a first. She seemed normal enough considering she could see him, like she worked here.
His look rose again to her, hoping she’d stop the nervous gestures if he responded. “No. Nothing’s there... just...” The ghoul tapered off, touched a finger to the binding of a book beside him, pushing it in. He then removed it. “There’s nothing there.” He said it more flatly, resolutely this time around.
Lacing his hands together he looked the blonde over. “Do you have any history books?”
For a second he gathered himself in the store, looking around he tried to put the interaction out of his mind. Then a few more seconds and she was back, a small shock of blonde hair around a shelf. Mentally his brain came to a halt. The ghoul gave a look like he was ready to run again… but no response. He just stared at her, trying to will her away like that.

Noting the old building the ghoul stood outside for a solid five seconds, squinting. The place had a old paint job, handmade text on the front sign, faded. After he was done staring his feet moved first, a solid work boot moving then the rest of him in stride to the door’s handle. Pulling, a bell sounded on his way in. It was a place lined with books in neat rows despite their age. There was that slightly vanilla, vinegar smell of old pages that hit him as he entered… and then a voice chimed as well.
Aleksi always notices the teeth before the person, the smiles. This girl looked directly at him, greeting him and his eyes narrowed at her expression. A flat, “He-hey…” and he paused where he was standing, mouth narrowed out into a line, and eyes drifting off. He dropped his head and shuffled off into an aisle to the right to get out of her line of sight.

Aleksi rolled his shoulders, stepping back as the creature hulked over and stepped forwards to eye the kill that’d been his. His face was close enough to see each individual droplet on his muzzle now, his extended and sharp canines. His claws were still out if he was playing at something.
“I... don’t not like them.” He grinned sheepishly and he took a step back so he wasn’t practically touching him. “Yeah, scavenger, or whatever you want... ” Rolling his shoulders again, He eyed the body one last time then gave up on the thought of it entirely. It wasn’t worth it. Instead he lifted the edge of his shirt to wipe his mouth, claws slowly retracting back into flesh.
A far-off siren was the only noise in the alley for a moment. Then their breathing. “You hunt here often, Mr.Wolf?
His prey couldn’t have gotten far… he was sure of it. James had caught the man unawares, pouncing on him and getting his teeth into where the shoulder and neck met, claws rending his back. But the man had been stronger than he anticipated, shaking him off and making a run for it.
He had been fast, too. And James had been following the trail of blood for a better part of an hour before he came upon the alley. The great, black wolf’s breath misted the air as he sniffed and listened. There was an odd crunching sound from within and he growled, deep and low, a warning that this was his kill, not to be tampered with.

The ghoul was a bit taken off guard by her response. Not only was she really chipper, perhaps annoyingly so about the situation... but she also looked very dangerous... like it could end at any minute. That was usually true with creatures that hunted. Had blood on their maws.
“Yeah, go ahead and take. I don’t turn down meals. Only needing two parts...that seems... inconvenient.” He sucked his fingers, starting with the index to the pinky. Once done he wiped his hand on his jeans. “I can give you an email if you want... contact info.” He scratched his head, a sudden itch.
Chung Ae stretched out, as she pulled her dress back up into its proper place. Her latest meal having gone a little more chaotic than she had planed, she pushed her hair down and tried to straighten up.
“Not even a half hour and the body goes off to the scavengers,” she mused, her blood still singing from the excitement. “Evening.”

The bookstore was musty. The scent of the old books was a comfort to the witch as she slowly put books on the shelves to sell. The store was a good fit for her. Quiet enough and hardly lethal to her. It was also nestled away on a side street close to home. As the bell of the shop rang she turned to greet the newcomer with a smile. “Well, hello there,” she beamed.

Aleksi chewed the paper as she got up, swallowing then taking a lazy look, head following her tiredly as she made to leave. She’d realize soon he hoped, and halfway to the door she did. He still sat idly as her poof of hair made it way back through the cafe and her chair squeaking as she pulled it back out.
He wiggled in his chair, stretching and readjusting as she stared at him. Scratching his chin he put down his coffee and held up a hand for a second glaring back at her. “Yeah. Warding rings.” He wiggled his fingers, knuckles to her and showing the silver things off. “Prevents.... humans from paying attention to me for long... so kinda... self explanatory when you glanced at me.”
His eyes trailed out the window, leaving her gaze. “I notice new faces around here. The best places to eat are right around here...” He smiled at his own comment slyly, still staring out into the street. “So, what are you... Do I get to know?”
Alek put cup to his mouth, biting the paper. Amidst the commotion in the cafe people passed by behind him, a drone of noise and he stared. Sliding out the seat with one hand it turned out to be lighter than he expected and skidded across the floor. As soon as she’d responded even in the slightest he fell into the seat. He didn’t wait for her to say a definite “yes” or anything and slamming it back into the table with his body he continued to look her over, unsympathetic.
“I’m… sorry.” He stated it plain as day, his voice sounded he didn’t use it much and the comment was insincere. In the inside of his eardrum he could hear her pulse, her breathing. Everything had quickened. Another sip of coffee and a clear, sharpness bloomed in his head. “I’m bothering you on purpose, you know.” His voice cracked on the last word. He set his elbows on the table.

Alek just let out a wet coughing noise that didn’t inspire confidence. He adjusted himself in his seat, scratching his stomach and stretching, seemingly unconcerned with appearance. Still biting the paper of the cup, he chuckled at her confusion, eyes locked on her. He liked her hair but was slighlt miffed he couldn’t quite place what she was. She didn’t smell human.
His teeth went through the paper of the coffee cup probably a bit too sharp and perfectly white and he chewed the white paper, tucking it into his cheek.
“Let me guess...” He pointed a tattooed finger at her. “New in town... came from somewhere else.” He drawled it unquestioningly, like he knew it was a fact and lowered his hand. Alek left a gap there and spoke the next part lower, scooting in a bit closer. “... not quite human, right?” His eyes gleamed with glee and he hope he’d get a reaction from her.

The man spun on one knee from his kneeling position. Looking at the source of the voice he stared her down. He’s already gotten a good chunk of the arm into his mouth, pointed-teeth rending the flesh like rubber sheeting, breaking the skin off in a layer. A crunch and the wet snapping of ligament, and he stood after finishing the bite he’d already been taking. He didn’t like talking through a full mouth and swallowed, snake-like. It visibly traveled down his throat.
Patted the front of his jeans he closed one eye and squinted at her from the other end of the alley. “Fuck.” He cussed but then nodded curtly, not directing it at her. “Ey, sorry ‘bout this... I usually clean up around here... Miss.” Inhaling, he smelled what she was. He didn’t like dealing with them. The foxes. Although not the strongest supernaturals due to their inability to heal they were quick, usually had connections he shouldn’t upset. He nodded at her, wiping his mouth with his knuckles.
Blood falling from the tips of his fingers and chin he gestured to the kill with a thumb. “Scavenger or not... if you leave this here once you’re done I can get rid of the rest for you. No charge.” He smiled grimly. Blood still in his teeth, them and his jaw finally clicked back into place completely, human-form momentarily regained.
The alleyway felt slick, cool. Slowly he dragged in and towards the form on the ground. The body was positioned unnaturally and Alek stared at it like a work of art, hovering. Under the AC of some offshoot apartment he could feel a drop of water on his brow and it felt amazing… just… bless the nights in which he could feed and dine on leftovers. Most of the time he was on edge.
This one was fresh still, his face twisted unnaturally and he could feel his hands steep in something wet so apparently he was bleeding too. No matter, he wrung his hands and kneeled down next to it, sucking on his index finger.
Time to eat.

Alek heard him just before he could smell him. He’d been downwind he guessed, the breeze blowing through the alley going in the wrong direction and him letting his guard down. He cussed under his breath. A small noise stepping noise, an erratic breathing pattern. It was getting closer, rounded the corner. He threw his head up, eyes catching the light and blinked slowly. What he saw froze him in place. With his mouth still sunk into his meal’s arm tendons, jaw distended and rows of teeth slowly retracting... he let go of it. The front of his shirt slick and caked with dark red and Alek dropped the limb he’d been trying to pull loose from the torso only a few moments ago. It fell unceremoniously with a squelch.
He’d seen transformations before but this was just ridiculous. Before him was a werewolf. Hw was a big sucker and looked like he could move fast, was evaluating him. It had jet black fur with beads of blood on and around it’s mouth, lips peeled back in a low growl directed at him. Aleksi’s breath misted the air and he spat a red chunk onto the asphalt, clearing his throat as his jaw slid back into place and he rubbed it with a bloodied hand. It was up to the wolf on what went down.
He wasn’t one to take other’s work if he could help it, but he felt that he’d already overstepped his welcome here. He put his hands up in a defensive gesture, black talons still peeking out from the flesh of his human form. He continued, taking a step back but getting ready to lunge if necessary. Voice sounding like a smokers, he croaked, “Look. Let’s just pretend this never happened. I’m real tired as is...” His eyes twisted up, glaring the wolf down.
His prey couldn’t have gotten far… he was sure of it. James had caught the man unawares, pouncing on him and getting his teeth into where the shoulder and neck met, claws rending his back. But the man had been stronger than he anticipated, shaking him off and making a run for it.

Hailey wrapped her hands around the warm cup of coffee resting in front of her. She looked around the café, her eyes slowly glancing at all the unfamiliar faces. She couldn’t help the beating in her chest. She took a tentative sip trying to calm her churning stomach. She was starting to doubt her decision to move to New York.

The kink in his neck wasn’t going away. Palm over the skin on the back of his neck he pushed at the glass tiredly. Realizing it was a “pull” door he muttered under his breath and did so. Alek could just tell how he looked. Dressed down, eyes red. He hadn’t been sleeping enough and he he needed a coffee before his eyes would really open. That’s why he was here after all...
As Aleksi entered the cafe he made a beeline for the counter. His usual wards prevented humans from focusing their attention on him for too long and he’d remembered them today. Even if it was New York, people tended to remember the guy covered in tattoos. He sighed. Standing in line, he idled and skidded a shoe across the tile and scanned the crowd as faces looked him over as usual.
One girl in particular, big hair... she looked directly at him and caught his attention. He made it to the counter and then paid for coffee, black before wandering over, a finger pointing at the seat across from her. “... anyone sitting here?”
