“Not you.” Lavellan stood to her full height, running fingers through her hair in a way that made his lips part in awe. “The idea of losing you, as you said. So many people have already died but…’Kinder in the long run.’ Right?”

The bitterness was a jab to his stomach.

“Yes.”

Solas responded too quickly, and her eyes fell to the floor. To his right, the fire snapped, licking away at the kindling. It was loud in the silence between them.

“The future is so uncertain,” the mage offered, as a condolence.

Sizzling wood gave way to another pop in the depths of the hearth. Her chest was rising and falling with ragged breath, fists clenched.

“Is that not more reason to be together now?” Lavellan dared.

There she was, The Inquisitor: unabashed in moments of tension, pushing through conflicts when others would retreat. He was always despairingly drawn in, always attracted to this. From the very first time she agreed to lead them to the Hinterlands, eyes sharp as lyrium daggers, a part of Solas savored her shadow.

A part of him with teeth.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt so flimsy with the structure of a fic before. Solavellan nation, hi, I’m new here. I have a question. Or like, it can be for fic readers in general too, idc.

When reading a fic that leads up to smut, do you prefer to have the story told from ONE perspective (Lavellan) or TWO (also Solas)???

I know there are some similarities across the board for the Lavellan character, but the relatability is something really important to me when I write. I want it to feel accurate to the reader’s experience. (Like writing for V in Cyberpunk, for example. I know she can vary based on your choices!)

Annnnyway. Lemme know. I’ve got like 12+ pages of an Inquisition fic so far and no idea how to order it.
