Gotta love/s the old "both sides"-ing in the ostensibly well-meaning post re the hate in character tags and general anti behavior.

Because sending death,doxxing,and rape threats, harrassing actual sexual abuse survivors, baselessly accusing people of being pedophiles, racists, ableists etc, and just general, gleeful, deliberate assholery and fandom etiquette violations are all in any way comparable to the crimes of...asking people to tag correctly,remember and practice fandom etiquette (including to please not post character hate in tags,don't like don't interact etc), and politely correcting antis when they are,you know,straight up lying,or trying to pretend their esoteric fantasy headcanons are at all supported by the actual source material. Yup, entirely the same thing/s 🙄😒🤦‍♀️.

Antis actively seek out tags, communities,accounts, events, and so forth, dedicated to character they hate. They go out of their way to engage in this. But, let me get this straight,any pushback at all is somehow equal to that? I'm terribly sorry not everyone is sufficiently mindful of their sweet little feelings in response to their oh so very "sensible" posts. Conveniently ignoring, of course, that even a "hey can you please not tell people you want to kill them for liking character x" or just asking them to tag correctly,or not post hate in character tags gets the reaction of a massive self-righteous tantrum. Also conveniently ignoring that they just keep rage baiting,spamming,and being awful whether ignored,asked nicely or told to fuck off. Or that they just keep going until they do get a reaction, then use said reaction - however minor or deservedly scathing it might have been - to play the victim. Because that too is part of their little game.

"Both sides"-ing this issue, even disguised as humor, only furthers their narrative, and is not actually helpful.

It infuriates me that we are asked to pretend like the malicious behavior is somehow broadly mutual when it most assuredly,demonstrably isn't, just to placate the same people who not only are the actual problem but will not change their behavior no matter how nicely you beg them to.

I'm sorry but pointing out that antis (especially Marius antis), and a large, very loud toxic faction of the show only fandom have been actively, deliberately harrassing the book fandom,and Marius fans in particular who are largely trying to mind their own business isn't equivalent to said harassment. Just because that is an uncomfortable truth doesn't mean it isn't true or that everyone is honor bound to pretend both sides are equal in this to cushion the sting. Because they aren't.

Are there toxic jerks on all sides involved? Sure. Are Marius fans the majority? Hell no. All we want is for antis to stop harrassing us. Similarly most of the books only fandom also merely wants to be left alone, and for show fans to be respectful of the source material, and the books fandom, to tag correctly,and just not go around to use every opportunity to be rude, and entitled.

To say that the books fandom has been equally as belligerent and invasive as the show only fandom has been to the book fandom is insultingly inaccurate to say the least.

And I know people in the show fandom will deny this,get defensive,and there will be the usual tantrums but if the show fandom could collectively reflect on and admit, for one moment, that it has developed a reputation for antis and toxicity for several very pressing reasons,and treat it as an opportunity to internally improve the fandom instead of lashing out at the book fandom then maybe we could get somewhere.

The book fandom,and even its various niche groups have their own internal issues that also need addressing btw, this isn't a "this fandom is better!" post.

But frankly, until there is some greater,honest pushback to the antis in the show fandom I really don't want to hear this pretend "we can all get along but both sides need to cooperate". Fundamentally that would be true if it weren't groups of very specific antis harrassing people who are already just trying to mind their own business in their own spaces.

Ii didn't realize you finally came around to the AMC show! I was pleasantly surprised that you liked it. I agree that Armand is not as good as everyone says, he's selfish and he lies, and he deserves what he gets.

I like that the show underlines that Marius pimped him out. I hope it shows the truth of what happened and how Armand suffered under him
