Laura Jack described how everyone has struggles that they often hide from public view. Make a reusable, portable sign (such as a chalkboard, whiteboard, or letter board) that says “I am struggling with __” OR “The truth is, I feel __” and get someone to fill in the blank with something that has been challenging them. Take a photo of them holding the sign and posing in the most happy, beautiful, carefree pose they can. Post your image on Instagram, tagging #GISH and @laurajackcoaching. Make sure you have their permission to post their photo! Laura would love for people to read pages 7-9 from the Compassion Code Starter Guide before attempting the challenge so they can be kind and thoughtful about their approach.

In the award-winning documentary, Lily Topples The World, Lily Hevesh says of her life before the domino community, "The old Lily was kinda shy and scared of opening up. I was just… like…. lonely, yeah [….] I didn't know how to be me because I didn't know who I was." Using a minimum of 50 dominoes, blocks, books or other 'topple-able' building materials, create and topple a word or a design that represents something unique to who you are. Record it as it topples and post it on Instagram, tagging @Hevesh5 and #GISH.

I often make other people get tattoos, but this year I'm flipping the script and making you help me get one: Design a pointillism-style tattoo for my shoulder that incorporates a baby cheetah, a sockeye salmon and the words "wild and precious life" or something similar. The baby cheetah represents my son; the sockeye salmon, my daughter… and the phrase has deep meaning to me. I intend to use a mashup of the designs I like best, so give it all you've got. (Then, if you are so inclined, get a pointillist tattoo of three things that have deep significance to you — but you don't have to do this part to get your Points.)

What’s your GISH sign? Create an “astrological star chart” coloring book page for your GISH star sign using past GISH mascots as the astrological symbols, but instead of Taurus (the bull), it’s I.M. Possubull, and so on. Add your sign’s horoscope for GISH Week at the bottom.

What does it look like in Chillax’s chill cave? Show us what’s behind the door: create a luxurious, idyllic place to beat the heat, chillax and unwind in a public spot on an urban street corner, in a commuter station or at a bus stop . Make sure it’s open-air to keep the vibes flowing, but include amenities that help people meditate, cool off, and refresh their bodies, minds, and spirits.

The GISH Gnomes have been collaborating with NASA and Twitter to develop "Time Twitter" – a special hack to send a single short text message back in time to your former self. You have been offered the chance to send a "Time Tweet" back to the childhood version of you. In order for the tweet to reach your younger self, you must tag it with "#IWishKidMeKnew" and "#GISH". Remember – you only get to send one message, and it has to be 280 characters or less. Submit a screenshot and a link to your post in comments.

Every year, the GISH community unites to “Change A Life,“ making a profound difference in the lives of people facing extraordinary hardship. In the past, we’ve gathered our community to help Syrian refugees rebuild their lives, support a courageous team of women working to clear unexploded bombs from villages in Laos, and assist a farming co-operative of Rwandan genocide survivors working to feed their families — among the many other vital efforts the GISH community has helped to mobilize around people working to overcome tremendous adversity.
GISH Ambassador, photographer, and humanitarian Giles Duley has introduced many of these people to us through his Legacy of War Foundation. Despite losing his legs and one arm in an IED explosion a decade ago, Giles travels to the most remote regions of the world to share the stories of people thrust into unimaginable hardship, all in hopes that we can support their quest to build better lives.
In the chaos of conflict, marginalized people are among the most vulnerable; they are often left behind and suffer unimaginable hardship due to the ravages of war. Nowhere is this more true than the war zones of Ukraine. This year, Giles has been speaking to activists and organizations risking their lives to ensure the safety of people otherwise left unsupported by big aid agencies — people who have been left behind to fend for themselves in the direst of circumstances.
Not on our watch.
YOUR MISSION
In partnership with Legacy of War Foundation and Random Acts, we’re setting a goal of raising $100,000 to assist LGBTQIA+ Ukrainians and Ukrainians with disabilities.
WHAT TO DO:
Create a fundraiser page here and get at least 10 donations of a minimum of $10. WE ARE NOT ASKING YOU OR YOUR TEAMMATES TO DONATE. Rather, we ask that you reach out to the global community and your social networks to make a contribution. Then, submit a screenshot of your fundraiser showing 10 donations and the total amount donated to us for your points.
WHAT YOUR DONATIONS DO:
Your donations will fund Legacy of War Foundation’s work essential support to marginalized Ukrainians who have been displaced due to the effects of war. We are setting an initial goal of raising $100,000 for Legacy of War Foundation’s Ukraine Crisis Response (in partnership with Random Acts). This will enable us to fully fund two critical projects:
We will be funding a year-long “disability hub” in Ukraine to supply specialized wheelchairs and equipment. Many people with disabilities were focused to evacuate without vital supplies, and this is not merely impractical or uncomfortable: lacking the correct medical equipment or mobility aids can have a serious impact on health and wellbeing. These funds will enable us to get critical equipment at cost and, utilizing our network of volunteers and partner organizations, distribute the equipment where it is needed most.
But that’s not all: we will also be funding two shelters in Lviv, Ukraine — one for women, and one for LGBTQIA+ individuals. These marginalized groups are at particular risk in Ukraine as Russia overtakes their towns and their homes. We will be working with Women’s March and Insight, two reputable organizations with a long history of supporting these groups in Ukraine. LGBTQIA+ individuals’ lives are at particular risk as Russia invades due to their draconian stance on LGBTQIA+ rights, so the need for this help could not be more urgent. With your help, we’ll be able to provide shelter and support to 250 vulnerable Ukrainians for six entire months through these two shelters.
Please help us reach this important initial goal so we can ensure that no one is forgotten or left without the support they need to survive this brutal war.
DONATIONS ARE 100% TAX-DEDUCTIBLE (for countries other than the U.S., deductions are contingent on your laws). 90% of the donations will benefit the Change-A-Life efforts with 10% to Random Acts General Fund to further support random acts of kindness, like these, all over the world.

There are a multitude of species of life that exist only in the Amazon, and our wildlife biologists just found the rarest of all: your team! Show us an old-school natural history pinboard with your team as rare Amazonian insects. Every member of your team should be present and we must be able to clearly see your faces.

Item 34
(TIMELAPSE) Speaking of the Amazon, this year's GISH winners will go on a trip of a lifetime to the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest where they'll explore the biodiverse lands and meet the Indigenous peoples fighting oil companies who are destroying their ancestral land. The Amazon is home to not only these humans but also to more species of plants and animals than any other terrestrial ecosystem on the planet, with thousands of species of flora and fauna and new ones discovered every day. We need to protect it — especially from oil extraction! Create a timelapse video of a scratchboard art piece creation that "reveals" the colorful and biodiverse Amazonian scene that exists, but only when we remove toxic black sludge from the picture. Make sure to include a message to the oil companies about their irresponsible pillaging of this fertile land. Post your video and tag #GISH, @AmazonWatch, and @Chevron, @BP, @Shell, @FronteraEnergy, or any other fossil fuel corporations that have a history of harming the Amazon.

COLLABORATIVE. The GISH Book Club is playing a game of hide-and-go-read! Leave a copy of a book you love in your neighborhood and post a clue in the GISH Bunker, GISH App, or social media to help people find it. Then, go find another team's book. Submit the picture of you with the book you hid and the one you found, side-by-side, and include the name of the team whose book you found.
