Hi, Tack. I've recently heard about you and how you saved your city. There's not a lot of people like you in this world. I have to ask, do you ever wonder whatever happened to that Thief?
The tacks pinched between his lips swung to settle in the corner of his mouth, his bony shoulders lifting in a brief, nonchalant shrug. Not particularly. The man had been rather odd, of that there was no question ...but at the very least, he’d seemed to have a change of heart about his greedy nature -- if only at the very last possible minute.

*hands over a box of baklava* For you! Also, have you ever wanted a mother?
He blinks, pallid hands parting to accept the box in silent gratitude; surely he didn’t deserve such a nice gift, but far be it for him to refuse. He mulls the question over a moment before rolling his shoulders in a non-committal shrug -- of course, he supposed a part of him did wonder what it would have been like. But it was rather difficult to miss something that you’d never had. He was grateful enough for the cobbler who had taken him in as a child and acted as a father to him.

Fingers flayed, palms open as he waves his hands gently in an effort to calm the other down; please, don’t! There’s no need to cry! Really!!

you have siblings? i have a big brother
The flaps of his burlap hap brushed his cheeks gently as he shook his head. He had been orphaned from a very young age, and the cobbler who had owned the shop he ran now had taken him in and made him his apprentice. He’d never had any siblings -- at least, not that he’d ever been aware of.

do you have a favorite flower? I love irises and forget me nots
He rolls his shoulders somewhat modestly. It may seem silly, or simple, or obvious ...but in truth, his favorite flower is roses. They’re beautiful, and they smell wonderful ...not to mention, they’re terribly romantic.

I'm full of contradictions. I chat to myself in my head about music and movies all the time, but talking to other people is hard and I come off really boring. When I'm by myself I think I'm a cool confident girl, but in reality, outside my house I can't do or say much to stand out in a positive way. I don't know which me is real
Crystal blue eyes blink back as he appears to take in the whole of the other’s confession. Tapping one bandaged finger to his chin in consideration, he gestures nonchalantly to the stranger with an open palm -- as far as he believed, the “real you” was ...well, whoever you wanted to be. After all, he hardly considered himself a soldier, or a hero, or anything more than a simple cobbler -- but that hadn’t stopped him from standing up to the army of One-Eyes to save his city and the people he cared about.
If he had any advice, he supposed that it would be that it’s hard to stand out to everyone, because everyone is so different. He doesn’t stand out much, to be honest, since he’s so quiet and plain -- but that doesn’t stop him from enjoying the things he does, like cobbling. This stranger should continue to be confident and not doubt themselves; keep trying, talk about the things that they like, and eventually he’s certain that they’ll find company that relates to those topics and does find them engaging to be around. The first step is always being comfortable with who you are.

Do you ever take your hat off much? Also, what does your hair look like?
The flaps of his hat gently slapped his cheeks as he shook his head “no.” He wore it almost all the time -- mostly to keep him warm on the frigid desert nights, or to shield him from the merciless sun during the arid days. But he was only happy to show the other what his hair looked like -- his pale hand lifted to rake his hat off his head, revealing a mop of tousled black.

When was the last time you cried?
Thin, almost nonexistent brows crease in furrowed thought. In truth, he couldn’t really recall. He’d never been an overly emotional person-- but aside from the times he’d cried as a child, or when he’d stub a finger and his eyes would water, the most significant cry he’d had... was when the cobbler who’d taken him in and raised him, the original owner of the shop passed away.

I've been having some bad days lately. Is it OK if I come in your shop sometimes to calm down?
The simple cobbler replied with a comparably simple nod; he certainly didn’t mind if someone found solace in his shop. It was a relatively calm place, after all-- quiet. Though that was mostly due to his own disposition.

He almost started as she drew him down, wide-set eyes taking in the rich, purple hue of her embellished gaze. If her beauty and the nearness of her didn’t send his heart reeling, then the affection in her words certainly did. Her life... she wanted to spend her life beside a simple cobbler. He drew a deep breath, drawing strength from her own resolve-- together. He would never have to face anything without her standing by his side; he knew it to be an unshakable truth. Thinning his lips to hold his tacks steady between his teeth, he relented with a curt nod.
Yum yum caught his cheeks in her dainty hands and gently pulled him to look at her. “Tack, please. Please come with me. I want to spend my life with you.” She said softly. “We’ll talk to father together!” She sent a dazzling smile up to his gaze in attempt to convince him.

The burlap flaps of his hat slapped gently against his cheeks as he shook his head in wide-eyed denial-- it wasn’t that he didn’t want to remain by her side. He truly would relish the opportunity to remain beside her awhile longer... But he wasn’t in any particular mood to be arrested and executed today. Though if he knew Yum Yum by now, she would be insistent.
The tapping to her hands caught her attention and she pulled away from her love. “What is it Tack?” She asked, but looking into his sapphire gaze she already knew. “I don’t want to go back to the palace….not without you.” She said softly. Her fingertips brush against his cheek. “Come with me.” The words left her lips without her permission but she didn’t care. She wanted to spend the rest of her life with him even if it meant bringing on he wrath of the horrible Zigzag.

Rough, pallid fingertips came to rest over the warm skin of her arms as gently as feather down while they were wrapped around his neck. He could hardly imagine what she may be thinking in that moment... but if her embrace was any indication, than it was an elation that almost matched that of his own. A swath of orange caught the corner of his gaze, and he turned briefly to note the myriad of colors that the sunset was painting the sky through the little hovel of a window adorning his shop-- evening was falling quickly. With a tap to her hands, he focused his vibrant blue gaze on her as he cradled her fingers in his own in silent question; though her absence was the last thing he desired, she ought to be getting home to the Palace. After all, she’d stayed in his shop the night prior-- her Father and the guards would begin to wonder where she’d gone.
His sweet smile wrenched a small giggle from her lips and she wrapped her arms around his neck. Her cheek pressed against the fabric of his overalls. Now that they had confessed to each other, what were they to do now? Surely ZigZag would not allow their marriage! She dashed those thoughts from her mind. ‘We’ll figure it out later.’ She thought to herself.
