December: The best thing about today is that you are still here. The best thing about tomorrow, will be what was best today. • Happy New Year https://www.instagram.com/p/B6wShiWhveW/?igshid=1el66smtu97hi

November: Every celebration doesn't have to be BIG. With that being said, every accomplishment, no matter how "small", deserves to be celebrated. You are worth it. • November is filled with a lot to celebrate for us: our founder's birthday, our inception, and the start of our sister business @acscentedair. The celebration of all 3 came in different ways, but all was filled with appreciation. https://www.instagram.com/p/B6v3nuCBh91/?igshid=1kiheltrhc31p

September: It's ok to not know what you're doing. It's ok to ask for help. There is no rule stating that you have to do any of this alone. Every seed needs other influences to grow. https://www.instagram.com/p/B6o74ESBOmO/?igshid=wfzcdvpycc7a

August: As important as it is to stay focused and consistent, it's also just as important to rest. Pressure makes diamonds, but also bursts pipes. • Fun fact: This wasn't the original message written for August (forgot to write it down), but when thinking back to August, this was absolutely what I needed to hear and practice to get back to a grounded place. It helped. https://www.instagram.com/p/B6mWMDyh2Kf/?igshid=ulrw1t0r8odz

March: "March Forth" • A simple message that reminds one to keep going, no matter what. Run into an obstacle? March forth. Failure? March forth. Success? March forth. The "end" of one road? March forth, because there's more waiting for you beyond what you're expecting. https://www.instagram.com/p/B6YjgNVh7H9/?igshid=13bhxd9j72emi

November 24th marked our 1 year anniversary of life and December will wrap up our first full calendar year of providing quality massages, so we wanted to share one of the things that kept us grounded throughout this entire year. Every month when we changed over the calendar, we would right a message on the bottom as a boost of inspiration, motivation, calming, and clarity. For the last few days of 2019, we’ll share our messages with hopes that they’ll give you some juice to go into the new year with. (Since there are only 11 days left, we’ll do the first 2 today. * January - If you ever want proof that your goals and dreams are possible, just look at how far you’ve come and how you’re not stopping. * February - You being here is all the permission you need to be great. https://www.instagram.com/p/B6WL4RVheS_/?igshid=ifqfazhwf50i

"It would be very easy to give up, but would whatever you gain from doing so truly be better than what younwould gain if you jeep pushing?" • June is halfway over and I've been sitting heavily with this month's #GroundedCalendarMessage. The path you choose to walk is never paved all the way down and sometimes it's not even clear on where you should be walking, but it's there for you with gems along the route and a glorious treasure at the "end". It's very easy to say "keep going", but sometimes your body and mind don't listen, but say it anyway because it's a reminder that you need, especially when you know you're destined for greatness. Say it with me, “It’s okay to take a break.” * It is very, VERY easy to get lost in work. To let your drive completely take you over and just go. To not stop til you get enough. Strangely enough, the kind of society we live in almost expects or demands us to be that way. “Keep going, don’t stop.” “You’re almost there.” “I can sleep when I’m dead.” But the truth is, rest is absolutely a part of the process. Rest is a big contribution to getting the work done because it insures that you’ll be here long enough to see it to completion. * The notion of resting is seen by a lot of people as something they can’t afford to do until they’ve reached that thing that they’ve been going for. That if you stop, you lose, or at the very least fall behind and now you have to do double time to get back on track. I’ve literally seen people go until their bodies fail them so hard and so often that they have no choice but to sit still and recover (and come see me). * Rest is never the enemy. It is just as important as go because rest allows you that recharge time. It allows go to be more efficient when you’re back on it. It also allows you to take a moment to see what you’ve accomplished so far (all this work you’ve been doing has to be for something, so sitting back and marveling at it is a must along the way). * I say all of that to say, I will be getting some rest this Memorial Day weekend. As we therapists are often telling each other, “Healers must also find time to heal,” so I am practicing what I preach and will be back at it on Tuesday. Enjoy your weekend, take some time to breathe and realign yourselves, and remember that you are the most useful to yourself, your goals, and others when you’ve taken time to also care for yourself properly. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx2fh3JHsbo/?igshid=gcs3vcqvonzv

Stress is a heavy hitter. It takes no prisoners. It’s like everyone has a Draw 2 in their hands, but you just ran out and the next person is out for blood. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to avoid because there’s always something that sneaks up on you and usually in the most unexpected form. And stress can take it’s toll on you in many ways from headaches/migraines and fatigue to your body being thrown off. I’ve known of women whose cycles have been thrown off (by a couple of weeks) and bodies start to shut down. * One of the things we easily know if born from stress is tension, especially in the neck and shoulder areas. As any therapist will tell you, stress/tension in one place can throw the entire body off. Your tight shoulders pulling down on the muscles in the head causing frequent tension headaches and migraines. Tightness in the hamstrings causing problems in the gluteal and lower back area. There’s no end to the damage stress can do on the body, especially if you just try to ignore it. * Massage will not fix your car. It will not get your boss off of your back. It will not make your husband not give you the baby back as soon as they start crying. However, massage will help you better tackle what’s fighting against you with a clearer mind, less aches, and better mobility. Massage will help you get through your work day more efficiently and will allow you stillness that you may often forget you need to bring to yourself and live in for a while. I’ve had quite a few clients say things to me such as, “Nobody’s ever done that before,” or “The therapist told me they couldn’t do that (something that was absolutely within their scope of practice and honestly pretty basic),” or “You really focused on the areas I needed,” and the list goes on. I bring that up to say that finding the right therapist is essential to your health. The therapist that will listen to your needs, come up with a plan catered to your goals and assessed needs, listens to you and your body, and is willing to provide you with the best care they can provide is an absolute life saver, game changer, day maker. * With all that being said, the right therapist for someone else may not be the best fit for you. When I worked in a spa, I had clients that only came to me and there were clients that only went to other therapists. On days I wasn’t available for my clients, but they needed to get in, went to other great therapists and told me later that they’d much rather stick with me and the same things happened with me being the “stand-in” therapist, which I took no offense to because my main concern is that the client get the care they need and is best for them, not what my ego thinks should be happening. * When you go to get a massage, don’t be afraid to ask for what you want, to ask a therapist to spend more time in a certain area, to ease up on the pressure, whatever (within reason). When all is said and done, everyone involved is there for your betterment, so make sure that you are getting what’s best for you. * #massage #massagetherapy #massagetherapist #massagelife #massagetherapylife #massagetherapists #betterliving #selfcare #selflove #supportsmallbusiness #supportsmallbusinesses #supportblackbusiness #supportblackbusinesses #blackownedbusiness https://www.instagram.com/agroundingtouch/p/BxD_14FnX1F/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=xx8uloa961r0

The other day, one of my clients reached out to me and asked if I had any availabilities that day because someone they knew hurt themselves. As a massage therapist, this is an all too familiar thing; clients coming in because they’re hurting. I mean, it makes sense and that is absolutely what we’re here for. What also often happens is that a lot of clients only come in when they can’t stand the pain anymore, the Tylenol isn’t helping, ignoring it isn’t working anymore, etc. * As I may have said before, massage is often seen as this luxury thing or something you should do if you can’t fix the problem yourself, and then once you get “fixed” come back when/if the problem comes back, but even with that, you’re doing yourself a disservice because that one incident, especially if not addressed right away, could put strain on your body that one session can barely address. * As I tell each and every one of my clients, especially those not on a consistent schedule or those new to just getting massages, it is preventative and maintenance care. Just like your car gets a regular oil change, your body is a spectacle of a machine that needs that tune-up, that reset, that care to keep it going in top condition. * #massage #massagetherapy #massagetherapist #swedishmassage #deeptissuemassage #therapeuticmassage #sportsmassage #selflove #selfcare #wellness #massagemag #massages #massagetherapistlife #Phillymassage #phillymassagetherapist https://www.instagram.com/agroundingtouch/p/Bw9jR7eH_9k/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1n31kdt7j141w
