I know we are all used to hear bad news from the USA or UK when it comes to trans rights but this time Germany wants to play in the same league.

Our idiots at home ministry came up with the fucking idea to start a register for all transgender and nonbinary people which would mean every person working at some public position could always at any given time see your assigned gender at birth, your deadname, your address and who knows what else.

We had been there in the past. Hitler Germany called it the "Travestite Law" back then. Our politicians didn't learn.

We all know this is unacceptable.

Please, if you are German, sign it. If you are not, spread it wide and far.

This had been stopped once a few years ago. It needs to be stopped again.

what pronouns do the characters in gravity falls use in the japanese dub?

in japanese, the way you refer to yourself has more connotations than it does in english with "i"/"me". there are a lot of different ways you can refer to yourself-- there are more masculine and feminine ones, ones for older people, younger people, etc. so here's how each character usually refers to themselves:

Dipper: boku

Mabel: atashi

Stan: ore (boku when he's 12)

Ford: ore (boku when he's 12 and 18)

Bill: watashi

Fiddleford: washi (boku when younger with ford, watashi in blind eye video)

Soos: ore

Wendy: atashi

Robbie: ore

Gideon: boku

Pacifica: watashi

Watashi 私 : In formal or polite contexts, this is gender neutral; in casual speech, it is typically only used by women. Use by men in casual contexts may be perceived as stiff.

Atashi あたし : A feminine pronoun that strains from わたし (watashi). Rarely used in written language, but common in conversation, especially among younger women.

Washi わし : Often used in western dialects and fictional settings to stereotypically represent characters of old age.

Boku 僕 : Used by males of all ages; very often used by boys; can be used by females but then carries tomboyish or feminist connotations. Perceived as humble, but can also carry an undertone of "feeling young" when used by males of older age. Also used when casually giving deference; "servant" uses the same kanji (shimobe (僕)).

Ore 俺 : Frequently used by men. Establishes a sense of "masculinity". Can be seen as rude depending on the context. Emphasises one's own status when used with peers and with those who are younger or of lesser status. Among close friends or family, its use conveys familiarity rather than "masculinity" or superiority.

Ore-sama 俺様 : "My esteemed self", "Mr. I". Used in fiction by very self-important or arrogant characters, or humorously.

most of these feel pretty expected to me, but im not gonna lie i was actually SHOCKED bill didnt use ore-sama. ever, from what i saw skimming through all his clips. hence why i included it here. i 100% expected him to use watashi when hes introducing himself to people with the intent of making a deal, but i very much expected him to switch it up to ore-sama or at least ore once his true colors were revealed. for reference, some anime characters that use this are ekubo from mob psycho, haruhi suzumiya, sesshomaru from inuyasha, etc. really funny, interesting choice on their part to not go that route

I love the way that Ford haunts the narrative of Gravity Falls because it's a very nontraditional way that a character haunts the narrative. Usually when a character haunts a narrative, we know their identity from people they knew in the past (think Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond from Steven Universe), but in Ford's case, we don't ever know his identity until he's revealed in Not What He Seems and A Tale of Two Stans. Since we don't know his identity, a lot of his narrative haunting is very subtle and not easily noticeable upon first watch. It's not until you rewatch the series after the first time, you see just how much impact Ford's had on the narrative and how much he haunts it. Like, almost every single episode has some subtle nod to him from the one polaroid photo of Stan in the end of The Legend of the Gobblewonker to his glasses in Carpet Diem, but since you don't know his identity yet, all those subtle nods don't ever seem too suspicious until you rewatch the series.
