A few honest words
Hey! The dev is alive again! The game isn鈥檛 dead... Well, not really. So there are a few things to discuss today. First, I want to thank anyone even reading this because that means you鈥檙e still here after nearly a year of absence from me. You鈥檝e no idea how much I appreciate that. Now, for the burning question: *No, the game is not dead.* Life has been busy, and still is, and no new development is getting done any time soon. I鈥檓 just gearing up to head into finals at school and I鈥檓 still working part time on top of that. However, come the end of April I鈥檝e got nearly four months off between this semester and the next. I intend to work diligently on the game during that off time. Okay, so some real talk here. After the most recent published update, I began to work on version 2.0. This was a demo build of the game which had focus on lighting (as hinted in the last post), and a few graphical updates to add atmosphere to the whole thing. Part-way through the revamping of graphics in version 2.0, I realized there was a lot I wanted to change in the game in terms of mechanics. 2.0 was a graphical overhaul, but now I鈥檓 on 3.0... kind of. 3.0 will be the next update any of you see. It will be released as 0.3.0, as it is still a demo and as such is not even a 1.0 full release. Once I decided to start work on 3.0, I hit a block in my own motivation and energy. A big part of 3.0 is looking at new plug-ins for codes such as quests, improved health or battle mechanics, character creation and more! This is ultimately a fantastic development for the state of the game, but takes a lot of research and planning to do. I have to find exactly which plug-ins I鈥檇 like to use, and then make sure they鈥檙e all compatible. This research part is still the phase I鈥檓 in, since I can do that without having to work excessively in one session when i have no time for it.
Lots of work has been going on behind the scenes, but with 3.0 the game is basically restarting from scratch on the framework of the old game. That鈥檚 why I haven鈥檛 talked much about it. The other aspect of this lapse in communication is that I鈥檝e stopped using Tumblr very much. I check this site maybe once a month. Instead, I鈥檝e moved to discord.聽

I鈥檓 active on discord and more able to answer questions, plus you guys can interact with each other for things when new working builds come out. Another big thing I鈥檓 working on is streaming progress. A friend of mine is teaching me how to set up twitch, so I鈥檒l be doing that and then streaming each session live to you all to follow along!

Tired of standard brightness and stale lighting? Well, not that these pictures do either justice Prepare yourself for the next update! Featuring - that's right, dynamic lighting! This is just one of a whole slew of small features I'm working on, to give the game a more polished and even feel! As you can (kind of) see the standard lighting (left) leaves everything bright and visible, as though you were walking through the park. Not the best for building atmosphere in a dungeon. So, I've gone to outside methods (very, very complicated ones,) just to bring a small circle of darkness to make everything feel 10x more in atmosphere! This dynamic lighting is in ALL the maps, not just dungeons! But, if you want to see the rest, you'll have to wait for the full update to come out~ THIS took me 8 hours. Probably longer than it should, but I'm proud. Y'all can expect that new update coming at you pretty soon, now that I've got over this massive hurdle. I intend them for my main blog but I don't even check where they're going she I post on mobile so sometimes they end up here, and I don't catch them until a week or two later. Short Update:
Hi! Hello! Yes, it is I, the quiet and sparse creator! Unfortunately, college has proven to be quite the handful. What little time I have is being thrown into books, and studies. However! I've got some spare time this week! So I'm (hopefully) going to be working on the next update! It might not be done this week, but I hope to get it done by the end of this month! What can you expect? Well, I'll be adding a whole new village! In this village, you can expect to find side quests (have you all found the grape man yet?) And continuation/hints towards the story! Additionally, rather than standing around, miku will be the reward for completing the main quest line in this town! Additionally, to balance out the additions of side quests, I'll be looking into creating an item that can be used as a user's manual, or guide! This is actually a lot more difficult than it sounds, so no promises on that! It'll be an attempt, but only time will tell if its a good one! That's about all for now! A quick bugfix to the 1.1.0 update! now you鈥檒l be able to leave the castle and enter freely. A bug in the last update caused that to not happen. This will be important for all your grinding needs! enjoy!

INTRODUCING: UPDATE 1.1.0, A.K.A, making the game a GAME
That鈥檚 right, it took two weeks longer than expected, but it鈥檚 FINALLY here!
What鈥檚 new in this update?
- Made a copper sword ACTUALLY a copper sword, not a lucky sword.
- ADDED REAL FIGHTING. (Will elaborate later)
- Extended the ending into a FULL, PLAYABLE THING.
- touched up an issue caused by leaving and re-entering the castle (yep, you can do that now)
- Increased the directional ability of AI鈥檚
- Added in more ways of gaining skills, gold and EXP
- created a class system, and leveled out the curves to create somewhat balanced teams
- created unique abilities for each of the classes, scaling with level
- created ten tiers of weapons, armour and items, to scale up and make you stronger as monsters get harder
- added an item rarity system, with 5 different classes of item! Though, legendary items are not currently attainable.
These are just a few small things! There鈥檚 also two BIG things you can now interact with!
- MIKU
That鈥檚 right, the mean green fighting machine is JOINING YOUR PARTY!
Find her down at the docks, waiting for your arrival on the pier.
She鈥檚 classed as a WARRIOR, one of six new classes introduced into the game! Eventually, you鈥檒l be able to have six characters, and swap between any of them at save points!
She begins at level 5, to keep up with the curve of experience you鈥檝e gained at that point. She also begins with a copper sword, cloth armour and a bright smile!
mainly a physical attacker, though if you grind her to a high enough level, she does have a few magic abilities.
- THE WORLD MAP
What鈥檚 beyond the castle? Beyond the demo ending? Well, now you can find out. After clearing the extended goodbye sequence, you鈥檒l now be teleported to the world map. You may re-enter the castle by pressing space in front of it on the path, to return and sell loot or buy items! You鈥檒l also find Miku out here, to the far right.聽
The world map is divided into regions! there are grasslands, forests, deserts and more! travelling to each of them will generate different monsters, with higher difficulty and more loot further from the path!
the path connects the castle to the docks, and to the left, where the story will eventually progress. Though, at the moment, the left most region is locked. While travelling on the path, no monsters will spawn. However, leaving the path will start the timer. While off the path, monsters will generate at certain times, interspersed randomly.聽
In the shadows, legendary monsters will spawn.
Under clouds, or under floating islands, in the deep shadows, powerful beasts will spawn. I鈥檒l leave it up to you to take them on, or not.
Over 20 new monsters have been added, and special troops of monsters have a slight chance of occurring. Feel like things are going too easy? Wander in the right-most deserts until you encounter the Spider Horde. While they have a much rarer chance of spawning, they are there, and they鈥檙e out to get you!

Alright, so I've been busy at work all weekend. Didn't check dropbox until now, but it stopped at some point. Clearly this method is unreasonable. I did however think of an easier way to do it. Tomorrow is college orientation, but after that, I should be able to push the new update! Finger crossed, everyone!
