Halloween 2024 Special

Just a silly group sketch of the DC crew and my OC, Gerda, in a Halloween version. (If anyone is left guessing, Sabine is Carmilla, Katja Wednesday Addams (ofc in full white in her case), Jay went as Zorro, Sands was forced to join the fun as Dracula, and Gerda, not very far from reality, is a witch.)

hey, I may be a few days behind (on Arctober), but I've finally finished my chomper grenade for the Jinx prompt (well, at least as much as I'm willing to, because there are a few details missing and the bottom part is not painted)

it's entirely out of paper, work in progress pics below

love the firts paintjob (I forgot I could mix colours instead of only using black and white 👍🏻)

anyways, it's not as small as it seems to be in the pic where I hold it - it's about 12 cm tall

it's rather cute and was fun to make (not so much to paint), would recommend

Ghost Oooh, who could that be?

Well, what can I say, sometimes the goofiest ideas seem the most appealing to draw. The Halloween event mood got me. 8th sketch for @kelly-dreamway-sso 's SSO Promptoween.

XXII. The World- Aideen Today, the last card, the crown jewel of the Tarot's journey. (Major Arcana is often interpreted as the first card's, The Fool's, journey through the themes of all the other cards, gaining enlightenment, up to The World card. In my series, they are represented by our SSO MC and Aideen.)

Aideen is the true heart and soul of Jorvik, being it's start and core. The card means many thing, amongst them the theme of completeness, suspension between Earth and Heavens, assured success. Usually for basic Rider- Waite deck, this card puts woman representing Wisdom at center, with four beasts at the sides, representing either (or both) Four Evangelists, and the fourfold structure of the physical worlds. They are also there to represent the animal kingdom and living creatures, as well as to be symbols of the fixed zodiac signs and the four elements. In my version, these symbols are depicted with the Guardian Horses: Starshine, Concorde, Meteor and Tin- Can, with their respective Circles of Star, Sun, Moon and Lightning.

you know what? fuck it, I'm going to post everything I did for Arctober in slightly less horrible quality (may edit later), no matter how bad it is

it's just too special for me (this show and the challenge and new season coming up) so I'm putting all of my insecurities aside to show the unfinished, poorly drawn stuff that I'm ashamed of; join me on the painful journey of getting back to drawing (haven't done anything like this in pencil in two years or so, I'm basically missing all the basics)

above Rio it says 'poor cat' and the stuff I covered on the legacy page are some notes I've taken on what was hard for me when I drew it and what to improve ..oh, an on the very bottom on the second Piltover page it says 'you fuckers will never leave Piltover', just don't mind it it's a Polish joke thing

XX. The Sun- Anne This card is very special for me, with Anne being my favourite Soul Rider for well over a decade, and with how deep and moving plotline around Concorde is. The Sun represents many things, like happiness, success, positive outcomes, hope, innocence, growth, abundance and happy unions. It's symbolism is slightly more complicated, though- as stated: -----

Rider–Waite symbolism

A. E. Waite suggested that this card is associated with attained knowledge. The child of life holds a red flag, representing the blood of renewal while a smiling Sun shines down on him, representing accomplishment. The conscious mind prevails over the fears and illusions of the unconscious. Innocence is renewed through discovery, bringing hope for the future. -----

Thus, I used black flag in place of red, as black (at least in Western cultures) is commonly used to represent death, to showcase Anne's grief over the past Concorde- with Sun (and Aideen, represented as usual in this series, by the pink energy surrounding the Circle symbol of each SR) now guiding the renewed pair with hope, as the magic of the Vala brought them back together- allowing the past innocence and prosperity to shine once more. Plus, I think the victory of conscious over the unconscious is also a fitting theme for Sun powers, as well as Anne herself, considering the dreamy, abstract and frightening nature of Pandoria, which is highly interlinked with both.

The 4 stars are for the Soul Rider sisterhood, and to represent Anne's (or Sun's Circle, especially considering also our dear Elizabeth) placement in the group. Grief is inevitable at war, but Sun will help them rise over the pain. With the Sun's guidance, positive outcome awaits. Sunflowers are a symbol of Sun Circle for my AU, here are used more so to signify optimism and location itself, I like to imagine this scene is the first victorious ride of Anne's and Concorde's after the aging up of the latter- a nice trail ride across the Forgotten Fields, Greendale and Jarlaheim is what I imagine as very suitable for this. Do you think they visited Jorvik Stables (and Herman) together once more, as well?

Sunflower Anne visits statue of the Aideen of Sun Circle to honour her fallen closest, Concorde. And, suddenly the cold eyes of stone seem to glisten with life, the wise and proud look so well known to the Sun Rider haunts her. ------- Fourth sketch for @kelly-dreamway-sso 's SSO Promptoween. Keeping up with showing little aspects of my AU, there are various statues of Aideen across Jorvik, most of them centuries old. Especially Valedale Druids take care of those artifacts. One type of such Aideen statues are her depictions as the Druid Circles of Star, Sun, Moon and Lightning, sitting atop the Guardian Horses. These shrines are especially important to all of the generations of Soul Riders, being a place of meditation, renewal of magical power, as well as a place to honour the fallen ones. Due to such a crucial place in the druid mysteries, they are often more hidden, most well known set being placed in the trees close to the northern druid paddock. For the Sun Circle, it's customary to bring offerings of sunflowers, little trinkets made out of sunstone or all gold-like metals that reflect sun well.

Falling Can you say no to Songsorrow's tragic charm? ------------------- First sketch for @kelly-dreamway-sso 's SSO Promptoween, I really loved the themes of these prompts, so I'll try to post simple sketches like that daily for all of October, especially since the Tarot Cards serie is so close to the end. I hope you'll enjoy some looser and simpler works like this as well.

I really can't wait for the Haunted Track c: Songsorrow is my absolute favourite horse in all of the game, made even special for me, as I bought it for my birthday last year (and named Shadowheart, to honor the best girl of BG3) :DDD

XIX. The Moon- Linda

For The Moon, going with the Soul Riders theme, I picked Linda. Meanings of the card can be: hidden enemies, deception, danger, illusions. Moon Circle powers can help see through the false, and Linda's powers often awaken when danger is close.

Her clothing references clothing she has in SSL (by the way, her part of SSL must be easily my favourite).

XVIII. The Star- Lisa Of course, The Star was perfect for the Soul Rider of Star Circle. Yet, considering the themes of this card- loss, but also hope and bright prospects- I think it's safe to say Lisa fits it. I went with her old design, it's just so iconic- and shows her strong character much better. I also made Starshine more like a typical Jorvegian Wild Horse :D Symbolism: Aideen's harp, 4 white stars for 4 Soul Riders, pink star for Aideen's power (of Star Circle). The background pictures Forgotten Fields.

VII. The Tower- Dark Core/ Dark Core's Oil Rig Today, Dark Core's rig as The Tower. The Tower symbolizes themes like calamity, unforeseen catastrophe, disgrace and deception. With, especially the latest, quests, I think this really suits DC oil rig. It was a bit tempting to picture the moment the rig gets destroyed by Anne in one of the latest quests, but I didn't want to include a spoiler. Little game offer: Can you spot Mr Sands? Hahaha

XVI. The Devil- Sabine

After a long break (for which I'm sorry :c), the fanbase favourite- Sabine, as The Devil card. Meanings of this card include: violence, force, extraordinary efforts.
