Allison Edge is an artist based in Brooklyn, NY. She grew up in Charlotte, NC, received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Georgia, and her Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Allison moved to New York City in 2000 and exhibits her paintings and drawings in several galleries. The artist became interested in portraiture in her teenage years and began taking commissions for her work while an undergraduate art student. Her two favorite subjects have always been animals and people. Above prices are based on a portrait with basic background. Add $200-800 for detailed background, depending on complexity. Basic process for a Portrait Commission, using Brix (see Brix image on this site) as an example: Brix was painted in oil on a 12 X 12 in canvas with a basic solid color background. The client provided several digital photos of the dog, and we then agreed on which pose and lighting was best to use as the main source photo. At this point I gave the client a time frame in which the painting would be completed, allowing for drying, varnishing, and shipping. Photorealism Process: Jakes's Portrait

Here's a look inside the studio while I was working on this portrait of NYC Goldendoodle Jake. I pre-mix many colors before I begin, and use many natural hair brushes, like red and black sable. There's a lot of set up AND clean up each day. You need to keep $100 brushes clean ;)
