The Gardens Between Trailer - Where Memories Hide and Grow

The Gardens Between team is very excited to share our official announcement trailer with everyone today! Check out the new website!
As you can see, the game is coming along so well and we couldn’t be prouder of this gorgeous thing we started making two years ago.
We want to extend a special thanks to our graphic designer, Sarah Mangion, for helping the logo and logotype - we couldn’t be happier!
The Gardens Between is an adventure puzzle game about friendship, what it means to grow up, what must be let go what should never be left behind.
Best friends Arina, a headstrong girl, and Frendt, a boy wise beyond his years, fall into a lush world of mysterious gardens. The vibrant world grows around objects from their past to form curious combinations of time and imagination.
Together they traverse a bittersweet story of friendship where the forwards and backwards traversal of time makes cause and effect malleable. Memories surface as the duo stargaze, illuminating the meaning and depth of their friendship.

Design for a little jumper mate in The Gardens Between.
We have been creating puzzle objects!
As the game has no text or speech, we have really been thinking about how we can design objects that seem natural to the Gardens and have an affordance to them. Jon, our artist, has come up with this little thing. :)

I was on a panel last week at Geelong library for Deakin University’s Working With Words event! I has the opportunity to speak all about writing for The Gardens Between and what it’s like writing an adventure puzzle game with no text or speech.
There were lots of questions about game writing, getting into it and praise for there being a female protagonist in The Gardens Between. :)
It was a pleasure to be on the panel with Libbie Chellew, a script coordinator for Wentworth, Aneyz Lindop, a publicist working at Penguin. Thanks to Maria Takolander for being a wonderful moderator and pulling this power panel together!
