Rewatched The Good Place for the first time since s4 dropped and. Oh my god. The Good Place said "people are a result of their environment but we always have a moral responsibility to be better" and The Good Place said "every day the world gets a little more complicated and it gets a little harder to be good" and The Good Place said "even in the face of total nihilism, when nothing you do will matter, you still have to at least try. Because trying is better than the alternative" and The Good Place said "if you have bills to pay and shit to deal with you don't have time or energy to become a better person" and then The Good Place really said "people get better when they get external love and support. How can we hold it against them when they don't " and THEN The Good Place really said "no one is irredeemable. Everyone can try to be better today than they were yesterday" AND THEN! The Good Place said "Heaven is just enough time with the people that you love" OH MY FUCKING GOD.

Study Aesthetic || Slytherin
@freelance-adventure suggested that I make a Slytherin common room aesthetic, so I did a bit of a twist on that. Thanks for the idea!

I have this theory that all slytherins are bisexuals, no exceptions.
I don't know if it's their energy
I don't know if it's their clothing style
Could be the eventual bad behavior? The sarcasm? The dark humor? The "don't fuck with me" face? I'm not sure
But look at all that BISEXUAL VIBES
Look at that girl OHMYFASGAHAYSHASHA
Yeah that one too
And of course
Oh my god
OH MY GOD
I CAN'T
Well I think it's not a theory anymore. IT'S A BLOODY THESIS
Oh and also me and all of you slytherins who are reading this 😝
Bye

December 3, 2022 - Saturday
December will be a great month inshallah, I believe it! So far I have:
tested negative for covid (after 2 weeks 🦠) alhamdullillah
cleaned + disinfected my entire room - feels like a new start
went thru all my income + expenses for the last half of the year 🤧 (exhausting, productive and revealing 😬)
talked with my friend on the phone (she who is too busy to breathe).
little bro returned from trip
Tomorrow the plan is to add a pompom to a hat I knitted, make parchment envelopes to give out the dates my bro brought back from umrah, and maybe even go outside after 2 weeks -wipes tear- (outside pics are from last winter)

All the Presidents of the United States are resurrected in the far future with their last memory being at the point of their death but in refreshed, youthful bodies. They’re dumped on a planet where they are told they must kill each other, Hunger Games style, until only one survivor remains…

Fuck me upppp fammm
using a multiverse as a narrative framework to tell an immigrant story really is THE best possible implementation of this concept. like the idea that every time you make a decision in your life a different branching universe splits off where you chose differently, while obviously broadly universal because of course everyone wonders what if (what if i had chosen differently, what would my life look like then), really does hit such a specific core question that is imo fundamental to the immigrant experience
all the time my parents talk about imagining what lives they might have lived if they had chosen differently, if they had never left home, if they had never come here, if they had not raised their daughter in a world and a culture so utterly foreign to their own where she might make her own choices that are painfully incomprehensible to them. it’s all tied up with a sense of grief and loss and regret and almost existential melancholy, not necessarily because they think they chose wrong specifically, not because they think they’d actually choose differently if they had a chance to do it over again, but merely because that choice is such a monumental one and the enormity of it and the ripples it would end up causing are only obvious in retrospect. you make the choice to uproot your life and move to a different world, a different universe, and once you cross that bridge you can never go back. you can never truly go home again. and when we do go back to visit, we see in their old friends and classmates and relatives funhouse versions of ourselves, people we might have been but never were and never will be.
every immigrant story is a ghost story and the ghosts that haunt you are all the people you left behind including yourself—versions of yourself, of your family, of your children, of the people that are you but that you are not, lives that you recognize but are not yours. immigrant stories are ghost stories are multiverse stories and in multiverse stories all of your ghosts inhabit your body simultaneously, everyone who came before you and after you and everyone you left behind, everything that is and everything that never was… it really is everything everywhere all at once i am going to scream

i cannot emphasize enough how important it is to have gossipy bitchy littl pirvate group chats or discord servers with like 4 people in them whose stated purpose is posting "new kind of guy" or "this reddit post is so fuckin dumb" or "i got into a fight on twitter today look at this idiot's reply" so your homies can still see it and laugh and back you up but more importantly, so you are not tempted to post these kinds of things on main
