Meet me at SOFA here in Bogotá, Oct 13-17! (It’ll be my first con since the pandemic!) This is an alternate cover for DETONATOR #1 made exclusively for a print run for SOFA. Drawn by me and colored by my better half Carlos Nicolas Zamudio, who’s the artist on the comic. DETONATOR is an indie comic created and written by James Parrish and drawn by Carlos Nicolas Zamudio, with colors in subsequent issues by Douglas De La Hoz.

The num-si-pode. There’s a myth from Brazil where men who loiter alone at night by town lanterns are approached by a beautiful lady in a ghostly white dress. She asks him to light her cigarette, and if he tarries to pull out a match, she suddenly grows so tall that she’s able to light her own cigarette on the lantern before she devours him. Apparently the myth was born from a fear of the then new technology of gas lamps. This is a piece for my husband who may or may not be designing a slew of playable Pathfinder races based on South American mythological creatures. He’ll color her in the future.

My main design for Lionelle, my genderbent Sir Lionel from Arthurian legend and one of the stars of the webcomic I’m planning to launch in the next year. She’s both a knight of the Round Table and a princess of France. Befitting her status, she has a rather extreme personality, which I hope shows through! I think I might take a break from uploading designs for a bit, but I’ve still got a little more of hers that I can share later. Yes, I did a lot. I couldn’t help myself. What do you think?

A design of Sir Lionel of Arthurian Legend, or, as in the comic I’m preparing to launch in the next year, Sir Lionelle, the only lady knight of the Round Table. There’s a lot more to her design I’ll share later. What do you think?
Lionel is one of my favorite Arthurian characters, and I cannot wait to share my version of him. I have big plans! Are there any other fans of Sir Lionel out there?

Design inspired mostly by Armstreet’s King’s Guard suit. It is gorgeous.

A timelapse of my latest illustration. I just learned how to record them. What do you think? Should I post more of these?

Character design for a webcomic I’ve been slowly preparing over the years. If you've heard me talk about writing something, this is it. Since I expect to launch it in the next year, I thought I might start to share bits of my work with you. It’s absolutely a passion project and means a lot to me. Do you like medieval knights and Arthurian myth as much as I do?
Bors is one of my favorite characters. I've got some big plans for him. What do you think of him?

(No spoilers please!) When I was ten, I told myself I’d become the greatest mangaka in the world. Seven years later, while watching the Berserk ’97 anime with my brother, he asked: “Which character do you relate the most to?” Not a doubt in my mind. This was a bit of an emotional piece to make. Lately I’ve been reflecting upon my aspirations, which have matured a little, and how far I still have to travel to get there. As so many privileges have been granted to me because of my ambition and raw talent, I took my dream for granted as if it were an inevitability. I believed it was my destiny. But as the years have added up, it’s become increasingly clear to me that nothing in life is guaranteed and that I must learn to fight for my dream or else watch it escape me. What sacrifices am I willing to make? Do you feel similarly?

I don't know what possessed me to think I could learn to freehand a castle in fisheye perspective in one day. Well, that's practice. Here's a WIP!

WIP of Griffith. I’ve wanted to make fanart of him for a while. I’ll post him finished next week since architecture takes a bit of time.

Danganronpa. Zombicide. Yes, actually.
Here I drew and colored Byakuya Togami (or as I lovingly nicknamed him, “Fat Byakuya”—players will get it) from Danganronpa 2 to be a custom character for Zombicide. It was a wild time. Nick and I might be the only two people interested in both properties. We play all these games together.
Nick made the Zombicide build for him, btw! If you don’t know, fat Byakuya is easily the coolest character in the 2nd game. He’s the leader herding all the other crazy kids together to save their lives. As soon as I got free time in game, I knew exactly who I wanted to chill with. I loved drawing him and his giant meat skewer.
In lieu of posting another WIP this week, I thought I’d share something random from my past. I’ve actually drawn 3 more Danganronpa characters, Nick has drawn some too, and he made builds for all of them. Would you like to see them in the coming weeks?

Angel--finished! Another experiment with different kinds of rendering. I messed around with this one a bit and enjoyed the metallic lighting. What do you think?

Another WIP this week. Cloud practice. I guess I could leave it like this, but I'm going to render that angel.

WIP this week. It'll be another fun illustration for next time. I'm really looking forward to finishing this one. I love art of angels but haven't had the bravery to draw any myself before. They make for pretty intimidating subject matter, imo, but I think this one’s turning out pretty well so far. I should do it more often.
