I just want to add that if you happen to have a cat who absolutely repuses to accept indoor-only life, you can get a harness and take them out on walks! Two months into adopting a my formerly free roaming cat we were both miserable. By than he'd spend most of the day and night crying by the door and window. [Despite having plenty toys, beds, nooks, attention and another cat he loves.] I got him a harness and a retractable leash, gave him some time to get used to it inside the house before going out, and now we spend an hour outside about every other day. We're both very happy with this arrangement. The cat gets to explore while I keep him safe from the local wildlife and the local wildlife safe from him. I'm also forced to go outside which apparently does me lots of good, so it's an all around win!
Tumblr media
I can think of a really easy solution to this problem.

Anybody who says cats only play along with human nonsense in order to obtain food has never seen a hungry cat completely ignore a full bowl of food in favour of giving you shit because you did not correctly perform the Dinner Ritual.

When I played it we called it "Kadars coming" with kadar apparently evolving from some version of kazak or such, which are an eastern european slavic group. There were raids on jewsh villages in east europ for ceturies with people being kidnapped for ransome and worse, so I can see how the game could relate? But also hilariously "kadar" is a hebrew homonim for "potter" which endlessly confused me as a child cause I really didn't see why people doing ceramics were supposed to be scary.... The game can get pretty intense when you're like 6 and about to run through a wall of zombies tho XD
People don't realize how deeply ingrained trauma is for the Jewish people. You know me and my friends from Jewish school used to play a game called "Russian school" the whole game was that someone has outed that a person in the class is a jew and whoever is the jew has to pretend they aren't no matter what the teacher asks them
WE HAVE CHILDHOOD GAMES THAT TEACHES US HOW TO PRETEND WE ARENT JEWISH WHEN INTERROGATED
And this was normal! Everyone knew and played this game.
Our whole lives are built upon the knowledge that they will try to kill us...even when we were too young to realize it.

One of my favorite jewish traditions is the blessing specifically mant to note events you're happy to be alive to experiance. It's scedualed a few times a year for holidays and said on big events like a birh, but really I love the little mundane use way more... Just taking a secound to celebrate being alive to eat a fruit that's finally in season again, or seeing a friend you've missed, or whatever it is you were looking forward to. Just acknowladging getting to experiance life is meaningful in itself.

I made you gif :3
So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said “don’t follow me if we never even had a conversation before” and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????
I’ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now I’m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that it’s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if we’ve never talked before.
Also, I’m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like it’s common sense but is that really a thing?

I can understand how "modern person thrown into the past gets by pretending to be a healer/doctor" is as surprisingly common of a trope as it is. I mean I'm fluent enough at bullshitting to be pretty sure I could pull it off to impersonate a doctor in any time pre-1800s. If I have no idea what something is or how to treat it, I could just get the opinion of the other whatever-passes-as-medical-professionals around, but if their suggestions sound like bullshit I'm not doing it. And I'll beat the shit out of anyone suggesting bloodletting or mercury. With my healing stick. I've tied little bells on it, that jingle comically with every smack.
The awesome curative powers of my healing stick come from two separate sources: Placebo, and me using it to beat anyone trying to give my patients mercury.

This is the parallel play website. Interaction is not a rquirment for participation!

I submit to you that the most iconic feature of any animal is either unlikely or impossible to fossilize.
If all we had of wolves were their bones we would never guess that they howl.
If all we had of elephants were fossils with no living related species, we might infer some kind of proboscis but we’d never come up with those ears.
If all we had of chickens were bones, we wouldn’t know about their combs and wattles, or that roosters crow.
We wouldn’t know that lions have manes, or that zebras have stripes, or that peacocks have trains, that howler monkeys yell, that cats purr, that deer shed the velvet from their antlers, that caterpillars become butterflies, that spiders make webs, that chickadees say their name, that Canada geese are assholes, that orangutans are ginger, that dolphins echolocate, or that squid even existed.
My point here is that we don’t know anything about dinosaurs. If we saw one we would not recognize it. As my evidence I submit the above, along with the fact that it took us two centuries to realize they’d been all around us the whole time.

There really is no better example of the racism of low expectations when certain far leftists criticise condemnation of the fucking Taliban as “peak white liberal feminism.” Women and girls in Afghanistan are being systematically removed from public life, denied the right to education, freedom of movement, of dress, even the right to speak in public or to each other. Animals have more rights than women under the Taliban.
And then you have these arseholes saying it’s imposing Western cultural mores on non Western societies to care about the welfare of these women, as if Afghan men couldn’t possibly be expected to know how to treat women like fucking human beings and they have the audacity to hold themselves up as “anti racist.” You’ve clearly shown what an incredibly low opinion you actually have of non white and non Western cultures if you think the situation in Afghanistan is remotely normal or indicative.
It’s absolutely putrid.
