Grit chips 300
Winner: Kyle Busch.
First of all, NASCAR- KEEP YOUR RACE NUMBERINGS STANDARD! seriously some times 300 means 300miles other 300 laps.
Secondly; Kyle must feel like a Hull resident at the moment. Wait forever for a win and two come along at once! Holding off a late charge from rookie Kyle Larson (the guy who was involved majorly at the end at Daytona) to win his second NNS race of the year! Can't give a great review of this race because I couldn't watch the race

*Squeeee* mega motorsport week!
OMG! I am so excited for this week.
1st race is the grit chips 300 NNS race. Justin Allgaier got the pole for this mega half mile race track. 121mph over half a mile is epic! This is all pointing towards a big race!
2nd race is the return of F1!! Even though Qualifying was rained out and rescheduled it will still be an EPIC weekend for a few people. Will be watching avidly at 6AM!
3rd race is the food city 500. Kyle Busch is the pole sitter and looks set to dominate!
All in all; This bunny is hoppingly excited for this!! Will next week top it? HELLZ YEAH! more on that to come!

Sam's town 300
Winner: Sam Hornish Jr
Was a good race to watch. Good match of wheel to wheel racing and crashing. The top two cars have got to be the Penske 12 of Hornish and the Joe Gibbs racing 54 of Kyle Busch.
2 bigger crashes today: Kyle Larsson and Trevor Bayne collided fighting for the lead. Kyle Larsson was involved in the other when he was collected by Joey Gase who was a few laps down.

Sam's Town 300 and Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas.
My first exposure to LVMS was the dreadful crash in 2011 which claimed the life of Indy 500 winner Dan Wheldon. These races will, hopefully, safer and more action packed.
In the nationwide race; it's business as usual.
This is the sprint cup Gen 6 car's first time on an intermediate track. Teams and drivers, namely Denny Hamlin who was fined for bad mouthing it, have been critical of the new car. Will it produce a show tonight?
Rain has interrupted proceedings this weekend; but I'm certainly looking forward to it.

F1 returns in 7 Days.
The long awaited return of F1 is now only a week away.
HRT are definitely off of the grid. A great loss to F1, however, many don't see it that way.
Marussia finally complete there line up after the saga which ensued after the loss of Timo Glock because of commercial reasons.
All teams have definitely got good cars; since the regulations basically mean that they are adapted versions of last years.
At this moment in time it's very difficult to pick Melbournes winner; Red Bull, Mclaren, Mercedes, Lotus, Ferrari and Sauber all seem to have very good cars, but they are all so close together.
One thing we do know from testing; It's going to be one heck of a Season.

Phoenix Review; sorta.
Nationwide winner: Kyle Busch.
Dominant performance from Kyle, pretty much flag to flag victory. Did drop back quite far in the order. But fought back mightily to win his first race in an absolute age.
Sprint Cup Winner: Carl Edwards.
The UK doesn't have great NASCAR coverage, so I can't give a proper review of Sprint Cup Racing. What I can do though is Listen on Motor Racing Network. This showed me one thing; that race was boring until the GWC. Brad Keselowski pushed Carl Edwards off the restart and the Carl just sped off into the distance to end a winless streak.
apologies for this being brief and well; rubbish. I hope to get back on track soon. Hopefully starting this week I will have the LAS vegas race reports up on the day of the event.

Dollar General 200 and Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International raceway
NNS: Just another race in the nationwide series really.First short course of the year. Micheal Annett was injured at Daytona and is being replaced by Aric Almirola in #43 ford. Will be watching this one :) so will be able to give a very nice review post race.
NSCS: This is a big race. First short course of the year (obviously) with few drivers knowwing how the new Gen 6 car will react to short course running. No driver changes are expected with the exception of Micheal Waltrip giving back the Swan racing car to David Stremme.
Verdict: Will be a very good weekend for NASCAR. Especially after the last lap crash at Daytona last weekend. Lets go racing!

Student Mug Fudge!
Why did it take me so long to try this!
Om nom nom! 2tbsp sugar, 1tbsp butter and a big-ish splash of milk. Heat in a microwave for about 4 minutes and rapid cool in cold water.
By rapid cool in Cold water I mean like a waterbath; don't put water in the fudge; that's stupid.

Girly post 1
What can I say about my life at the moment? Not too much actually.
Recently learned that one of my coursework pieces is a lab on a subject that I didn’t want; Molecular biology. This will more than likely involve some complicated prep like cloning of a gene into E coli, extraction of DNA and then a long wait whilst electricity does its job separating the individual molecules of DNA. On the whole; it’s not a bad topic and I will enjoy it. It’ll be easy to make a presentation on. It looks like I should be doing well this semester since my assessments look relatively easy.
Squeee! *flail arms* I’m going on holiday to florida in under 4 weeks. I am so looking forward to it. Sun, Sea, excitement and fun. I haven’t been on ‘holiday’ in ages. Last time I had one this big was about 3 or 4 years ago. That makes me feel old. It will be a great break from major Biology work. I have a lot planned. I’m, hopefully, going to the Indy Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Going to Daytona International Speedway. Eat some cool ‘Q and just enjoy my break.
I was listening to the Daytona 500 on Sunday evening and something hit me. My table; I was flailing in girly excitement and hit my desk. That really shows the point of this blog. There is no boxes in life. We are who we are.
Well that’s all I have for now on my life; Coming soon, more shizzle from various places including my burrow.
Until next time;
Calyx

NNS Drive4COPD 300
Winner: Tony Stewart (Chevrolet)
This was my first full NASCAR Oval race I have managed to watch. Only the second full NASCAR race, the other being the NAPA Auto Parts 200. Did I enjoy it; quite. From the beginning I could see why some people like pack racing and some don’t; but overall it was a very good race.
From the beginning; you could see who was fast; Tony Stewart (the eventual winner) and Danica Patrick basically stormed to the front. However; nobody stormed away with it.
That’s one thing I didn’t like about the race; everyone was so close and nothing really exciting happened. There was the odd spinner, the odd engine blow out; but other than that nothing.
But what it was; was unpredictable. No one knew who was going to win. One late crash made certain of that; taking out numerous cars, Including the second NASCAR female favourite Johanna Long. The Crash brought out the red flag leaving a 2 lap shoot out at the end. At the line it was still anyones race. But that’s when the trouble started.
Regan Smith’s car suddenly veered to the right taking out numerous cars and sending Kyle Larson’s car into the catch fencing. The debris flying from the car injured 30 spectators. Credit to the improved safety of the Tracks, only two were seriously injured and a number of the 30 were from the environment (heat etc).
Overall: 8/10
Comment: Let’s get to some proper racing in Phoenix at the weekend ;) (Also; make notes on races; doing it from memory is hard :()

Perhaps I should explain this blog.
Hi! I'm Calyx, or Carrick (if you know me pre 2012 or professionally).
My Life has changed a lot since 2010. I moved into a little box of femboy-ness, gayness and femininity. But life likes to throw curve balls doesn't it :p
My little box became too small for me. I'd been watching F1 since '09 and I started branching out of that box. I discovered IndyCar in '11 and now am starting, in '13, to follow NASCAR.
I'm a BioMedical Science student. I want to drive NASCAR at somepoint in my life.
I fit into many boxes. I just want to show how varied people can be and that boxes are for shoes!
