Sully could hear Sam outside, fumbling with the keys outside but hardly paid it any mind. He’d get in one way or another. He barely had time to greet Sam before he was through the door shouting birthday wishes. Which, admittedly caught Sully off guard. Not only that, Sam had got him a present too. ❝ Ha, just when I was running out! Thank you, Sam. But uh... who the heck told you? ❞

“And what , do tell, have you found?” Shaun smiled as her finger haloed the rim of her glass. She’d found this man at a bar and started talking over drinks. He mentioned he was an adventurer and this peaked Shaun’s interest. She was leaned up with her elbows on the table, listening closely. 

Sully was always rumored to have loose lips, but he was usually aware if he’s said too much. Unless, of course, he was with a woman. But currently, none of that mattered, there was no way he could land himself into trouble by telling old stories... right?

❝ El Dorado for example! Which, by the way, was no goddamn city of gold. Just a gold statue with a creepy corpse inside... Definitely not my fondest memory. ❞

❛ SULLY!! ❜ he shouts through the crowd, forcing his way through with an occasional ‘excuse me!’ or ‘ sorry’  - his accent was unmistakable  ❨ japanese… the l’s turn to r’s  - he was getting better at it though. ❩ it caught him a few odd glances. he was grinning widely. he places a hand on the younger male’s shoulder ❛ so — in class today, i learned a lot! — wanna hear about it? ❜  

He thinks for a moment, remembering the last time Ben went on a tangent. He wasn’t a bad guy, he was just a bit difficult to understand which made his ‘lectures’ all the more boring and confusing.

❝ Maybe later, Ben. Right now, I’m too hungry to listen to anyone. You hungry? ❞

she’s never set foot in padua before , but there was a first time for everything after all. crowds of people BUSTLING under the blazing sun , street vendors selling souvenirs of every kind up every corner. she would have liked to have visited parco iris gradens , or perhaps enjoy a herb crusted calzone whilst basking in the sheer magnificence of the weather — but there wasn’t enough time for that , or else someone else could SNATCH  the object which she had traversed almost halfway around the world for. there’s a brief glance at said object in the photograph clutched between her digits , but one minute it’s there —  &&  the next , it’s not. not paying that much attention to her path was bound to cause a  COLLISION  at some point , but it doesn’t stop her from being apologetic almost immediately. ❛ oh god — i’m sorry sir , i should have been watching where i was going. ❜  &&  there’s the photograph staring back up at her from upon the cobbled ground. ❪ well done claire , talk about playing it smooth. ❫

Padua, Italy. Good food, beautiful sights, and the women? ... Goddamn. If you ask Sully, it's definitely not the worst place to end up when out of a job, and possibly a pretty good place to start looking for another. The funds from his last little escapade would run out here soon enough, then he'd be stuck (for the umpteenth time) and forced to make an enemy out of this city. He chuckled slightly to himself, thinking of the last city he screwed over. His eyes were only shut for a moment but he still found himself colliding with the oncoming human traffic. 

❝ Ah, scu– ❞

he hardly got a word in when out came her apologies, surprisingly enough, all spoken in perfect English. Needless to say, Sully was interested. But what interested him, even more, was the picture on the ground. Something she dropped. 

❝ No, no, don't worry about. ❞

He said slowly before bending over, picking up the photograph and examining it a moment. 

❝ Hell of an artifact you got yourself here. ❞

He commented before offering the picture back to her. 

❝ Collector? ❞
