modern au jayce and viktor divorce when viktor gets tired of fighting his disease, gets the paperwork for a DNR and MAID, and then when he falls into a coma before he can act on any of it jayce is like "living will? medical aid in dying? noooo he never talked about any of that," and then uses every contact and privilege he has to get viktor into a wildly experimental drug trial, and when viktor wakes up he struggles with a profound sense of betrayal and can't look jayce in the eyes

Instead of trying to replace an ableist and incorrect usage of intensive though (e.g "the intrusive thoughts won tonight") to mean impulsive behaviour with the term "impulsive thoughts" (which is clunky because it obviously still draws from intrusive thoughts and is similar enough for people to not notice or know the difference, is still ableist as this is also a medical term, and self-contradictory, as any impulsive thoughts are not necessarily harmful in a way that works for the meme), I suggest we start referring to it as The Impulse. Capital letters and all.

Arguments:

- draws on the popular internet slang expression of The Horrors (unspecific but commonly experienced life struggles of both psychological and material original), and is therefore not connected to the ableist misuse of instructive thoughts;

- additionally, implies the existence of universal human experience with The Impulse, in a similar way humans universally can experience The Horrors, and therefore inclusive of all;

- also implies the existence of The Impulse entity which, according to individual interpret, can be anything yet immediately relatable to other people;

- is literally just funnier than both intrusive thoughts and impulsive thoughts in that context;

- sounds ominous enough to use in ominous situations.

Example of use:

"bro let The Impulse win 💀"

"The Impulse won tonight (dyed my hair at 3 am)"

"The Impulse telling me to call my ex [insert reaction picture]"

"can't let The Impulse win this one"

You can also smack at ™ there, implying that The Impulse™ is well known enough to be trademarked and widely recognisable, which I think is cool.

Most of the Justice League would all relate to each other because they are not only powerful heroes, but they also know that their wives are crazier than them in every way

Reading The Flash (2016) has me once again thinking about some opportunities that were missed entirely by Adams when he got to One Minute War.

There was so much more room for potential Ace and Bart initial hostility than Adams writing that Ace was jealous of the Kid Flash mantle and he assumed Bart wanted it back (he didn't).

The amount of prior history each character has contains wide overlaps of insecurity within the Flash Family, and they both had experiences that the other had once desired but did not receive adequate time with.

For Bart - was born to his powers and his powers came naturally, he knew what he wanted (to be a hero) and immediately got to know each Speedster and their identities just by virtue of being a Speedster himself, and to Ace's perspective this comes off as Bart never having to work or prove himself as trustworthy of any mantle because it was just given to him.

For Ace - he was welcomed into Iris' home and had a bond with Barry. When he decided to use his powers in a hero setting he then was also immediately taken in by Barry as his student and sidekick. Furthermore, he was allowed to have a relationship with both of Bart's grandparents even though Barry and Iris in this timeline were not married - this is something Bart wanted fervently and often fantasized about in his solo series because at the time it was impossible for him to actually be around his family.

So if someone wanted to write these two having beef with the other - Ace being jealous over a mantle that Bart didn't even want back is one of the least interesting ways to go about it.
