i’m obviously generalizing here but it really does suck liking a franchise that has a predominantly straight male fanbase because the way they interact with media is…
like, i’ll say “kyle rayner is my favorite green lantern because of his enduring optimism and compassion” and then cite/analyze multiple issues and storylines and some redditor will reply with “well kyle sucks at fighting lol” and it makes me want to bang my head against the wall. thinking “strongest/best fighter = best character” is just sad, not to mention the mindset of an elementary schooler. AND a statement like that is completely pointless because i LIKE that he’s bad at fighting (at least compared to other superheroes/GLs). it’s very refreshing to me to have a character in a franchise that is so masculine and militant who’s key moments are when he rejects violence. moments where he doesn’t are supposed to be rare and when he’s at his lowest. it also just makes sense for his character. he’s a dorky artist who was raised by a single mother and has zero interest in sports/working out and is physically the smallest of the male human lanterns. why and how would he suddenly be able to dish out hits like guy and hal 😭 but according to the dudebro GL fans that would make him a better character.

Arcane Daemon AU? Yeah. @inja-y-ddraig and I were talking, so here’s the headcanons for the main crew
I think Mel’s daemon could always wander away from her, they just didn’t try. Any mage’s daemon isn’t distance bound to their human. After their infinite embrace in the Arcane Jayce and Viktor touch each other’s daemons freely without feeling any weird recoil
Additional. Isha’s daemon is often a bunny, but also changes to a dragonfly to match Jinx. Vander’s was a Caucasian Ovcharka (disappeared after his first death, sort of fused with him). Silco’s a thorny devil. Sevika’s a ram.
Vastaya have no daemons, they are fused essentially

Man Absolute Flash is already cooking and it isn't even out yet. Wally is being hunted by his father who seems to work for the government (totally guessed it, very proud of myself). Honestly a fantastic twist on the main books. I'm really glad to see they are acknowledging how important it is that that man sucks.

Actually so obsessed with how much juice there is in this episode, like the fact that choosing to become severed basically brands you as unhireable anywhere else because 1. the ethics and optics of it are so controversial to people 2. outties essentially have no discernible skills that would look good on a resumé because they aren't the ones who actually work, a major cost of the convenience that the procedure offers
Which means they are really only employable by Lumon. They truly do sell their soul to the company store.
