Flank Speed coming soon to Steam
My new game Flank Speed is coming soon to Steam. Top down arcade style shooter inspired by Space War, Asteroids, and other such games.
Its less like asteroids and more like top down capital ship combat with 3 different ships to play with. Single player modes and online multiplayer.
Simple gameplay, arcade action.

Do you like obscure space age model kits? Consider checking out my Etsy shop!
Right now all sales help fund a renewable energy project I've been working on. You get a model, I get to make turbines. It's a win win!

Work in progress engine plume effect for the antimatter starship. The important thing is it works, so now I can fiddle with it and make it look good. The navigation system also works and the fuel system is now functioning. If you would like to learn more about the project and maybe support it, check out the kickstarter! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/adev1/cosmic-ocean?ref=discovery&term=cosmic%20ocean

Game kickstarter is now fully live! Cosmic Ocean is a space sailing game where you explore space in an antimatter starship. Traveling to other planets and other star systems at high sub-light speeds. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/adev1/cosmic-ocean?ref=discovery&term=cosmic%20ocean

My game Cosmic Ocean is getting ready to launch on kickstarter this weekend! The pre-launch page is already up. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/adev1/cosmic-ocean Cosmic Ocean is basically a sailing game in space. Using an antimatter starship to explore the solar system and beyond. Still in heavy development but at a state I can start crowdfunding for it. Check it out!

Been working on Cosmic Ocean, and had a thought. With my computer starting to die, and I use freelancers to help with scripting. I don’t want finances to get in the way of development. I'm wondering if I should try a Kickstarter for it?
The first build will have the solar system and ship functions. The first big update will add the ability to land on and explore planets. With the second adding the first interstellar target. But I don't know if anyone would be willing to back the game in it's current form.

It's comforting to note in every disaster, there are always people who's final thoughts or actions, where to help others.
Vince Coleman who died in the Halifax explosion because he remained at his telegraph station to warn a passenger train to stop.
The 35 engineers on the Titanic who kept the power on for as long as possible, aiding evacuations and the distress call.
Benjamin Keefe Clark, a chef working in the world trade center, who stayed in the building to help others, including his staff evacuate.
Astronaut Mike Smith's emergency air pack was activated from behind sometime after the Space shuttle Challenger broke up. Meaning either Judith Resnik or Ellison Onizuka used their last moment of useful consciousness to try and help a fellow crew member. That's humanity. No matter how evil people can be, no matter how cruel the world can get. The spirit of humanity and what it means to be a human, will always be with our capacity for love, and altruism.
A truly advanced civilization is denoted not by power, but by empathy.

My 3d printed Soviet Cosmonaut laser pistol kit is now finish and available on my shop. It obviously requires assembly and painting, but over all I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

A while ago I made a non-stellar object classification system just for fun. Because objects in space should be classed by physical characteristics not orbits.
I edit it on occasion, it's nothing serious just a pet project.

I could make this easier by not adding all the moving parts, but I want the soviet laser pistol to be articulated. Got the magazine and some knurling details done.

Radio telescope is online again. Time to run more tests. I'm still not completely confident on the focus of the feedhorn. But we will see. When I make the brackets for the metal horns I'm going to make them able to fine adjust and use a point light to center.

I have an Etsy shop where I make and sell 3D printed model kits. I mostly focus on obscure space things (things from history and concepts) with some technical cutaway models.
I'm always making new things to add to the shop. Kits are print on demand so I never run out. If you are interested feel free to check it out. Sales all contribute to funding my science projects so it's always greatly appreciated.

Spent time working on the navigation UI for Cosmic Ocean. 3 arrows will be used. Target, Ship orientation, and direction of travel.
You will basically want all 3 arrows aligned when engines are active.
Still a work in progress.

Ive started experimenting with the UI layout. These are not functional or final, just UI pictures I made to play around with placement in game.Navigation and control will not be WASD, it will be button and slider inputs. The UI screens will also be collapsible with the entire UI able to be toggled off if the player wants to get good clean visuals.
There will be key inputs for some stuff, and I'll probably include left right key bindings for people who really want to turn with A and D.
Engine control will be on screen using the slider and buttons. Navigation will be based on a 360 degree circle. The ship can be manually turned to any degree, or the precise degree can be input to align the ship.
Again it's basically a sailing game, not a 3 axis flight sim.
Finally, there will be a few IVA views that can be toggled to. One being a flight deck with functional interactive controls. Since everything in game operates on a flat 2D plain it will be pretty simple to implement. Other IVA views will be purely for visual appeal.
