is there a 'will not write/draw' list for participants? not necessarily something bad just things they're not interested in/cannot (eg some artists don't do armor -- steel samurai art might get tough)
Yes! There will be a space on the application form for you to list any things you're comfortable with creating.

Maybe just a more in depth explanation of how it’ll work? [...]
Everything is up on the info doc (prompt and fanwork guidelines, schedule, etc.) and if you need any extra clarification, feel free to send an ask to this account! You will get am additional little explanation when your assignment comes, but nothing that's not, again, available on the doc!

what games would be covered in the event? [...] Will there be a followup document for a more tailored experience? do we need to show art or writing that we have made beforehand? [...]
Every game in the series is involved! There's a full list on the info doc. When the sign-up form goes out in a week from now, participants will have the option to tick off any games they haven't played/wouldn't be comfortable creating for. In addition to that, there will be a little space for you to write anything you're not comfortable with writing, but apart from that, the prompts will be distributed blindly. You do not need to show any work beforehand — this is an open event!

Does my art have to be really good? Are first timers allowed?
Absolutely anyone can participate, regardless of skill or practice level. So long as you in your heart believe you can produce a complete piece that satisfies the prompt and that you're proud of and had fun creating, you can join!
#this isn't an exclusive event like a zine - anyone can join and the mod team is there to organize for you!#qna

Hello! This sounds very fun, I'd love to participate. I was wondering if you could clarify the content guidelines a little? It says "no child/adult relationship, no incest, etc." and while the first two items are clear, I was wondering exactly what "etc" was supposed to cover? Do you have an exhaustive list in mind of specific topics inappropriate for the event, beyond "no nsfw"? Thank you!
Hello! When I wrote it, I intended for the etc to cover things I’d mentioned in the no NSFW clarification bit and didn’t want to repeat myself by relisting, but now that you point it out, I see how it could have been worded better! The doc has been edited to hopefully read clearer. In the meanwhile, so long as you don’t request anything that falls under the umbrella of the listed inappropriate content, you should be good! A mod will get in contact if there’s ever an issue.
#so in less formal terms be appropriate and everything will be fine lol!#general guidelines nothing notsafe nothing like. gross and no lawyer/assistant use your better judgement blahblah#qna

can we indicate what we're comfortable writing in the application? ie. f/f, m/m, m/f, or gen? among general genres like angst, h/c, h/nc, fluff, etc?
There will be an option on the application form for you to list if there's anything you're really uncomfortable with! Please keep this broad, since it kind of negates the purpose if everyone has only a very concise list of things they're open to, but the option is there and available to be used at your discretion.

I was originally going to wait until the end of the interest check to update this information, but a few different people have asked this question so I'm making a post and info doc update early!
If I write fic, is there an expected word count?
The fic guidelines are as follows:
Writers will be expected to deliver a completed piece that is at least 1500-2000 words in length. There is no upper limit. This word count is a rough guideline, but we want to accommodate shorter-form writing so, if you feel you can deliver a quality piece with lower word count, reach out to a mod. Your fic does not have to be a traditional fic — for example, if you wanted, you could write an epistolary piece or format it in the game's textbox style!
When the fic is completed, writers will be expected to edit the piece through at least one person who is not the writer. You can either find a beta reader yourself, or ask a mod to do it for you. This is in the interest of providing your recipient with a quality gift free from spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, etc. Finally, the piece must be uploaded in its entirety to either AO3 (a collection will be made!) or another fanfiction hosting website of your choice (i.e. FF.net). The final link must be emailed to the mod team.
Am I allowed to submit traditional art?
The art guidelines are as follows:
Artists will be expected to deliver a complete piece of artwork. In this instance, 'complete' means a developed, lined piece. It cannot be a sketch. Colouring is not necessary, but it is strongly encouraged. These guidelines are looser for comic artists, but your final piece should still be professional-looking and meet quality standards.
You are allowed to create a traditional piece, but it must be scanned (either through a scanner or a scanner app) at a high resolution, with proper lighting and editing (i.e. cropped, no blur, etc.) and uploaded as a PNG file. If you are creating your piece digitally, the final product must also be a PNG file. The final piece must be uploaded to Tumblr as well as emailed to the mod team.

if a discord server ends up being made, will participants be required to join it to participate?
Hello! At this point in the interest check, I feel enough people have voted against a Discord server (~40%) that it would be unfair to mandate one for the event. I'm going to wait for the interest check to end before making a concrete decision, but what's most likely to happen is the exchange will take place mostly through email with an optional Discord server.
