Feel like it’s overshadowed by George’s “go write a poem about it”, but the Lockwood & George exchange right before that is legit one of the funniest moments in the series for me.
Lockwood: Gravediggers. Proper honest blokes, y’know, real salt-of-the-earth.
George: You’ve never even spoken to them.
Lockwood: …yeah, well they’re a bit scary.
Like it’s giving “rich politician trying to relate to the common folk” and I love that George calls him out on it lol

Thinking about how George loves Lockwood just as much as Lucy does (though not in the same way). And after Lucy leaves he's the one who has to stay behind, and watch Lockwood become his most self destructive. Also thinking about how George loves Lucy just as much as Lockwood does (though not in the same way), and feels just as blindsided by her leaving, after he'd felt that they'd all become a family. And then Lucy doesn't call, or write, or stop by to see them again for 3(?) months. She just vanishes - ghosts them with no true explanation (no pun intended). They both knew she wasn't telling the whole truth about her reasons, and they each drew their own assumptions about it. Regardless, they each felt betrayed in their own ways.
George's feelings and frustrations are so valid here. Whereas Lockwood is so tangled up in the trauma of losing people that he'd rather just sweep aside his hurt and move right into forgive & forget, just to get Lucy back (in the way he never can with Jessica). George wants Lucy back just as much, but he has more freedom to express his feelings before he forgives.
I'm obsessed with the difference between how Lockwood and George react to Lucy (inofficially) rejoining Lockwood and Co in The Creeping Shadow. Lockwood is so desperate to get her back that he forgives her for leaving immediately, whereas George is so furious and heartbroken that he shows her the cold shoulder for nearly the entire book. They both refuse to address the problem in their own way: Lockwood by pretending it doesn't exist, and George by holding a grudge and refusing communication with Lucy on an emotional level. It's such an interesting look into how they deal with conflict and their personal feelings on Lucy leaving.
#kinda just rambling i guess#but i'm still not normal about this series#lockwood and co#l&co#the creeping shadow#anthony lockwood#george cubbins#lucy carlyle#the iron trio

What I've heard is that the "success" of these shows is measured based on some combination of their overall view count / minutes watched PLUS the number of NEW subscribers they attract which is, IMO a ridiculous way to measure creative content development. But what's strange is that we all know it's more cost effective to maintain current customers than to constantly be trying to attract new customers. But it feels like Netflix and these other streaming services don't really understand that part. They seem to want to just keep pumping out NEW to attract NEW, while constantly disappointing their EXISTING customers by cancelling the content they signed up to watch. Make it make sense?! Not a very fun or flashy rant, but it's something that is really concerning to me for the integrity of current and future content.
ATLA was fully meh, bland, dull. And I'm a huge fan of the animated series, so it's hugely disappointing that they missed the mark AGAIN with a second lame adaptation. How they've decided to make two more seasons of this show is a mystery. Maybe they take social media engagement into account as well? Honestly who tf knows (tho I would actually LOVE to know if anyone has an inside track on it).
Another day, another disappointment.
Live action version of Avatar gets a two season renewal to finish the story but Julie and the phantoms, Lockwood and co, the irregulars, and so many other good shows get nothing?? How are these decisions made?

Netflix's reasoning to cancel this show is genuinely baffling. I also scoffed when I saw they're advertising Shadow & Bone as "Emmy Nominated" like GURL you can't be flaunting that AND actively cancelling these show - it makes you look dumb.
Lockwood & Co being the fourth most watched show for Netflix UK this year and still canceled. WHO DO I HAVE TO FIGHT!!

Guys. The Lockwood & Co. people are crazy. They are hardcore about those books. Tell me how they started losing 20/80 to Holes, a well-known classic middle grade book that’s assigned it schools, to overtaking it within a couple of days. That’s insane

PSA for those of us who are suffering L&Co withdrawal I want to offer a short reprieve -
I just found and finished Harlan Coben's Shelter and absolutely fell in LOVE with this character Spoon!
He completely steals every scene he's in, he's just so endearing and sweet! In an alternate universe where L&Co was set in the US, I could see this actor playing Lockwood (though more aligned with the goofy weirdo he is in the books with his undercover costumes and terrible accents).
Overall I would say the plot of the show was meh (it's a mystery / thriller and I found the reveal kind of unsatisfying), and the main character, Mickey, is pretty flat. But the supporting characters - Spoon, Ema, & Rachel - make it totally watchable and fun! I would imagine these besties getting along well with our Iron Trio (and I would totally read that fic if anyone's writing it!).
Also, also the show is very gay like... there's two wlw pairings... but also there's just a lot of gay/bi energy between like ALL the main characters which is intriguing lol
Similarly, for those who are suffering Shelter withdrawal I would highly, highly recommend Lockwood & Co. Just be prepared to be ✨traumatized✨ but like, in a good way!
Anyway, hope this helps some of you through our impending Black Winter 😘✌🏻

I saw this post from @amrubrum about Cardan as Kermit memes (https://www.tumblr.com/amrubrum/733256010679058432/cardan-as-kermit-memes) and wanted to recreate it for Lockwood (hope you don't mind!)
Specifically because it's not the first time I've noticed the similarities between Locklye & Jurdan, but also because the recent Kipps vs Kermit fiasco made this feel tangentially relevant 😅
(I kept the same order as the original post so mine are not all chronological)
[some Book Spoilers]
Lockwood after being captured by the Winkmans -
Lockwood in that deleted scene wearing his cozy PJs before saying "nice towel" (idiot)
Lockwood when Lucy said "Step over here, and I'll show you exactly how feisty I am."
Lockwood when Lucy announces she's leaving the agency
Lockwood the morning Lucy actually leaves
Lockwood during the black winter when Lucy doesn't come back
