Ok look. I’m an Elder Millennial and I know we have our quirks but I honestly want to know something.
#left handed so i use the right one#putting the handle also to the right so it doesn't get hot or get in the way of stirring#but saucepan goes to the left with handle facing left so it doesn't intrude on the right#also probably because that's how my right handed mother taught me

“In the war film, a soldier can hold his buddy—as long as his buddy is dying on the battlefield. In the western, Butch Cassidy can wash the Sundance Kid’s naked flesh—as long as it is wounded. In the boxing film, a trainer can rub the well-developed torso and sinewy back of his protege—as long as it is bruised. In the crime film, a mob lieutenant can embrace his boss like a lover—as long as he is riddled with bullets.
Violence makes the homo-eroticism of many “male” genres invisible; it is a structural mechanism of plausible deniability.”
–Tarantino’s Incarnational Theology: Reservoir Dogs, Crucifixions, and Spectacular Violence. Kent L. Brintnall.

Also adding that the allergy thing can be really misogynist, too-- I have a friend with a life-threatening milk allergy, and the amount of times she would get especially drink orders that just had the whipped cream or whatever scraped off or reassurances that it's SKIM MILK because the assumption was that a woman would say that she was allergic to things like milk or peanuts because they have FAT in them and not because of an actual allergy? It was a lot. And so many servers would get irritated/pissed when she would see those specks of cream on the icecubes and go no, SERIOUSLY, I CANNOT drink this and send it back.
You shouldn't have to pay top dollar at a fancy restaurant/for premium transportation to be given the VERY minor social grace that you just believe a customer when they tell you about allergies, when they have medication they need to take.
I mean yeah, odds say that you'll probably have to be ready for Rare Scenarios but as a public venue shouldn't you be doing that anyway?
Things that should be normalized:
Taking meds in public
Going out to eat by yourself
Not having your drivers license
Asking about allergies when eating out
Things that should NOT be normalized:
Watching loud videos in public without earbuds istg stop it its so annoying I don't want to hear some Minecraft dude screaming while I'm trying to eat my pancakes in peace

There literally are child-free airplanes. They're called private jets, and you can't afford them.
You cannot afford the luxury of avoiding "undesirable" populations, such as children or other poors like you or disabled ppl or queers or people of color if you're white. Avoiding "undersirables" is a facet of white supremacy and is afforded to the wealthy primarily.
If you can't afford a private jet to avoid children, you're one of the undesirables. Or at least one of the tiny insignificant cogs that keep the world going for those in power. Either way, you want to be like them, but you can't. So you whine on tumblr.com about how you deserve child-free airplanes because of your fucking autism or lack of patience or whatever else with no awareness of your alignment with those in power who aren't aligned with you or how you're playing in to their system by obeying it.
Children have always been a normal part of society, and intergenerational care and friendships used to be - it takes a village meant society participated in helping a child come to age. Separating "undesirables" out has been happening for a long time, too. You people making up "ethical" excuses for breaking humanity into separated chunks aren't special, you're just broke and jealous of those in power.
"But it's better for me if we live in a world where children are entirely isolated on islands of Their Parents due to how hostile the world is for them in 2024! It's better for me if kids are in situations where abuse can run rampant! I'm just talking about planes, why are you conflating these points!"
Why do you have beef with a four year old. Why do you, as an adult, have beef with an eight year old? Why do people my age beef with high schoolers?? You all are pathetic and never outgrew your own immature stunted way of looking at other humans.
#honestly yeah#the world is fucking grim but listen#kids deserve to hope!!#kids deserve to have a time in life where the world is safe and magical and GOOD#if you had a childhood you owe that gift of grace to other kids!#especially if you DIDN'T have a childhood you should be the first to say another child shouldn't suffer like you did#maybe be the cool person a kid learned about your disorder from? to not be afraid or annoyed or angry with people like you??

"Not even Jeeves wants to work anymore" being the Standard Republican Stand Up Comic joke
imagining a world where askjeeves won out as the most popular search engine so people having arguments online end up saying stuff like "literally just ask jeeves about this, it's not hard"

it would be cool if websites let you be an adult on them. the advertisers and payment processors need everything to be Family Friendly though and their definitions of family and friendly are absolutely fucked. but since they're in charge of the Internet now, no one is allowed to be an adult. tiktokers say things like "unalive" and "seggs" because they know death and sex are too adult for online. online is for idiot babies only now because they're easier to market to
